Roger Posted Wednesday at 08:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:48 PM When I greased my trailer the other day, I noticed that all of the bushings on the Monroe struts were cracked. I am wondering if I should replace the struts or just the bushings. Has anyone else seen this? 2021 Elite II Twin Bed Hull #1023 - Kimba | 2025 Ford F-350 6.7 Diesel
Ray Kimsey Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM I would replace the entire shock. The cost of the shocks was not that much and I expect yours are pretty well worn out. I replaced mine on my 2020 trailer about two years ago and what a difference it made. 1 2019 Ram 1500 5.7L V8, 3.92 axle ratio - 2020 LEll - Hull676

Steph and Dud B Posted Wednesday at 10:29 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:29 PM Some of mine look like that. There's a couple of threads talking about alternatives to the Monroes. 2 Stephanie and Dudley from CT. 2022 LE2, Hull #1150: Eggcelsior. Tow vehicle: 2016 GMC Sierra 6.0 gas dually 4x4. Moderators topgun2 Posted Wednesday at 11:37 PM Moderators Posted Wednesday at 11:37 PM (edited) THIS thread directly applies to the bushing question - particularly see the last post regarding the appropriate amount of "bluge" . Bill p.s. by typing in "Monroe Shocks" the Forum's search function will return more information of the subject of shocks in general. Your picture shows too many threads up top leaving very little spacing for the rubber. You want to tighten these so that the rubber is just mushrooming and not much more. 1 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins!
Geronimo John Posted Thursday at 03:58 PM Posted Thursday at 03:58 PM Roger: I note the amount of corrosion in your picture. I don't know where you live or operate, but for a 2021 trailer it could use some corrosion control efforts. Especially the axle tube.
