Moderators Mike and Carol Posted January 16, 2018 Moderators Share Posted January 16, 2018 Yesterday we were in the mid 60s. The forecast was for 20s and freezing precipitation for today and tomorrow before getting back up to normal. Yesterday here in San Antonio school closings were announced for today in anticipation of bad weather. Same in Houston. Today, I-10 and I-35 have been closed. We have maybe 1/16” of ice. It snowed for 10 minutes. It’s 25 degrees. Most folks are home for a day or so and everything is basically shut down. We have some chili in the crockpot. Fire in the fireplace. Is this how you’re supposed to do winter? ???? Mike 3 Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L
Moderators topgun2 Posted January 16, 2018 Moderators Share Posted January 16, 2018 Is this how you’re supposed to do winter? NO! You forgot the wine/beer. Seriously, I think that there are a number of people on the road headed towards Quartzsite. Please be very careful out there and on the way. Moderators SeaDawg Posted January 16, 2018 Moderators Share Posted January 16, 2018 A little ice is still slippery ice.... Especially if the equipment isn't ready for it. In my native Minnesota, it's just another day. .. that weather in Florida shuts us down, too. Hope you enjoy your break. And the chili. Moderator+ ScubaRx Posted January 16, 2018 Moderator+ Share Posted January 16, 2018 We are holed up at a beautiful ranch out from San Antonio. We have access to a guesthouse with full facilities. We are warm, safe and dry. Moderators topgun2 Posted January 17, 2018 Moderators Share Posted January 17, 2018 A big THANKS to Mike and Carol - you sent that wonderful weather here (mountains of western North Carolina)! As I type this there is 2 inches of snow (with more falling)and its only 21 degrees outside - normal high for this time of year is 48. Its so very gracious of you Texans to share! However, the high temperature forecast for this coming Saturday is 60 degrees. Certainly I can live with that. Mainiac
When New Orleans was one degree colder this morning than Orr's Island, in Casco Bay, Maine this morning I had mixed feelings. One was those poor people, the other was better them than us. Then the guilt kicked in, at least we are equipped to deal with it. Then it started to snow, but we only expect six to eight inches. Think Spring...
Moderators topgun2 Posted January 17, 2018 Moderators Share Posted January 17, 2018 Just got to love it when someone says,"Then it started to snow, but we only expect six to eight inches." Guess one has to be tough to live up there.
