connor77
My dog house weather seal is coming off and I'm wondering if people have replaced this with something different. I'm talking about the squishy foam seal on the top edge of the dog house, not the cover. I'm aware of what people have used for the cover edge and I have ordered this already. This weather seal gets really dirty. I'm wondering if there is something that would work that isn't quite as soft that might also be easier to clean. 2021 Elite 2 Hull # 832 "Bucket List" 2021 F250 7.3L Gas / 4.30 AR / Central Maine
Moderators topgun2 Posted June 5, 2022 Moderators Share Posted June 5, 2022 Interesting - This is the first time I've heard about this seal "coming off". Can you get a picture of it? connor77
This is with minimal pressure. I am not "pulling" here. Doesn't appear that there was ever a good bond between the black - I'm assuming butyl tape strip - and the fiberglass. I've asked Service to send me a piece of this so that I can replace it but I still wonder if there is something better out there. 2021 Elite 2 Hull # 832 "Bucket List" 2021 F250 7.3L Gas / 4.30 AR / Central Maine
Moderators topgun2 Posted June 5, 2022 Moderators Share Posted June 5, 2022 No wonder I never heard of it - my Elite II never had that in the first place! I'd bet that Oliver started putting that seal on when they switched from the "old" rubber latches to those new fangled jobs.😁 Bill 1 2023 Ford F150 Lariat 3.5EB FX4 Max Towing, Max Payload, 2016 Oliver Elite II - Hull #117 "Twist" Near Asheville, NC

Ray Kimsey
My seal was the same way when I got home from picking it ours up. I removed about half of it and cleaned it and reattached with some adhesive. So far so good. I wondered if someone didn't clean well before attaching it at the factory. 1 2019 Ram 1500 5.7L V8, 3.92 axle ratio - 2020 LEll - Hull676

IL_Travelers
This is EXACTLY the same problem I am having with R-Villa, Hull #803, which is only a year old. Ray Kimsey
I am not sure if this is the best thing to seal it with, but like I mentioned earlier, I removed part of it, then cleaned it really well and used Gorilla Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive. It has held up just fine for over a year and a half now.
