  1. Oliver tank gauges do not use probes inserted inside the tank so there is no maintenance issue, assuming your Oliver is like mine. The sensor element is located on the side (outside) the tank and I believe uses capacitance principle to sense the liquid level. I've had many RVs and this is the first one that uses this type of sensor and I love it.

  2. Taking delivery of my Legacy II on Thursday and hoping to camp one night near the factory for orientation. I’ll contact Oliver tomorrow to make sure this is still possible. Looks like it will freeze Thursday night so I have a heated drinking water hose as well as an extension cord to reach the external 110 outlet on the curb side of the trailer. I plan to winterize before hauling back to Virginia and have watched to YouTube video on what to do. That leads to the following questions. I have the right type antifreeze and the hand pump. Does the trailer come with a 3’ piece of Hose or will I need one? If so I’ll buy a cheap Hose and sacrifice it. Is the 1 1/16” socket to drain the water heater provided? Anything else you veterans suggest I need?

  3. The one thing is that because the gauge is on the outside, you don't want to put any grease or slime down the gray tank because if the inside gets coated, the gauge readings will be inaccurate to the point of saying it's full all of the time. There are chemicals that you can buy to clean the inside of the gray tank, but it takes hot water and time to degrease.

  4. Several comments here advise staying in the area for several days to learn how everything works and to make sure everything is working properly. Great advice! I would advise heading out for a couple of hundred mile trip, then being prepared to return to factory if necessary. OTT is a great trailer but sometimes teething pains pop up and it is best to be in close proximity to the factory so they can address the issues or questions. Also, there will be the inevitable question: "how does this work?" You can go over those with the factory folks directly if you can easily return to Hohenwald. Lots of great things to do and see in the area, especially Nashville and the Natchez Trace Parkway. Hap

  5. Overland is right on track. We ordered in April, expecting the yellowish ones when we picked up in July. Pleasantly surprised they were white. Our hull number is 241. Anita said they'd been requesting white for some time without success, then one day a shipment came in white with no advanced notice. Experienced same issue with the heavy dark shade wanting to drop slightly due to the extra weight, but it's not a deal breaker, we still like them that way. We only flipped the sides, not the back shade.

  6. We put some ice cubes into the toilet, and some down the drain with a little water, on the way home. As you travel it "splashes" around and cleans any residue. When you are home (or your next stop) you can empty mostly water into a bucket and pour into the home toilet. We also use Eco-Save which is an enzyme material (scented) and only put in the tank when waste is present in the tank. Not available everywhere...

  7. Every year I leave for my fly fishing trip just after the July 4th holiday. The primary reason for this is to make sure that fishing streams have returned to a more relaxed state after the major snow melt is over. However, a secondary reason is to avoid the 4th of July business both on the roads and at campgrounds along the route as I travel West. Unfortunately, this year, I really didn't study the calendar very well and set my trip to leave on the day after the 4th. So far I've run into two and a half distinct problems with this - 1 - too close to the 4th and people are still camping and/or sites (such as State Parks) will not take a reservation for a single day - 2 - The 5th is a Thursday which means that I will be traveling on the weekend, also not good for getting camping reservations - 2.5 - I've run into a major event in a relatively small town. It just so happens that the National High School Rodeo Finals are to be held in Rock Springs, WY the next week after I pass through. Great I thought except for the fact that people and contestants are already arriving there the week before. Luckily I was able to snag a reservation in Rock Springs at one of my not so favorite campgrounds (KOA). So, it appears that I will be doing the WalMart/truck stop thing for most of the trip out. Sure am glad I did some planning so that at least I have the location of these potential stopping places at hand. Obviously it would be a bunch easier if I had a co-pilot on board, but, my normal co-pilot doesn't fish and I don't think that my fishing buddy will be joining me this year. Should be a more interesting adventure than usual! Bill

  8. If it were me, I'd have them deliver the trailer ready to use so that you can make sure everything works. The last thing you want is to be getting ready for your first trip in the spring and discover that your water heater leaks or something. Getting Oliver to walk you through the winterization process would be helpful as well.

  9. So, to keep in mind when searching for the right one, the brochures, commercials, all advertising only shows the max possible numbers, not the real world numbers you end up with. For example, Ford F150 best in class payload 3270lbs, but that requires a very specific build, usually a stripped down work truck, real world is 1600lbs, even their max payload option is only available on certain trim levels so do you want that or leather? Class leading towing capacity 13,200lbs, that requires longest wheel base, super crew, 4x2. The 4x4 drops to 13,000lbs and most configurations come in around 10,500, still more than enough for an Oliver. This just demonstrates that the onus is on you to "know" the numbers, neither the advertisers nor a sales person (that I've encountered) will have the knowledge to properly inform you, if they think your cash is halfway out of your pocket, then they'll tell you it'll work fine for what you want. Forget the hype and go straight to the specs and tables around page 33 Brochure
