  1. After all the suggestions to fix the heater... ended up having one loose wire. John Davies had it correct . "check the voltage.. do some basic electrical troubleshooting"
  2. Amazing how much smarter we are in hindsight .... this said, if they would have told us the stock lights basically don't work, I would have likely gone for the upgrade.
  3. Congratulations, you have purchases a fine trailer. During my purchase process, it was all about the quality of the trailer. Four years later, i can say the group of people in the forum willingness to help was unexpected, amazing, clever and creative. Fellow owners that I have never met have gone well out of their way to help me on several occasions. Once when I was broken down without heat a fellow Oliver owner offered to come to my location to help. Welcome aboard. Your fellow Oliver owners are pretty much nuts about the trailers and add a great deal of value to your ownership and overall experience. I wish you best of luck going forward and to thank all of the forum participants my gratitude and thanks.
  4. Hobo, thank you for the links.. I have hardly blinked when it comes to spending money on the Oliver/truck but I'm having a tough time needing take apart the front end and spend $1k+ to upgrade lights because the stock lights are just absolute garbage. I could strap a couple of flashlights to my hood and have better lights. We love the truck but this one grinds me.
  5. I love the nice and tidy look. It's nice to know about the option. For me, functionally I don't feel enough is gained to invested the time. I have several other project such as mud flaps and waxing the beast yet to get done. Maybe it's something to do next time I rotate the tires or grease the suspension.
  6. We have business properties and personal properties. Our Oliver is personal property will never be rented. If you need to rent your trailer, likely you can't afford it.
  7. valley of fire 45 minutes north of las vegas is an amazing place. also red rocks is worth taking a day to tour (no a place to camp at red rocks)
  8. GJ.. thanks for the youtube. I've at the sourcing a bulb stage and had not considered that access to the bulbs would be such a headache. You gave me the link to the f150. Below is the link to the 2019 f250. It's unbelievable, you have to take apart the whole front-end of the truck. I now know i have project to install the bulbs once i come up with suitable bulbs.
  9. I'm looking for significantly better lighting without major wiring modification or a major cost. The stock lights in our Nissan Rogue produce twice the light of the F250. Does anyone know this truck and have suggestions of some bulbs that actually produce light? Back in the 80's I was able to purchase 100 watt European high beam bulbs for my BMW. These were amazing lights but not legal. Driving with these bulbs required being very alert to managing high beams for on coming traffic. Your thoughts will be appreciated.
  10. We spend a good deal of time off the grid and have been investigating various SOS soultions. Please find link to information about SOS if you are an Android users. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/01/qualcomm-says-it-built-a-better-satellite-messaging-system-than-apple/
  11. please confirm I'm understanding the above stream. the trailer will manage shore power of 15-20amp connection to service the batteries and run a couple of small appliances ( small dehumidifier and 750 watt oil heater set at low level in my case). the trailer has a trickle charge type circuit that will shut off when the batteries are fully charged and the batters will not become over charged. Is this correct?
  12. Last update... raced to get home and !#!!, not power. Just got PG&E update. It will BE 10 DAYS BEFORE WE GET POWER at our home... the good new is we heat 100% with a wood stove. the bad new is not running or hot water without running a generator. It's what we both love and dislike about living remote.
  13. all really great stuff. thanks to everyone. we got a break in the weather mid-morning and decided to pack up and head for home. the wind was our biggest concern. Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge was reasonable. This made us feel a lot better about our decision to travel. Lots of small slides, standing water and raging rivers but we have just arrived at home.... and lots of down trees and the power is out here. One more night in the trailer will more comfortable than our home... glad to be home after 7 weeks. thanks all
  14. can anyone share experiences driving in windy conditions. How much wind makes it unsafe to tow? I'm towing with an f250 that should help bad conditions. Please share your thoughts
  15. All really good advice, especially Patriot funny comment of being in a brushless carwash. Got through the night with all ok. Mike and Carol's event with 60/70 mph gusts must have been a wild ride. I was reading flat sided trailers can be blown over with 55mph wind and more aerodynamic trailers have been know to blow over with 70mph winds broadside. Winds have yet to get too crazy but I'm liking nose to the wind hooked up for the rest of this storm.
  16. thank you for the advice. I have the hot water on gas.. too stormy to go outside and flip the switch to electric . will shut off till morning. everything else is running on shore power... wind is increasing. rock and roll here
  17. yes, we have shore power.. i still have the propane open so we can cook and so on. are you recommending to turn off the propane value during the storm? Yea, I like a good storm as well. Going to have cabin fever by the time this one passes. It's forecast to be a major event until tomorrow afternoon. then we will see how long before they can clear 101 for travel.. hope to get lucky, we have been on the road for 7 weeks and would like to get home.
  18. not attached, can not get level when attached. riding the storm fine so far.. if it gets crazy, i'll consider your advice to hooking up..
  19. can't get home due to flooding, land sides and downed trees. Camping in Pacifica, Ca and catching the brunt of the storm off the ocean.. Winds 20, gusting to 35 mph and raining big time.. trailer doing some rock and rolling, high and dry so far but they say the worst is yet to come. Could be here a few days before we can navigate home on highway 101 to Arcata, Ca.
  20. hope its something simple such as a circuit board. thank you for the imput
  21. bhncb and dewdev.. have been without a computer as well as heat. just got my pc back on line. thank you for your thoughts. we are still on the road and have been relegated to camping when we can have power. we have a small oil filled heater that does a good job keep the chill away. I'm tapped and have this repair exceeds my skills. we are headed for the barn and will be home next week. the trailer is already repair slot booked. I will let everyone know what was wrong when i get it back from the shop best to all
  22. Thank you for the guidance. My electrical skills are not up to par. I will get some help... thanks to all
  23. first thing we did was check the fuse.. replaced it just in case. have lots of propane fuel and pressure
  24. thank you for the thoughts. gas flow is getting back to the hot water heater, I assuming also to the the furnace. Charged the batteries in the morning before hitting the road because we would be in late and did not want to run the generator late in the new camp. When we turn on the furnace, we get no sound at all. no clicking of the furnace trying to light. no sound at all..
  25. wow, im sorry if i posted incorrect information. I assumed the two red handles were the only way my rear window opened. I had a seal issue with off road dirt coming. Swung it open add more foam to seal the dust leak. Never have thought to side it open... I'm very likely wrong about the window not having a sliding function.
