  1. It seems the mounting options are limited with the 8" screen.
  2. Thanks! Good info. Hmmmmm , , , , , I like the sound of the CD mount . . . . . we don't use the CD player in our PU. . . . . . will check it out. What size screen are you using with the above mount? Do you use it on the dash? If so, can you see the screen well, with sunlight? So now there is an 8" option . . . . . great . . . . . another decision!
  3. Thing's loud, isn't it? We had the same issue in our 2017 Leisure Travel Van. Seems there were some defective alarms distributed to dealers during that time. LTV replaced the alarm under warranty and we had no further false alarms. The only fix I read about when we were having problems was to either pull the fuse or cut the wires, but then you have no warning. I understand there are also portable units you can use. If not still under warranty, these aren't expensive to replace. Call Oliver Service and they can advise you on a replacement based on your hull#
  4. Those with Garmin drivesmart (61 or 65): 1. How does the unit plug into vehicle power - USB or 12v socket? (I'm new to these devices) and how does it charge? We want to use a beanbag type mount, but there are so many, it's confusing. I don't think all will work with the 6.95" display. Which one do I need? Or, is there a better type of mount? Our pickup dash has a flat recessed top where this would work well.
  5. I see Garmin now has Drive Smart 65 which is bluetooth compatible. Can this be paired to the vehicle system to send the voice directions through the dash speakers? My husband has a hard time hearing.
  6. I wonder if it's necessary to get the RV or truck version to have that function?
  7. Passing the wait time for our new Oliver shopping for a Garmin GPS. There are so many models, I'm confused. I found reference here for the 61LMT @Trainman and RV660LMT @John E Davies. Any other Garmin users care to share your experiences?
  8. The only built in Nav system we have had and like is in our BMW X5. It is Google maps based, so the maps are awesome. You can choose either regular map or satellite imagery. And, you can map your route on your computer then send the destination to the car via the car's wifi connection. We've had other nav systems (mazda, MB Sprinter RV) and neither was as easy to use. Our tow pickup doesn't have built in navigation, so guess wheat my husband is getting for his birthday? Looking for a Garmin.
  9. Yes . . . . . I'd like to see a thread for GPS recommendations
  10. Yep! High pressure moving into the PNW is pushing out the rain. Warm weather on the way. Indian Summer (pardon me, if this term is not PC) Our local meteorologists show us the H/L pressure lines. We've had some really great weather reporters in the past, usually those who began before computer weather modeling became the norm, but the good ones seem to move on to more renown positions or they retire. What I don't like are the new generation of forecasters who talk so fast you can't keep up. I guess this is a sign of old age . . . . . I'm sounding like my mother
  11. I realized, when I looked at Coastal online that you must have seen Hondas. It still puzzles me why there are many Hondas available, but no Yamahas. I was looking before the fires, so it's got to be something else. Maybe it's that Yamahas are blue. Honda's are a prime target for "borrowers"; maybe people think blue will fly under the radar? I'm sure the Honda would be just fine, but I would like to have the convenience of the 30 amp plug and still have two 20amp outlets available. Also the Yamaha has a fuel gauge, longer run time, and a reset button so you don't have to restart the engine if the generator circuit breaker trips. The Honda is a bit quieter, though. If someone knows why the shortage of one and not the other, please let us know. In the meantime, I'm holding out for a Yamaha.
  12. DOD is important when it comes to off grid camping and how much power your batteries can supply before needing recharged. I've come to the conclusion that weighing the cost/benefits of Lithium vs other batteries is a bit like an apples to oranges comparison. Money aside, choose that which gives you the most satisfaction 🍎 🍑 (I know, it's a peach. But there isn't an orange emoji)
  13. I just noticed something: the alarm is a dual alarm - smoke and carbon monoxide. Is the alarm under the dinette dual LP/CO, or just LP? If it's the same as the dual alarm we had in our camper van, it is really loud!
  14. We have little shower caps that came with the smoke alarms installed when our home was built. We put one of these over the smoke alarm when cooking indoors and take it off before going to bed. Maybe this is why Oliver put the alarm above the bed - so one of us doesn't need to get up to remove the shower cap 😀 I'm not suggesting anyone do this, but I feel safe cooking with the fire alarm disabled.
  15. Yes . . . . .that's the idea. Thanks
  16. Are you saying the tank drain is less than 1/2"? Seems small to me. Great idea, running the fill hose longer to flush the tank. Regarding draining the tank: I seem to recall reading that another RV owner ( I think it was on a 5th-wheel) installed a fitting in the tank drain so you can connect a hose and divert the water to a drain or at least away from where you are parked. Has anyone heard of this being done?
  17. Oliver should install the more secure locks . . . . . what are there, two on the exterior? In the least, they should include the cut key on units with the Lithium option and build the price difference into the upgrade price. Warning: Do not mail keys in an envelope. I mailed our son a car key, when he lost his, The envelope was sent through the franking equipment and tore. The key jammed the equipment, shutting it down . . . . . thank goodness the PO assumed responsibility . . . . . . Could have been an expensive key!
  18. Thanks . . . . great info. . . . . I'm still a bit concerned about the security of the lithium batteries while we are away from our Oliver.
  19. Regardless of which water heater you have, I think you still need to bypass it when winterizing.
  20. I looked back . . . . @topgun2's post. It was "City Water, Fresh Water and Black tank flush". The outside shower faucets are easy enough to turn on while winterizing, the same as the inside faucets, till pink flows from the shower head.
  21. Thanks . . . . If they don't have one at ours tomorrow, that is what I'll do.
  22. I'm going to Home Depot this weekend. Is this the correct pump for winterizing the black flush valve, city inlet, and . . . . . . seems to me there are three things . . . . . https://www.homedepot.com/p/Camco-Hand-Pump-Kit-with-Fittings-36003/205518939
  23. I think the trailer number on the back of the Oliver is an optional item. You designate this option when you order exterior graphics style, color, and location.
  24. Should we revive this old discussion, bringing it up to date for all builds through current? Or are there newer discussions related to this one? I ask because today I received the VIN for our "to be built soon" 2021 Elite II. Coincidentally, the last 6 numbers of our VIN are identical to yours - 305014! So, I assume ours will be #14 for the 2021 model year, but what do the characters "3050" represent? I realize that characters preceding the last 6 "serial numbers" make the VIN unique, especially the model year; ours is "M" which I find translates to model year 2021. So, for model years after the initial 2008 builds, where in the VIN does the Hull # come to light - if indeed it does. I'm assuming Hull numbers roll from model year to model year. If there is an newer discussion on this topic, perhaps someone can post a link; I haven't found one. Thanks.
  25. Out here, in Oregon, we want the rain . . . . send yours our way . . . . . Please!!!!
