  1. We used a recycled wood cutting board salvaged from the old Home Ec. room of our high school. Stragecially installed screw on rubber feet so it anchored securely to the grate of our 5th-wheel's range. Later we used it over the glass cover of our campervan's cooktop. Will use it the same in our Oliver. While it won't create one continuous counter, it will take up less space to stow out of the way when using the cooktop.
  2. It's five-o'clock somewhere 🍺
  3. Oliver made a reservation for us at Davy Crockett SP the night of our delivery. I called the park and asked for an additional night, so we will be there two nights for "shakedown". Very reasonable rates; with a Senior discount, less than $20/night. Good to know that Oliver might have a camping area on location, in case we need to have any adjustments made before we leave the area.
  4. Happy for you, it was something simple . . . . oft times that is the case 😀
  5. You mean 672!
  6. I suppose you asked Oliver and they gave you the hull number. What is your delivery date? My estimates say our Dec 7 deliver should be in the upper 680s to lower 690s, depending on if they halt production during Thanksgiving. Please share your storage solutions, if you don't mind 😃
  7. Following. Are you thinking of using the receiver/ball hitch adapter on the pickup? Maybe you've thought of this, but we did not order the aluminum storage box because it might prohibit mounting the bike rack between the trailer and the pickup. I don't recall exactly but I think the bike rack extends 27" from the receiver to the rearmost tray. The measurement Oliver gave me from the hitch jack to the ball is 36". It looks like the adapter adds about an additional 3" (distance from receiver to ball mount on the adapter. So, possibly 39" of clearance. Not sure if turning radius is a factor, but my husband seems to think it will work. I'm not sure if there will be room for the 1up rack to tilt down while the bikes are loaded if you need to lower the tailgate to access cargo. Or, if the tailgate can be opened when the rack is in the folded position. I can't remember how the rack is situated in relation to the pickup bed (we mostly used it on the back of our camper van) and don't have access to the rack at the moment. My head spins just thinking about all the possible impediments 🚫
  8. Thanks for the info. We love the 1up rack and are hoping it will fit between the pickup and the trailer using a receiver/ball hitch adapter. From measurements given us by Oliver, it appears it might work. As for a tonneau cover, we are looking at the Bakflip because it can be folded to leave the entire bed open. Waiting to purchase a cover until we have our Oliver and can determine whether the 1up rack will work as we hope. Otherwise, we'll need to figure out something different. We might also need a way to carry kayaks in addition to bikes, if we decide to replace our inflatable kayaks with hard shell. The more toys you you, the more complicated it gets 😕
  9. We have the 1up hitch rack. I'm going to have to check and see if it can be adapted to rail mount. Is the cover difficult to remove if for some reason you need the entire bed to haul something in. I'm thinking my husband's motorcycle which takes up the entire length of the 8' bed.
  10. Good question . . . . . I'm not sure where Oliver is on hull numbers. Now that mine is in production, should they know the number? I asked for a VIN for insurance and they gave me that. Won't hurt to ask.
  11. Hmmm. . . . .762 . . . . . . we pick up our Elite II on December 7 . . . . . . . maybe it will be #777 . . . . . . should entitle us to a jackpot . . . . . . maybe a free Oliver Travel Trailer? 🎰
  12. Sounds like a good practice, if dump station doesn't have an incline, is to drive the curb side tires of the trailer up on a leveling block and, if possible, raise the tongue. This should cant the trailer to the rear street side corner and make draining quicker. Being aware of the trailer's tilt is something we will need to become aware of; our camper van had a macerator sewage pump so gravity was not necessary to drain the tanks.
  13. A few years ago we successfully downsized, trading a spacious 30ft 5th-wheel (do two people really need that much space to camp?) for a 25' Leisure Travel Van. The floor plan was similar in size and layout to the Elite II twin. Aside from not having a vehicle to drive around in while base camped, the van fit us well, except for the few times my husband wished it had a slide. Yes, my husband also needs his space. While camping, we spend most of our awake time outside, but when weather forces us inside, the twin beds make a great lounge area. I also plan to add living space, at times, by setting up the Oliver dinette as a sofa, with the platform in "bed mode" and a few additional cushions we acquired from another Oliver owner. As with all RV choices there are trade-offs, but I'm more than certain we will love the Oliver. And, yes, I'm sure I will hear, more than once, "I wish this thing had a slide!"
  14. Didn't find one . . . . . . . getting out the sewing machine tomorrow 😀
  15. Our 2021 will have the Norcold fridge which includes 12v in auto mode. We just feel safer knowing it won't mysteriously switch to battery power. It would be nice if the fridges were programmed to not auto switch to battery if the tow vehicle engine isn't running, at least where a motorhome/camper is concerned. I'm not certain, with a towable trailer, if the house batteries would draw enough charge from the engine alternator. Comments??? At any rate, it is peace of mind, for us, to manually choose the fridge power source so batteries don't accidently get sucked dry as could have possibly been the issue that @Dennis1 experienced Yes, sorry. Was quoting text that referred to European specs . . . . . oops!
  16. Laptop sleeve is a great suggestion. I think I might have one somewhere. Thanks
  17. Probably a bit of both . . . . time will tell. I purchased this silicone heat resistant pad to protect the counter/tabletops for under the induction burner and our small toaster oven. BTW: Oliver is now using this cooktop with a cast iron grate. This will be much nicer than the two burners with individual grates.
  18. Update on induction burner: I purchased this and love it! I've used it at home a lot, as it simmers so much better than our gas cooktop. I love that the controls are simple and intuitive and I can't believe how little heat it gives off. I should have purchased one of these long ago. Now I have to wait a couple of months to use it in our Oliver . . . . . . she goes into production today ! ! ! ! ! @SeaDawg What are you using as a carrying case?
  19. We had pretty much already decided on an Oliver, from watching the factory tour online. The in person visit helped us "try one on" for fit - are the twin beds big enough? (my husband is over 6'), same for the bathroom. Is the storage space adequate? (the cupboards were much more spacious than I had envisioned). What I had not anticipated was the quality craftsmanship - which is beyond amazing!
  20. If you haven't already, done so, be sure to contact Oliver about setting up a "See an Oliver" visit. When we were "still looking" Oliver assigned us a sales agent who quickly set us up with an owner near our location. Oliver was happy to answer any and all of my questions, but in no way did I ever feel any "sales pressure". Great folks to do business with. And of course, there are Oliver owners on this forum, with all levels of expertise, willing to help prospective owners make those important decisions.
  21. Maybe this is true of the Dometic installed by Oliver, I don't know. We had a Dometic (model rmd8555) in our camper van that did have auto mode. The sequence of priority was: 1.) - Solar (12V DC) 2. - 115V AC 3. - 12V DC 4. - Liquid gas. The user manual also says to "only use DC power while engine is running or batteries will be drained in a few hours". I think it priority should be 1. - 230V AC 2. - LP 3. - Solar (12V DC) and 4. - 12V DC (in absence of solar). The power source that is most rapidly depleted should be last in line. Perhaps there is a reason it is not. By using manual selection, you can be certain of the power source and make adjustments as needed.
  22. If the 2015 had the built in EMS, would the problem possibly been avoided?
  23. For what it's worth: To be on the safe side, we never run our fridge on auto mode. If you switch it manually and it doesn't detect power, it should alarm to let you know.
  24. Nice to hear the adhesive attachment works. No problem with water affecting adhesion? Is the rod in the way when using the toilet . . . . . Is it in the way when accessing the overhead cabinet. . . . . . would a tall person's head hit it? It's hard to visualize, not seeing it in person. I was thinking of installing it further back and on the bottom of the overhead cabinet (Elite II).
  25. This sounds serious . . . . . shouldn't the on board surge protection have kicked in? . . . . . I don't know where in the electrical flow the surge protector is situated. Maybe something with the converter? Was the tow vehicle system affected? Do the trailer lights still come on with the headlights when hitched and plugged in? . . . . . . just some thoughts. Please let us know what you discover.
