  1. Not the same, but I heard Oliver is installing a different bathroom roof vent in the 2021 model. Maxxfan, but don't know the model. No matter which model, it should be bigger than the previous little round fan, so that's good.
  2. When we were still looking at RV options, we considered a Cirrus (nuCamp) pickup camper. I was impressed . . . . . especially with the bathroom design (shown above) . . . . . . . . . awesome for a camper, but I'm not keen on the Alde heating system. Moot point, though, as we decided a pickup camper wasn't what we wanted . . . . . . . I think nuCamp makes better than average RVs, but the Tab400 was too small and the Avia too big. For us, the Oliver Elite II is "just right", says Goldilocks . . . . . . . . Hmmm . . . . . maybe we should name her "Goldilocks"
  3. I believe the onboard inverter is a Xantrex Freedom XC Inverter - (the 2000w installed with the pro solar package). This brings up a question: I can't find where it says anything about an inverter installed as standard equipment; only the 2000w with the solar package and 3000w with the lithium package. Is there not one unless you choose one of these upgrades?
  4. Yes, but remembering makes retirement look so much better 😎
  5. I'm not sure of the reason, "you aren't supposed to run a portable generator that close to a living area. How is this different from an onboard generator . . . . not portable in the sense that the stand alone portables are, but still a generator burning fuel . . . . . . . . is the bathroom considered a living area? . . . . . . I can understand maybe not running a generator under an open window . . . . . . what is the safe distance? . . . . . . . . where do the safety people recommend placing the generator while in use? . . . . . . .do we need longer than a 25' cord to plug into a generator?
  6. Yes . . . . . my experience has been if someone doesn't know the answer, they will find someone who does and let you know.
  7. Have a great time enjoying your new Oliver.
  8. Some sort of short in the locking mechanism, perhaps? Corrosion of wires/batteries?
  9. We ordered our Elite II with KISS in mind 😁
  10. Thanks for sharing your Oliver service story . . . . . . I doubt few, if any, RV dealers would have done the same.
  11. I like our folding bamboo dish rack. I place a drying mat under it. It is easy to store just about anywhere.
  12. We watched this when we were deciding between this and other Garmin GPS models. Chose mainly for the larger screen, but also for Garmin reputation. In addition, I have found that purchasing the latest technology is good practice. Since this model is a new release, prices are the same no mater where you purchase (most likely someone will have a Black Friday sale; oh well). We ordered direct from Garmin, and there's a 1-2 week delay in shipping. I did use their customer support while planning the purchase and it was great. Will be using the Garmin as much as possible before we head to Hohenwald so we will be accustomed to its features. I already have a rough out of our trip route, but will also try the Garmin trip planning feature. I'm curious to see if Google Maps can send to the Garmin from our computer. It does to our SUV nav, which is Google based (BMW). Will report back once we have had a chance to play with the Garmin a bit.
  13. FYI: I believe it's called a hub cap
  14. Heard from Oliver first thing this morning. Our Oliver will be the last of the 600's . . . . . . . our hull# 699 . . . . . . . #666 if you're dyslexic like @Dennis1
  15. That's a great price . . . . my sewing machine is a low-voltage Janome and will easily sew this. Will seriously think about it! Probably would make new cushions rather than recover brand new ones. . . . . . . . but I'll need to "run the idea by the boss"! . . . . . . I know what the answer will be 😠
  16. So it was the electrical panel? I wonder what caused the buzzing to stop when a lights was turned on. . . . .
  17. As a child, our RV was a houseboat. My dad taught us how to tie proper knots and use "nautical speak". He also told us the Left=Port trick. Same thing for the color of the lights red=port (shorter words) and green=starboard (longer words)
  18. Storing under a cushion is a good idea . . . . . ours would have to be under one of the mattresses. We have a silicone dish mat that fits perfectly over the cooktop's glass cover, for extra protection.
  19. Thanks for the tips . . . . . as for the RV "Nanny", in the newer RV specific models you can use it in Car mode and not get the height, weight, and other restrictions. In comparison to older Garmins, I think the screens are more simplified and navigating through the menus is a bit more intuitive. Anything will be better than the Becker Pilot that came installed in our MB Sprinter camper van. Yes, let's start a topo discussion. And, for sure I will be choosing Tom Selleck as my navigator!
  20. After a lot of research, we ordered the new Garmin RV 890. $100 more than the previous RV model, because it has an 8" screen. I like that the RV models Have campground specific info built in. Will post updates when we receive. The only hesitation I had, in ordering this model, is that it has a larger ball mount. Will need to get an adapter to get it to work with aftermarket mounts.
  21. Thanks for the tips. . . . . I was thinking, one of those "grabby sticks", like you pick up trash along the road with. . . . . . the string sounds like a good idea. We are getting the basement access door on our Twin Bed model. Plan to put a crate of bottled water where we can reach it from inside. And maybe a laundry hamper.
  22. Where are you traveling from? Maybe we'll see you along the way. We leave the PNW 11/30 . . . . . Oregon to Las Vegas, then I-40 to Tennessee. Should be an adventure!
  23. There is no VIN number on our deposit receipt; only "Quote Date", "Production Date", "Delivery Date", invoice# - Huff_6095. Maybe the 6095 indicates hull # 695? As I said previously (somewhere in another post), I requested and received a VIN# that we needed for insurance. today I sent another email requesting the hull# Is 11/22 correct for your delivery? That's a Sunday.
  24. Personally, we only consider extended warranties for vehicles with complex electronic components/drive trains where repairs are likely to be costly. We have a BMW X5 with a diesel engine. Better than average quality/build/reliability, but repairs cost an arm and a leg. We do purchase the warranty, but this is, as you say, a gamble. Historically our warranty cost has paid off. When the screen on our 2015 BMW X5 nav sys began failing, the cost to replace would have been around $3,000 parts and labor. Even after paying the $250 deductible, we broke even on the extended warranty. As for an Oliver, there is no drive train to fail. Of installed components, the appliances are most apt to be problematic. You can, however, get extended warranties on many of them (this used to be the case. Check with Dometic, et al.) I feel the one or two year warranty on most equipment will cover any manufacturing defects and early life failures. In the long run, you are better off paying for any eventual repairs. It depends on whether peace of mind is worth paying up front.
  25. Keep in mind, if you do finance a used purchase, the final cost to own will most likely be more than financing new, due to the higher interest rate and the near-new pricing of used Olivers. We recently sold our Leisure Travel Van to a private party. I don't know how they financed, but they secured a preapproved loan. At the sale, it took minutes to transact and confirm a wire transfer from their financial institution to ours. Of course, this was for an RV with a definable value which probably made it easier to secure a loan. Perhaps if you can somehow document the value and marketability of a used Oliver, financing might be possible. Even so, I would still look at the total cost of principal and interest for new vs used. Not related, but if you plan to use your Oliver as an office, the interest can most likely be claimed as a tax deduction.
