  1. Thanks for the video. Purchased these recently but haven't installed yet.
  2. You sound like us. We also travel with a work schedule and a teenager, who was 11 and considerably smaller when we purchased 4 years ago! 😁 There has only been one trip of many where I had to get creative with finding places for all our stuff and it was a 3-week trip. Love that you decided to go ahead and go for it!
  3. Thank you, Donna, for taking the initiative and making this happen! We'd be in for another. We'll make it to the annual Oliver rally in Alabama one of these days but this was a great option to have until we do. While we enjoyed Inks Lake (and it happened to be one of the Texas state parks we hadn't been to before), I think it would be nice to change the location for a bit of a different experience next time. Every 2 years sounds reasonable and would be less work but that's also quite a while for people who were unable to make this one. Also, thanks to Jason Essary for taking the time to drive over and spend part of his day with us. We enjoyed the conversation with those we were able to meet and hope to see you again. We also got to catch up with a couple who looked at our trailer before they purchased. We ended up leaving a little earlier than planned for work reasons so missed some of you but hopefully we'll have the opportunity again in the future.
  4. Thanks for the update on the mini. We have been using Gen 2 for a good while both at home and on the road (we have residential with roaming which was discontinued long ago) and have been pleased with it. The mini with the unlimited package is VERY tempting...easier to manage and just leave in the trailer!
  5. Ours broke while in transit. We had no choice but to drive it very slowly about 12 miles as the nearest company with flatbed towing capability was 3 hours away. It caused no additional damage that we are aware of.
  6. I wondered the same thing. Ours was curbside rear. The other 3 still had good shape.
  7. Thank you to everyone who has shared their thoughts in this thread. I'll admit that I knew very little about leaf springs until one of ours failed last week on our 2019 LEII. What can I say? I'm the wife and am not too interested in discussing the mechanical operation of things but I am also the detail-oriented and "let's make sure we have all the information before making a decision" half of this team. You all educated me on this topic and I appreciate the knowledge as we decide what springs to go with moving forward. For the record, ours broke in the same trouble spot as many of the other Dexter 1750# 4-leaf ones and we have done mostly highway driving. I would venture to say, since there were 5 of us in the span of a few days who reported broken springs, that this is likely more common than some may have thought. I'll be submitting a ticket to Oliver just so they'll have record of the break. Mindy
  8. We have a broken leaf spring on our 2019 LEII on Gunflint Trail in Minnesota (not at all a convenient place for this to happen.) From what I’ve read the OEM is a 1750# 4-leaf spring…is it a Dexter? Does anyone happen to have a part number? I now know from experience and searching for info here it would’ve been a good idea to have a spare on hand.
  9. Thanks for all the info! We do have a reservation at Split Rock Lighthouse in the Shipwreck Campground for part of our stay and it looks like a good one. I'll look into some of the other places you mentioned. I've already ordered us some of those attractive head net mosquito hats, haha. 😉
  10. We are venturing into new territory this summer...Voyageurs, Isle Royale and Minnesota's North Shore. Any recommendations on things not to miss? Also, is going to Northern Angle worth the cost of the boat trip over? We aren't wanting the hassle of crossing the border into Canada in our vehicle for just a short time.
  11. We'll be in site 288...across the cove from the group loop. Site 289 is open - someone grab it! Looking forward to it as we haven't been able to attend a Guntersville rally yet.
  12. We liked Homolovi! It's so convenient to I-40 and Winslow is an added bonus.
  13. The door on our 2019 cracked and we had it replaced at Oliver. Our crack was on the outside but started under the original clip-style window. We had a days-long period of snow, ice and single digit temperatures and noticed it after the trailer thawed out.
  14. Another tennis-loving Oliver owner here. Sounds great! I'll take a trip that includes Jack Sock and Cedar Breaks anytime! Saw both in 2023 - one at the Dallas Open and one in October, right before they closed for the winter season. It's beautiful up there for sure.
  15. We have a 2019 EII and ours is activated with the wall control and shows as another option to select just like the A/C or furnace. It's nice to have another heat option (especially if you're running low on propane) and we sometimes use it in conjunction with an electric heater that we plug in next to the closet. We, of course, use our furnace when it's really cold outside to keep us as well as the trailer components warm.
  16. I made the mistake of following Tourons of Yellowstone recently and now my Instagram feed is full of these very special people. It's a given that there are people who don't use good sense but the number of people blatantly disregarding the signage and guidelines is a little shocking.
  17. WOW. I, too, would like to check that out in person. I have no intention of getting rid of our Ollie but that got my attention! 😉
  18. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. I hope it ends up benefitting both Oliver and us as owners with expanded service locations. It could be a challenge for the network to gain the trust of those who are used to dealing with the experts in Hohenwald (it's REALLY nice to be able to get solid information when there is a question or issue) so top-notch, maintained training at these facilities will be so important. And having the service department remain at the mothership would still afford us options as well as an opportunity to visit Tennessee, which we have come to love since our purchase and trips there.
  19. We've stayed at Harvest Host locations a handful of times over a period of a couple of years. At first, we were limiting our stays to cooler weather (when we didn't need the air conditioner) but two of the locations we've been to recently had hookups for a fee. We've done honey tasting, a shooting range, a plantation, a historic property/farm and a museum. All our experiences have been favorable and we will continue to maintain this membership. The reviews usually give a good idea of what to expect at a site. I've always booked in advance so have no experience with more immediate requests.
  20. I don't know about actual campsites but Texas has about half the number of state parks as Florida. I don't disagree with you, which is why I said I understand why this passed. Maybe other states will follow suit! 🙂 I know it's frustrating for people to not be able to get a spot reasonably close to home for the weekend. One of our kids lives near Grayton and Topsail State Parks and it can be tricky to get a spot when we go visit...we really have to plan ahead.
  21. Good question because we like the heat strip on our Dometic as well!
  22. Interesting and thanks for sharing. Boy, there will be even less of a chance now of getting a site at the parks in the Keys, especially, if not a Florida resident. Texans do not get a jump on others reserving sites at Texas state parks and Florida's stance on this is understandable...not great if you don't live there, but understandable. We also see many reserved sites that are empty. In Texas, there is incentive to not wait until the last minute to cancel with the amount of refund you receive being less if within a week of the reserved date so it's always worth it to me to cancel promptly if something happens and we can no longer use a day or days we have reserved. Plus, I'd do it anyway because I'd want someone else to be able to use the site if we cannot. Reserving a longer period than needed to get access to dates not yet open is nothing new. And people don't always wait long to cancel the unwanted days. In Texas state parks, for example, if you make a reservation that extends beyond the standard 5-month reservation window, you have to wait 18 days to cancel or make a change to the reservation. So, the 18 day mark is a good one to remember if trying to get a site someplace that booked up on the day the reservation window opened or shortly thereafter.
  23. I considered CampNab but ultimately decided it wasn't worth the cost as I've been pretty successful finding cancellations on my own. I may change my mind in the future if my success wanes! Thanks for the info on the new app.
