  1. We have a 2019 EII and ours is activated with the wall control and shows as another option to select just like the A/C or furnace. It's nice to have another heat option (especially if you're running low on propane) and we sometimes use it in conjunction with an electric heater that we plug in next to the closet. We, of course, use our furnace when it's really cold outside to keep us as well as the trailer components warm.
  2. I made the mistake of following Tourons of Yellowstone recently and now my Instagram feed is full of these very special people. It's a given that there are people who don't use good sense but the number of people blatantly disregarding the signage and guidelines is a little shocking.
  3. WOW. I, too, would like to check that out in person. I have no intention of getting rid of our Ollie but that got my attention! 😉
  4. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. I hope it ends up benefitting both Oliver and us as owners with expanded service locations. It could be a challenge for the network to gain the trust of those who are used to dealing with the experts in Hohenwald (it's REALLY nice to be able to get solid information when there is a question or issue) so top-notch, maintained training at these facilities will be so important. And having the service department remain at the mothership would still afford us options as well as an opportunity to visit Tennessee, which we have come to love since our purchase and trips there.
  5. We've stayed at Harvest Host locations a handful of times over a period of a couple of years. At first, we were limiting our stays to cooler weather (when we didn't need the air conditioner) but two of the locations we've been to recently had hookups for a fee. We've done honey tasting, a shooting range, a plantation, a historic property/farm and a museum. All our experiences have been favorable and we will continue to maintain this membership. The reviews usually give a good idea of what to expect at a site. I've always booked in advance so have no experience with more immediate requests.
  6. Now that's a useful mod! 🙂
  7. I don't know about actual campsites but Texas has about half the number of state parks as Florida. I don't disagree with you, which is why I said I understand why this passed. Maybe other states will follow suit! 🙂 I know it's frustrating for people to not be able to get a spot reasonably close to home for the weekend. One of our kids lives near Grayton and Topsail State Parks and it can be tricky to get a spot when we go visit...we really have to plan ahead.
  8. Good question because we like the heat strip on our Dometic as well!
  9. Interesting and thanks for sharing. Boy, there will be even less of a chance now of getting a site at the parks in the Keys, especially, if not a Florida resident. Texans do not get a jump on others reserving sites at Texas state parks and Florida's stance on this is understandable...not great if you don't live there, but understandable. We also see many reserved sites that are empty. In Texas, there is incentive to not wait until the last minute to cancel with the amount of refund you receive being less if within a week of the reserved date so it's always worth it to me to cancel promptly if something happens and we can no longer use a day or days we have reserved. Plus, I'd do it anyway because I'd want someone else to be able to use the site if we cannot. Reserving a longer period than needed to get access to dates not yet open is nothing new. And people don't always wait long to cancel the unwanted days. In Texas state parks, for example, if you make a reservation that extends beyond the standard 5-month reservation window, you have to wait 18 days to cancel or make a change to the reservation. So, the 18 day mark is a good one to remember if trying to get a site someplace that booked up on the day the reservation window opened or shortly thereafter.
  10. I considered CampNab but ultimately decided it wasn't worth the cost as I've been pretty successful finding cancellations on my own. I may change my mind in the future if my success wanes! Thanks for the info on the new app.
  11. We purchased our 2019 EII used in September 2020 - a definite result of the Covid year! I wanted to take advantage of being able to travel in the remote school year with our youngest (and only kiddo left at home.) Shortly after having found Oliver and being pretty convinced it was a top contender, I happened upon a 2018 that had just come available not far from our home. I couldn't believe it since I knew at the time there were only a few for sale across the country. We went to look and liked it but someone else snagged it before we made a decision. I watched this forum, another fiberglass forum, RV Trader, etc., like a hawk and was about ready to place an order for a new one (but kept holding off because I really wanted one immediately so as not to waste any more of the year than we already had) and within several weeks found ours and drove to Tucson to buy it. Our surprise wasn't a cutting board made by Foy (too bad!) - - instead, we found a small leak in a fitting under the curbside bed. Thankfully, the fix was pretty straightforward and didn't cost much. Like any RV, we've had some things that have needed repair along the way but it was a GREAT purchase. We were concerned about the warranty not being transferrable to us as second owners but it turned out to not be an issue as we had little that would've been covered. There are some things we like even more about our 2019 than the newer ones - things no longer available. That, coupled with the price increases that had already occurred at the time and again since then, leaves us very satisfied with our decision to buy used. We've taken so many trips and have seen things we wouldn't have otherwise. USED FOR THE WIN in our case!
  12. We did, too. We ordered one from Oliver that didn't fit our 2019 (they apparently have changed the one they use since then) and found one on Amazon that did fit. It looks a little different than the original but fit the existing screw holes.
  13. Hobo, we've considered doing this, too, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Please share if you get it done!
  14. Imelda, is there someone you've used that you would recommend? We are also in N TX.
  15. We dove in head first two years ago as new RV and Oliver owners just a couple of months after deciding to purchase an RV. The closest we had come to towing anything was me watching my dad with our boats and travel trailer as a child! I devoured as much information as I could from the forum, Facebook, Oliver University and youtube prior to picking up our LEII and we've just dealt with things as they've occurred by searching those resources, posting with questions or contacting Oliver Service. So far, all is well and we have enjoyed 2 great years of travel. The owner network is a tremendously valuable resource and it was reassuring to know there was a go-to group that was both knowledgeable and responsive if needed.
  16. I'm certain I haven't used them in my all white tent for reading.😂 I also don't think we've ever used them in the clam but will try that next time because I think they would work well there. We usually hang them from trees as extra lighting and keep them on when our outside trailer lights and lanterns are turned off. They give off more light, though, than I expected and are bright enough that they could be used for task lighting in a pinch (albeit not comparable to any lantern we have).
  17. We love campfire onions! So much better for whatever reason than any onions we ever make at home.
  18. Yes, on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08JGSHYWX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
  19. This is what we do now as well. We took a chance and purchased a knock-off from Aldi (Gardenline brand for around $125) and have been completely pleased but it is a seasonal item for them and they seem to sell out quickly so you have to pay attention to be able to get one. Another favorite would be our Luci solar string lights. They store nicely and can go anywhere without needing an extension cord.
  20. We just stayed at this park over 4th of July weekend. If you book in the Pecan Orchard section, know that it's pretty crowded. Some sites in that section back directly up to an adjoining site and the backs of trailers were ridiculously close to each other. Wouldn't be as bad if you happened to be backed up to another Oliver but not the best situation if a big boy is behind you. I would recommend sites 1, 10 and 57-60 in that section. The Horseshoe Loop and Upper Loop provide less shade but a bit more breathing room; I wouldn't recommend sites 71-73 in the Upper Loop unless you have a group and need all of them...again, they are on top of each other. This sounds like fun with multiple Olivers and we would consider attending except that we live in the path of totality. Enjoy Fredericksburg!
  21. Nicely done. As a side note, we are using what look to be the same plastic clips to hold our shower curtain in place while showering and I love those things!!
  22. Has anyone come up with an ingenius Starlink dishy mount yet for the Oliver since we have no ladder to attach it to? You can obviously just set it on the ground or a table but we'd like the option of having it up higher when needed. Considering ordering a flagpole wheel stand and securing it under the front jack but thought I'd ask the brain trust first.
  23. Enjoyed following along. What a trip! And love your Oliver barn!
  24. My sentiments exactly! We bought our 2019 Elite II in fall 2020 and just calculated ours as well. We would be spending a little over $26,000 more if we ordered what we have as a 2023 model. SO glad we were able to find ours and purchase it when we did. As an added bonus, it came with some things I like that are no longer available!
