We’ve been the last three years, either to the Big Show or the Rally or both. Dome Rock BLM is where to go. You can find it on Google Maps, it’s a large area and will have a few hundred campers scattered about. I think it’s Exit 17 off of I-10W, there’s a Love’s on the south side and a Pilot on the north side. Dome Rock road goes west parallel to I-10 on the south side, you’ll see it just in front of the Love’s. Follow it for a few miles west and you’ll see the fiberglass gaggle to the south. Can’t miss it! Mike

Great work by Jason to get us this new platform. It will take some getting used to but should be a great improvement in the long run! Mike

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

We also have a Dyson hand held in the trailer and are very happy with it. I use it in the truck after we’ve been out for a few weeks. Mike -
I just read an article about a new TT from New Zealand called Romotow. They are thinking outside of the box! Mike https://romotow.com/

Possible significant changes in National Parks
Mike and Carol replied to hardrock's topic in Campgrounds & Parks
Coy, this is an important issue for a lot of us. For those who want to post their comments here on why this may or may not be a good idea, please refrain from getting political! Thanks. -
We have the Suburban, going on 4 years. Always works even while camping above 9,ooo feet. No knowledge on the Dometic. Mike

Looking for the best way to change out the bathroom faucet
Mike and Carol replied to Markmck's topic in General Discussion
Could you provide a little more information? What year is your Oliver? I’m pretty sure they changed out bathroom faucets at some point. Which faucet do you have? You are going to need to remove the panel on the front of the sink pedestal to get to the connections. There should be four screws on the front (behind covers) and then cut through the caulking with a utility knife and pull the panel off. It will be tethered by an electrical connection for the water pump. Once you’re in there, you should be able to access the connections. When you replace the front panel you’ll want to re-caulk. It’s easy to do, you can find white caulk at Home Depot or Lowes. I did mine a few years ago and it still looks fine (not for a faucet replacement, we still have the original). Mike -
SylvanSport Vast adventure trailer
Mike and Carol replied to John E Davies's topic in General Discussion
We looked a couple of Black Series last month when we were in Bozeman and then again during a few days in the Salt Lake City area. These are a totally different trailer than the Oliver. Bigger on the outside (HQ19), heavier and very “Airstream” like on the inside. We spent a couple of hours poking and prodding and didn’t see any quality issues of concern. It’s an impressive package. 16231 Mile Trip Expense Summary with Hull #381
Mike and Carol replied to Ken_Judy's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like a great trip! We’ve also found that being flexible makes long trips fun, combination of free, BLM/COE, Parks, commercial. Sounds like HH was useful. I’ve been thinking about joining, do you recommend? Mike -
Skyline Drive, Virginia: Loft Mountain and Lewis Mountain
Mike and Carol replied to SeaDawg's topic in Campgrounds & Parks
No, we didn’t camp there. We need to go back, we’ve been so busy with Rocky Mountain states we haven’t been east in a couple of years. Mike -

Interesting story! Glad it worked out okay... Mike -
Like Pete, and many others, we use TST for our TPMS. It’s a good safety feature to have. Mike

The smaller A/C should be fine. I run ours on low all the time, 13,500 is a bit overkill for the size of the trailer. I agree that this smaller A/C should work well and is probably quieter. If mine quit today I’d look at a smaller replacement. I can’t comment on the Michelins since mine came with BF Goodrich which have been good tires. I’m sure the Coopers will be fine, too. I’ve got just shy of 50K miles on my tires and they still look pretty new. I’ll have to replace them due to age not wear. Welcome to the group. I think the changes are fine, I would certainly be okay with them. Mike

SylvanSport Vast adventure trailer

Many similarities to the Black Series HQ15 and HQ19. Why can’t U.S. manufacturers produce something like this? -
We’re quite a drive from Hohenwald too so having a reliable local RV maintainer was something I worked on early. Fortunately, Bugeyedriver is a neighbor and had found a good local shop which I’ve used. I’m certain he would be able to work on an issue like your shower. I don’t have any specific advice on how to fix your shower floor, although it doesn’t sound too complicated. I’d recommend finding a local RV maintenance shop who should be able to fix this. It also seems like this was discussed a while back. I’ll do a search to see if I can find the thread. Mike OK, did a search and didn’t find any specific instructions, but found that Steve Landrum (Scubarx) replaced a cracked shower floor so he might have some advice. Mike

Can you imagine what a stick built or Airstream would look like after similar trauma? Is this poor Ollie reparable?

"Ollie Gear" Company Store, products desired. Speak up!
Mike and Carol replied to John E Davies's topic in General Discussion
At the last rally we got very nice Oliver insulated mugs. Nice Oliver hats were also available. I think a small virtual “store” with logo hats, T-shirts, polo shirts, camp chairs, mugs, etc. would be popular. Agree that shipping could be when stock is refreshed, can’t compete with Amazon. I’m ready to place my order..... Mike -
Well, we decided to name ours “The Lone Star Oliver”. We even had those words on the side of the trailer in place of “Legacy Elite II”. We never say, “Let’s hook up the Lone Star Oliver and go on a trip.”, we always just say “the trailer” or “Ollie” or “Oliver”. Last year I took the lettering off the side of the trailer because everyone kept asking where in Texas it was made. It was a nice conversation starter for a few years, but got a little tedious, so now we’re incognito. Mike

Atwood Furnace at high altitude
Mike and Carol replied to PapaBiker's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Surprising. A lot of us routinely camp above 5,000 feet. -
Nan, I split this and gave it a new title so it would be more visible. I’m a bit confused by your question. Do you have an Andersen hitch? If yes, the chains are part of the hitch and must be used. If you are talking about safety chains they also must be used. Not sure about the “cable” you’re referring to unless it is the breakaway cable for the trailer brakes. If you could post a picture of what you’re talking about it would be helpful. Mike

That looks great, nice job! Jealous.....

It kinda depends on where you are. I never winterize even though we typically have a week or so where the lows are mid-20s at night. I just turn on a space heater and open the access between the hulls. We like to camp year round so as soon as I would winterize we’d be looking to leave! If the temps are going to be around freezing for a few days I wouldn’t worry about it. If it will be colder longer, then you might consider it. Mike
