Hope I can find the same size replacement pneumatic wheels/tires with bearings to replace the original hard plastic wheels for the 15 gallon tote, will see! 🙂

Our favorite summer campground has a dump station that that has a steep grade in both directions away from the dump making it difficult to drain Ollie's tanks completely. We use a 15 gallon Camco tote to dump grey water daily. It has a trailer hitch connector allowing it to be towed to the dump station. Transport in the bed of the TV when empty. https://www.camco.net/rhino-portable-holding-tank-15-gallon-39000 Our previous TV with Diamonback cover:

Same here with our 2015 Ollie. We keep one operators manual book and a manual bag keeping all of the component operators manuals in Ollie. I like to expand or make refinements to the original manual in the way of addition information or photos with descriptions like water valve positions and receipts for work done by Oliver or parts installed.

torque values for lug nuts
rideandfly replied to Geronimo John's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Here's the wheel on late model Ollies: https://www.lionsheadtireandwheel.com/Jaguar-Aluminum-Wheel Been tightening the original aluminum ION wheel lug nuts on our 2015 LE2 to 95FTLBs and double checking initially after a few hundred miles, no issues after many thousand miles on Ollie. Using 50 PSI for tire inflation pressure. -
Towing test - Tundra vs 1 ton Dodge Diesel
rideandfly replied to Mountainman198's topic in Towing an Oliver
Always thought the Dodge 5.9 powered truck would be a good one to have as a TV. Please forgive me for going Off Topic, We used to install the Cummins 5.9 engine in tie remover/inserter rail machines before I retired. Believe they are now installing the Cummins 6.7 for the same application. -
Same here, we would be scheduled for 2023 at $110 per month.

Purchased white plastic kitchen cutting board from Walmart (UHMH Plastic sheet can also be used) and used a 1 1/8" hole saw to cut out 1" OD plastic plugs to fill the existing ventilation holes in the battery compartment door in our 2015 LE2. Didn't want to mount these plugs permanently, sealed with clear RTV silicone for easy removal.

We replaced our lead/acid batteries with a lithium battery and plugged/sealed Ollie's battery door vents.

Talk to me about the extendable tongue.
rideandfly replied to John E Davies's topic in General Discussion
John, Took a few additional photos and measurements this morning of Oliver's extendable hitch. I do not know what kind of aluminum they used, but I'm sure it has a pedigree. Steve (ScubaRX) probably knows. There are 3 different sizes of square aluminum tube used, outer sizes shown. Everything is 1/4" wall, the very short sleeve welded on close to the hitch is 4" square outer measurement, slipped on and welded in place over the 3 1/2" outer tube with the 3" inner telescoping square tube. The bolt through the short 4" tube is 3/4" Grade 8. The 3 1/2" tube welds to a cross member in the main aluminum frame, about 4' behind the LP tanks. Looks like a major conversion if someone tried to attempt this modification. I can gather additional information, if needed. Already see the next thing I need to do to Ollie, belly wash! -

Tow vehicle struggling to start after towing

SeaDawg asked the first thing I thought about. I personally would not run my refrigerator on DC, would run it on LP gas. -

Happy to share information. The Tundra is making a nice TV for our LE2 Ollie! -
2022 Tundra Hybrid drive test review
rideandfly replied to John E Davies's topic in Towing an Oliver
Our SR5 has a load capacity of 1400 pounds with a 6990 pound GVW. Noticed the heavier Hybrid has a higher GVW. Here's CAT scale results from a February camping trip towing Ollie with the 2022 Tundra. Posted additional information about the 2022 SR5 2WD Tundra here, these reports have additional information on comfort, MPG, and weights. -
2022 Tundra Hybrid drive test review

John, Always though Toyota was spot on advertising specifications. More I look at the charts, the torque is not close to advertised specs. -
2022 Tundra Hybrid drive test review
rideandfly replied to John E Davies's topic in Towing an Oliver
Believe the 2022 Tundra Hybrid and 2023 Sequoia Hybrid will be beast for towing. They will be developing power/torque in the lower RPM ranges like a diesel. Our 2022 Tundra's 3.5L V6 (without Hybrid system) is very powerful as a TV for Ollie, can only imagine how the Hybrid will be as a TV. -
Nan, Can't wait to hear about the results!

Will do on the 59 Quick Wax. We have not encountered artillery spores. Hope Bill will tell us how he resolves the issue.

Agree with SeaDawg and dewdev, We have tried many products on Ollie and after talking to Meguiar's, they recommended using #67 one step compound & Flagship wax for water spots I could not remove with normal washing and waxing. This process also removed black streaks/spots and they will wipe off easily after application of Miguiar's Flagship wax with a wet microfiber towel right after the rain. For maintenance between wax only I'm going to try Meguiar's #59 Quick Wax occasionally after Ollie's bath to help maintain the Meguiar's Flagship Wax. Normally washing before waxing is all that is needed without using a compound.

Our Grandchildren call me Paw-Paw! 👍 I had to work hard "with throttle control" to get that number towing a 4900 pound LE2, my goal was 15MPG towing Ollie with the 2022 Tundra. When we tow on interstates in TN, we get a little better MPG, wonder if it's their pavement composition with less rolling resistance. Shooting for 16MPG when we travel in TN, will see! 🙂

Checked MPG with onboard computer on a trip home from camping in the NC foothills today, about 70 miles towing Ollie. Speed limits ranged from 45MPH to 65MPH. I intentionally take off easy from stops and don't use cruise control while towing. Very easy on the throttle getting 15MPG today with the 2022 Tundra towing Ollie, about 2700 miles on the Tundra, so far. The on board computer has been close to MPG comparing fuel used to miles driven. It would be very easy to get less MPG if I accelerated harder from stops and was not easy overall on the throttle. Some folks on the Tundra forum with their 2022 Tundra get 15 to 16MPG not towing. I get 19MPG around town and 22MPG highway not towing, but I drive differently than some folks.

Leaking windows when it rains

We use a garden hose to simulate heavy rain with one person directing water where we suspect the exterior leak with the other watching inside. Hope it goes well tomorrow! -
Leaking windows when it rains
rideandfly replied to Citrus breeze's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
We purchased Ollie used and initially had two leaks, one coming in at the top of the dinette window from the exterior light above the window and one coming in from the rear Oliver sign lens leaking on the starboard bed from the rear window. Removed the exterior light fixture over the dinette window, then resealed leaving a drain in the bottom of the "old style" light fixture and have not had leaks there for years. Had to remove the rear Oliver sign lens and reseal stopping that leak for years, too. In both cases the water traveled down from exterior leak between inner & outer hulls coming out at the windows. Hope this helps! -
Here's a modification I did over a couple years span ending up with one 100W Renogy Suitcase, PD4045 Lithium charge section, Renogy 20A waterproof controller, 10A Furrion solar port, up to 36' of solar charge cable, single Battle Born 100AH battery, and Victron Bluetooth shunt to see battery condition on smartphone. Charging the Lithium battery this morning with this system.
