I just visited South Pass City a few days ago!
-
Two years later and another friend recommended C.J. Box -- I listened to "Open Season" (#1 in the Pickett series) and I couldn't put it down! Thanks to @mossemi and @topgun2 for the mentions here. It was great fun especially given my time spent in Wyoming this summer -- I recognized (and had visited) most of the places mentioned!

If you sign into your account you can find the information. If you have more than one device, you choose the one that you want to start Standby Mode, etc. It's pretty easy.

Greetings to the Oliver that passed me on August 13th around 3:20pm -- you were heading south on Rte 28 in Wyoming -- over the South Pass (just a bit north of Hudson WY I think) -- I flashed my lights. I think I saw Red and Blue color on the Oliver front decal?
-
I received two emails from SL on 8/13. One is titled "Action Requested: Switch to Standby Mode" and the other is titled "Terms of Service Update".

An excellent read.

I was awakened by flashing blue lights!

Maybe to be more specific .... I have painters tape on the control panels of the Microwave, SeaLevel2 control panel, and the Norcold fridge; I close up the usb ports, and then I put a jacket on the floor near front dinette seat (to cover the bright light at the CO2 monitor) and I have thought about taping paper over the Solar Charge Controller! I haven't had the flashing blue lights occur. :) -

Not feeling very confident to do any rewiring, I live with blue painters tape on a lot of the little lights inside my Oliver. Maybe one day I will find someone to help me do this project for reducing the glow. -
I've greatly enjoyed time at Medicine Lodge Archaeological Site SP and campground. The state park is a real gem, with hiking trails, petroglyphs and pictographs, a beautiful creek (fishing permitted with license), flora and fauna -- a green oasis along the western slope of the beautiful Big Horn Mountains. Archaeological digs have revealed over 10,000 years of human occupation at this site -- a rare find in North America. There are dry camping sites, electrical sites, reservable sites and some that are strictly FF. If you decide to come here, be sure that you are: (1) looking at the correct campground, as there are others called 'Medicine Lodge' that are part of the Forest -- and those might be fine, but this one is within walking distance to most of the park's public areas; (2) carefully studying the route and the road conditions before you venture away from wifi/cell reception, because google and apple maps will suggest a road that is a washboard dirt road -- and there is even a sign that suggests it's the way to Hyattville -- but there is a better path. You can read about the park here: https://wyoparks.wyo.gov/index.php/places-to-go/medicine-lodge I used the "Lower Campground" -- sites 1 through 9, but there are very nice sites scattered throughout the park, all of them along sections of Medicine Lodge Creek. Lower Campground, site #7 is in the middle -- other sites are around the perimeter. Some of the petroglyphs view of Medicine Lodge Creek in the park If you're coming from the west, take 31 from Manderson. If you're coming from the east (south) take Lower Nowood Road (NOT the Ten Sleep Hyattville Road) and STAY on Lower Nowood Road until you reach the junction with 31 (Do NOT follow the green highway sign that points to the unpaved washboard road to Hyattville). Go east on 31 from Lower Nowood and turn on Cold Springs Road, then to County Road 52 (unpaved) following signs to the park.

Robert Earl Keen, a Texan singer-songwriter from Kerrville, is leading this fundraising effort. Tickets went on sale today at noon and they are already sold out. Perhaps they will schedule another show? If I were in Texas, I would want to be there. https://www.tixr.com/groups/whitewaterrocks/events/rek-and-friends-applause-for-the-cause-151115

Connor Battlefield SP is a beautiful little park that is fully surrounded within an oxbow of the Tongue River. It is a lovely green oasis with decent sites featuring grilles and tables (no hookups), and the park has restrooms and other amenities. It's First Come First Served (FF) but each day there were a few sites open. I recommend site #4 because it's tucked in a corner with a broad expanse of grass up to the river's edge. There are lots of shady Cottonwood trees. A little gem! If you are looking for a meal on the town, the Tongue River Brewery offers an incredible pizza! https://wyoparks.wyo.gov/index.php/places-to-go/connor-battlefield

Hello Doug! Glad to see you on the forum. Are you loving your Oliver? :)))

Years before I even considered buying a travel trailer, I witnessed a TV struggling with sway and since I wasn’t driving, I was able to focus on the entire event. In slow motion, from my point of view, the trailer eventually took control and rolled both vehicles over on the highway. They were just ahead and beside us and it was a real eye opener. Beyond that, I had a friend who killed her TV by towing up a steep incline, and it was a problem. I knew I wanted to travel in the mountains, so my decision was firm. Occasionally I hear comments about my “oversized” TV with my Oliver, but I drive with confidence in the match — no regrets!

I put a wad of paper towel in the hole! But now I have my temporary fix in place: a small piece of rubber, with a little hole punched in it for the leg.
-
@Snackchaser Thank you! I will check my schedule and see where I might have them delivered. I did try finding parts on the Dometic website, and couldn’t find this particular stovetop. As an aside, I learned last year that *not all Post Offices will accept General Delivery packages* — a shock to me. My Grandfather was a Postmaster.
-
I looked in the silverware drawer, but maybe I should empty it completely. I went to the hardware and purchased “Red Rubber Sheet Packing” (I would call it a piece of rubber, 2 pieces in the package) I am going to work on making a foot with a hole (for the stove top leg). If it’s successful, I will add it to my post.

I have looked for over an hour, and can’t find the missing small black rubber grommet/gasket that supports the front corner of the cast iron (will try to attach photos from phone.) I can’t believe it could have squeezed down into the stove unit — it was there when I lifted out the cast iron after cooking a messy meal today. I even went through my entire garbage bag to be sure it wasn’t stuck in a paper towel. Has anyone tried to find a replacement? I’m trying to think of other pliable, soft but firm things I can use as temporary. Otherwise the cast iron will be rattling around. Any suggestions appreciated. I’m in Cody area today, so hardware is available, but tomorrow I head out boondocking and away for about 2 weeks.

I've towed my Oliver 5,800 miles so far this year and I've only seen two other Olivers on the road.

Something I need to add to my maintenance list, I guess!

I finished my first visit to Idaho this week, and it was a great trip, though I wish I had more time. Coming from Jackson, my first stop was Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve where I managed to land a spot in the Lava Flow campground (FF and somewhere in the fine print, they warn people not to pull trailers past a certain number). The park is generally viewed by driving along a loop road, with some parking at various spots. There are opportunities to hike up and around lava formations, as well as climbing down into lava caves. It was very windy! I recommend the hike up the Inferno Cone (a stiff hill that is longer than it appears) where you can see the Great Rift, the Snake River Plain, the Pioneer Mountains and the Teton Range 100 miles to the east. Entry into the caves requires a free permit from the Visitor Center (with instructions from staff). The campground was okay; it's in a lava field so the sites are arranged around the landscape.

How many different KEY's do you have?

What a great reminder -- the first time I heard about the Lock Picking Lawyer (here on the forum, naturally) I watched some of the videos, and THAT is when I changed up how I lock my Oliver! -
A belated Hello to the Oliver who passed me heading west towards Craters of the Moon National Monument, on Sunday 6/15. Idaho plates, I believe — it’s my first time in Idaho and it’s been lovely touring, hiking and soaking in the hot springs on my loop through the Sawtooth Mountains.
