  1. That ring is odd looking, it may be my Aunt Edna's long lost nose ring. You will have to clean out all that gunk to know for sure. The hull "scupper drains" are located lower down that that, in channels. Good luck. John Davies Spokane WA
  2. Sully, what is the tongue weight of your trailer, loaded for towing? Do you travel with full water tank? Is your Audi a diesel? What year? What is the non-towing mpgs? https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a22498617/2017-audi-q7-long-term-road-test-wrap-up-review/ Please add trailer and vehicle info to your signature. Thanks. John Davies Spokane WA
  3. Those rear jacks really should have relays mounted close to them. I wonder what the surge current amps is… that would actually be a pretty simple mod. But it is a lot simpler to swap a $3 switch that pops out and in with retainer clips. Like my hot water heater outside switch that froze solid on the last trip. #%^* crappy RV parts. Grrr. John Davies Spokane WA
  4. Probably won’t work because the backspacing of trailer wheels is different than most car wheels. DT website will not allow you to buy tires without entering a vehicle model. John Davies Spokane WA
  5. LOL, I can get two switches for $7. maybe I should order 4 and put the extras in my spares kit. They cannot be high quality for that price. I bet the contacts get dirty and then arc electrically. Contact cleaner did not help mine any. It just made the outside super clean. Baomain Momentary Rocker Switch 6 Pin DPDT Button On/Off/On AC 250V/10A 125V/15A Black Pack of 2 Thanks for the info. John Davies Spokane WA
  6. That is HIGHLY unprofessional and disappointing. It is a good data point I guess. John Davies Spokane WA
  7. Was it broken down into parts and labor? It actually sounds about right for a commercial installation. My private labor hours were literally countless. There is a lot of labor involved in getting the old unit out (door frame removal) plus hazmat disposal fee. I bet Oliver would cut out all the old structure and epoxy in place a new fiberglass frame and face piece. My parts alone (retail prices) were about $2200. It is a really big job. I would not attempt it again, but mine has been stellar. John Davies Spokane WA
  8. Can somebody save me from having to file a Service ticket? One of mine has failed (won’t return to center). I want to replace both. Mine are the old style mounted on the front of the dog house. They seem to be pretty poor quality, a water resistant upgrade would be welcome information. Thanks. John Davies Spokane WA
  9. Update with some help for those in the East that are facing hazardous smoke concentrations for the first time. As Toxic Wildfire Smoke Lingers, Americans Are Turning to DIY Air Purifiers https://www.grainger.com/know-how/equipment-information/kh-what-is-merv-rating-air-filter-rating-chart I use MERV 12 filters in my central HVAC system at home (and also in the Ollie). I run the home fan continuously when air quality is bad and in allergy season and replace the filter bimonthly. Nordic Pure online filters home page at Amazon John Davies Spokane WA
  10. Spotted at an Oregon beach campground, a rather nice Ford Transit van. BTW there were about four Sprinters in the same area. Lots of nasty salt sea mist at that place, I have been completely detailing ”Mouse”: John Davies Spokane WA
  11. That is irritating, has anyone asked for a wiring diagram? If both left and right light wires are run to the switch, you could simply disconnect and secure the left side wire. The light wouldn’t ever function, but if you never use that side, it wouldn’t matter. If they are wired in series (just one wire at the switch) then you would have to get creative. Or live with the situation. I never use my street side light anyway…. and I have independent control. John Davies Spokane WA
  12. Take the fan off, clean the two screens and check for corrosion on the power receptacle connector. If it is corroded, email NH and they will send you at no cost TWO fan assemblies with housings and with the much better potting (waterproof material). If you have an air compressor, you can use a blow gun with a needle type ball inflator. Insert the needle into the hose joint and blow, it should pop right off. I haven’t heard of this before, please add info and a picture to this thread. https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/1978-nature039s-head-composting-toilet-installation-in-an-oliver-big-thread/ John Davies Spokane WA
  13. LOL, Lucky you, wait until it goes off scale. We have been at AQ 500 a few times in the last two years. Visibility very close to nil. When we were camping in southern BC we literally had ash fall. Fortunately we had shore power, I kept the air breathable by running my inside HEPA filter and by using furnace filters in the windows. John Davies Spokane WA
  14. FYI… https://ca.news.yahoo.com/never-experienced-anything-like-this-canadians-stunned-by-wildfire-smoke-213551714.html It’s coming for you… John Davies Spokane WA
  15. What exactly are you asking? Do you want to run the AC off the batteries for long periods? That is physically impossible. You HAVE to carry a large enough generator to run the AC from it if you are not plugged into shore power, there is no way that the solar panels alone can recharge that huge battery bank when it is depleted. Running AC or the microwave, AKA Battery Killer, consumes VAST amounts of electrical power. If you don’t use your Olllie, why keep it, that is very costly. Sell it so someone else can enjoy it. John Davies Spokane WA
  16. Because they are better for how I use my trailer. ST tires are overbuilt and FAR stiffer to withstand abuse better like overloading, under inflating or driving too fast. They do not have the tread pattern I desire, or the sidewall cut protection. Using STs on very lightly loaded axles like on an LE2 is far from ideal. IMHO, of course everybody can disagree. Is Oliver still supplying LT tires on new trailers? Wouldn’t you prefer off road tires on your off road Oliver? John Davies Spokane WA
  17. Bump for update about Tent Camping here, see the first post edit at the top... John Davies Spokane WA
  18. Anybody else had this happen? They insist on ST tires due to liability. I was pretty steamed but I remained polite. With difficulty!. Comments? Is this happening to other owners? From other stores? Thanks John Davies Spokane WA
  19. FYI about that outside switch, it a poor design in that it is completely unsealed, mine froze in the ON position, locked solid. I have a replacement on order. It too is “backwards” from USA standards, the on position is down. And it is $8 for what should be a $2 component, perhaps because of its unique design. I am going to mount the new switch upside down so ON is up. Any reason I shouldn’t? John Davies Spokane WA
  20. Mountainoliver, I may not be the only member who is curious about your light. It has a Victorian vibe. 😀 Can you elaborate? And I really like that stout cross support. Excellent! John Davies Spokane WA
  21. I agree, self taping screws of any size is not an appropriate method here. There are a lot of violent dynamic forces going on during towing. Especially if the load is unsecured inside and unbalanced side to side. That is why Oliver uses u-bolts there… I mounted a similar very light duty box inside my Ram 3500 cabin for carrying gear, it worked great there. I sold it to a guy who was going to mount it on the back of his ATV, I never heard back from him. I wonder how long it lasted before flying completely off in the backwoods… John Davies Spokane WA
  22. That’s cool, welcome and thanks for posting. You should consider rounding off those top corners tho, they can draw blood. Where did you get the zee? My local source sells by the inch. I bet a 24 foot section cost You a fortune…. John Davies Spokane WA
  23. There is an Edit function on the drop down box, click the “3 Dots” symbol to reveal it. You can edit any post that you made regardless of its age. For example: It is actually quite easy. Most problems with picture are due to slow Internet connections, like using cell in a sketchy cell zone. I do wish there was a way for a poster to delete his post. Thanks for posting them, the more pics the better IMHO. John Davies Spokane WA
  24. If the unit is not secured using screws, how do you know that it is still level after changing batteries? Do you relevel the trailer each time? It seems as if screw mounting would be most trouble free in the long run. I wish the small aftermarket manufacturers would use better looking and smaller boxes, most I have seen are ugly, kludgy in operation and way to large, like a project box from Radio Shack. The LevelMate looks crude with the protruding screw ears…. Here is the Fridge Defend box: Isotherm gets it “almost” right, it is very slick, except for the bizarre curved smily face shape and the flashlight bright LED numbers, which I had to cover. How satisfied are owners with the LevelMate appearance? Maybe a white version would work better, or just paint the box…. John Davies Spokane WA
  25. Up as high as possible is best! https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/1973-how-to-install-a-garmin-bc-30-backup-camera/ You want to be able to view any cargo hanging off the back, as well as down the road. John Davies Spokane WA
