1.
Thanks for the heads up on the boondocks site. We are at Rawlins WY this evening after a fun day of sightseeing along I 80.

I will ill keep an eye out for the road and let you know how it turned out.

2. After a few days of visiting family in beautiful Denver, we are hooked up again leaving for Wyoming in the early morning hours. Tetons, Jackson, a splurge into Idaho, and Yellowstone all on the coming week or so agenda. Though not camping, Denver has been good.
3. If I had known, we would have stopped by, Comanche. If no other reason than to see how such an ancient hull is holding up. We are at the CO/KS border tonight. We got caught in a KS hail, rain, and wind storm. 64 is stabilized and remains attached to the tv, but we are rocking like a 20' sail boat in a gale. Hoping the hail did no damage up on the roof. I think this is Dorothy's old house next to my camp.
4. I am guessing she is Dorothy and you are Toto? leaving Kansas for Colorado soon. We'll be there a few days before heading North.
5.
Hull 64 carried us into a magical land of Oz.

6. Matt: That is SO cool, thank you. I especially love all the component information.
7. Clever ideas abound on the forum! I joined Amazon Prime two days ago and my first free delivery order was a set of these cubes.
8. Hey, Dan..and welcome! By 2022 you will be looking at beatiful electronics and appliances. Your four digit Hull Number will make us all a bit jealous. Keep the dream and best wishes up there meanwhile.
9. In Mississippi, I was charged for registration, but no sales tax. My total cost was about $250. For once, it is a good place to be!
10. Great thread! I have 7,000 miles with my F150 as TV and had never heard of the issue. Now, when it happens, I won't panic and disconnect/reconnect in the middle of the highway to try and solve it. I can then revisit here for the solution. BTW, I left my Ollie in Hohenwald after the rally and am headed up there to get it today. Now that I know there IS a problem, it will probably bite me this afternoon. Forewarned is forearmed.
11. Elizabeth and I had a great time as well. Special thanks to the Ollie owners who together with Matt and Coy provided a great time for all. The things I will remember over time include meeting so many of the Oliver community, and building relationships with a few of you as well as strengthening the relationship with Oliver itself. I don't remember his name, but there was a gentleman in the office taking delivery when we visited Monday morning. He was overwhelmed with all the praise that the (several) owners in the office awaiting service gave his decision. Maybe odd, but I will also remember grilling (in the cold rain) some great burgers. I had a great bike ride on the Natchez Trace-it was simply beautiful. I took time on the bike to visit the little historic sites, including the Merriweather Lewis site. Hard to imagine he had accomplished so much before a "mysterious" and untimely death in his 30's. Makes me feel lazy, by comparison. Q and A was very useful. I guess I will have to buy some levelers and quit using my jacks. I can now walk on my Ollie without fear of roof damage...being careful not to trip on anything. We left Hull 64 with Oliver for a few days and will be driving back up to get in soon. We are off on our big NW Adventure after that...perhaps the 3rd week of May. We'll spend our 34th Anniversary in Denver, then off to Yellowstone..and beyond. Not sure where as yet. Wishing each of you a safe and brilliantly pleasureable camping season. Mike
12. We are at site 5 since Thursday pm.
13. Rally is off to a cool rainy start. SnowlakeMike is at site 5 hoping for dry weather to grill lunch burgers.
14. Congratulations on your new Ollie (and your new family life), I love the new rig look. Honestly, I am always surprised by everyones' comments on colors. Yes, I see the little stripes, but to me the color is white on white. With Ollie, it is always white. Reminds me of the old axiom about Henry Ford and the model T Colors: They can have any color they want as long as it is black. We are packing today for the Rally at Hohenwald.I washed off the winter dirt and dust from the outer shell and the tow vehicle two days ago. I think I will buy a cover before next winter. Today, I plan clean inside, pack, and get ready to hit the road in the morning (Thursday). Hope to get a ride in with you guys along the trace somewhere. I will be bringing my Cannondale to this, my first family reunion! Looking forward
15. Kathy and Clair, WHEN you decide to come to the Ollie, do a couple of things. Post an RSVP or call Ollie (my suggestion; to see how amicable they are) and let them know you are coming. Ask for details on the scheduled plant tours during the rally. Lurking is a great way to learn some of the possibilities with Ollie, but the tour will show you the dedication to quality that is evident in each and every hull. Look forward to seeing you there.
16. I love the idea of extra storage inside the propane area! At least with an access port so I don't have to remove that darn thing. I already have stabilizers (manual) towards the front. Trumpet Guy added them before he abandoned Ollie to AS. Motions sensitive porch light would be useful, and probaly easy to add a battery operated one ourselves in this age. Should stick right on, perhaps on the door itself. The Donald and I are both blessed with small hands, so the sewer is not problem for us.
17. Works for me to look at the top menu bar. If I am logged out, it will read "login". If I am in, it reads "logout". I have had my status change back and forth while I am on the site though...not sure what is up with that.
18. Here's to your Ollie, your family, and your new Ollie family. I am a fairly new owner of a used Ollie, still experimenting and still learning (aren't those part of the enjoyment?). There are huge lists of things I might want to buy to add to our enjoyment of camping, especially as our trips become longer excursions. A ladder is on that list...about midway. Still, our approach is that we'd rather wait to experience a need for each item before we lug it with us, as opposed to buying a ton of stuff to head off expected needs that never materialize. Perhaps, I will need a travel ladder on the road at some point, but so far...not. (after only 6,500 miles or so- and perhaps 60 nights). Of course I have ladders and other methods of roof access at home. To ScubaRX's point, I also watched the crew walking on Ollie Rooftop while doing the plant tour. I asked that particular question and they said it is no problem. I have spent a few brief moments on mine..and it did not collapse. Perhaps this is a question that should be asked at the Rally. Congratulations on your purchase. See you on the road!
19. I was leaving the gym in Holly Springs, MS about 4:30 pm yesterday, October 30th. As I went out the door, I looked across I-22 (Hwy 78) and saw what appeared to be an Ollie circling the Walmart parking lot. I naturally had to investigate. I drove to Walmart and found the Ollie there. It was a brand new Hull 199 headed home to Texas. I flagged Don and Ginger down and they stopped to see what I wanted. I could see there concern as I walked up..likely wondering..."what is this guy doing? Is he going to chase us off?". I introduced myself, and soon learned that they had misgivings about spending the night at this particular Walmart. (It is an older store, in a poor neighbrhood, closes early, and has zero security). I told them that I didn't blame them, but could really only recommend one parking spot nearby-my house. So I brought them home, alerting the wife by phone as we caravaned. Spent a few hours with the new owners, talking towing, hitching, campsites, discount clubs, and reviewing the upgrades Ollie has made since manufacture of my Hull 64. Such a fun evening welcoming new family members into our (yours and my) Ollie family and our (my) home. By the way, I was most impressed with all I have learned since I picked up my Ollie (from Trumpet Guy) in Sept 2016. Good luck, Don and Ginger!
20. We woke up in early January, dedided it was too cold for us, and since we have an Ollie, why not? Some friends of ours are snowbirds in South Texas, near Mission at a RV Park named Bentson Grove (Actually in the town of Palmview, Tx). We left home in North MS (cold?) and headed South West. Took four days to travel the 1,000 miles to our destination. One RV camp along the route that I would recommend was named River View at Vidalia, LA. Park right along the Mississippi River, spend time in an old Southern City (Natchez)...great place. Snowbirding at Bentsen Grove was fantastic. They had so much to do! I enjoyed the bike club with their frequent "rides to breakfast". Some rides were a bit more challenging than the breakfast rides, with maybe 7 riders vs the 25 riding to a meal. I also enjoyed the ping-pong and pickle ball. Elizabeth had her own activities to include an art class, glass work..etc. We visited the World Birding Center for riding and hiking (as well as viewing a few birds). Dances each Friday night, Spanish lessons...way too much to cover. I actually spent very little time in the Ollie except to sleep. If you are cold reading this Check out the website at www.bentsengroveresort.com. We stayed a month...highly recommended if you want to be around so many people and engaged in lots of activities.
21. We have reservations for the Rally in May and the Eclipse (Land Between the Lakes) in August. Other than that, who knows? We leave tomorrow to tour and visit South LA and South TX. Probably three to four weeks of travel and camping...but no real firm destinations in mind. Other than that, we have loosely planned a NorthWest Adventure in late Spring or Early Summer. We'll try to hit all those areas that we have never visited including the Dakotas, Montana, Washington, and Oregan. I have laid out a tentative route...but we'll basically drift around. Likely close the trip in Colorado (Denver/Breck) area before returning home. No idea about Fall as yet. I smell a gathering of fiberglass somewhere fun. So many places I want to go...can't do it all this year. Quebec is on our list. Alaska is sort of on mine, but I need more experience. I am intimidated by the long trip and remote areas. Maybe next year?
22. I am sorry, Buzzy. We have lost a few friends over the years and they are missed.
23. It may be too obvious to mention, but there is a finance link under Travel Trailers among the headers on this website. I think it lists several vendors willing to finance your Ollie.
24. If considering loading ramps, besides safety, it is vital to consider the angle at which they will connect to the truck. If too steep, a heavy street bike may not have clearance to load or unload. My ramps are rated at 1,000 pounds and work fine for a 4-wheeler or a dirt bike, but will not load my street bike without help from a hillside (to raise the low end of the ramp, reducing the angle and the top-thus increasing clearance.) Backing the bike off onto a hillside is not an attractive option unless you can find a hill top to drop the ramp onto. Makes them practically unusable for the HD street bike. Notice how Grayson's ramps curve near the top. Much better option than straight ramps.
