After 7 years, the CO/propane detector needed replacement. The alarm stayed on and wouldn’t reset. Got on Amazon and ordered the one linked below, perfect fit. Says to replace every 5 years. 2 min. Job. Even came with its own quick connects. I know there are previous posts about this, just thought I would update with a new one since this topic will be coming up for others soon.

Thanks rideaduece.  Same boat here and ordered the same replacement.  I do notice that the Atwood had 2 red wires and 1 black and the RV brand one only requires 1 red and 1 black.  I'm assuming you just twisted the 2 reds together to attach to the red on the RV detector?

I did this swap few weeks ago and immediately noticed the same thing, however once started tracing the red wire back and pulled back some of the wire loom found the red wire is one wire coming from power source with a y splice to make 2 red wires. I just cut the red wire at the splice and ran 1 red to new detector.

Thanks Derek.  Very easy swap.

Late last year a number of us experienced the alarm going off after winterizing with RV Antifreeze.

I purchased the same one and used small Wago connectors. The install was easy. However I must have touched wire ends, as there was no power to the unit.

Turns out I blew the fuse for it. This fuse is under the street side bed, below the 3 jack fuses and is black.

I also carry a battery operated one as back up.

I wrote a mod post on this. I strongly suggest moving the bus under the street side bed to the area under the rear dinette seat. Blow a fuse and remove a bed, what was OTT thinking?! 🤣

We didn’t blow that fuse - but had to pull it when the original CO/Propane detector started throwing false alarms - at 3am of course. No fun being awakened without real cause, being deaf for 5 minutes, or having to dislodge the two panicked cats from the ceiling. And yes, it’s not an ideal location for a fuse.

I was loathe to replace the failed detector - still supposedly WELL within its stated service life - with another unreliable one. So we ordered this one.

It sticks out a bit further, and it’s brown instead of white (which I actually like) but it has the advantage of actually having a readout that shows the propane or CO PPM that it’s detecting.

There's a thread here on the Forum that deals with the installation of an on/off switch for this detector.  This sure does make dealing with that errant detector a 2 or 3 in the morning a bunch easier.  Note that the pic below shows the bracket for the switch with the opeing for the detector in the background.  Also note that it is good practice in using this switch you also have a method of warning yourself that the detector has been turned off and that there is actually NO propane and/or CO present.

I guess if detector false alarms are common enough, the switch makes good sense. I’m sure some safety expert somewhere is shuddering at the thought of people selectively disabling their CO/propane detector.

The “reminder” I have that my detector is inoperative is the replacement sitting on the counter goading me to install it.
