When not using the Anderson WDH, make sure you are also not using the Anderson hitch at all, meaning specifically the ball on the cone. Without the WDH boomerang piece bolted through the bottom, the ball is merely held in place by a snap ring which could fail allowing the cone and ball to come up and off. With a standard ball it is common practice to grease it. Get a rubber cover for when detached before it soils your pant leg! Use any thick grease so it stays put. I use red wheel bearing grease since I have several tubes of it on hand. Edited 17 hours ago by jd1923 3 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins!

Markmck Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago Thanks very much! Excellent advice about covering the ball. 1
Zodd Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I use some white lithium but to each their own. Here is a good video on it and he even calls out how the Anderson hitch is different than others. 2 Todd & Kat 2023 LE ll twin, hull # 1305, Truma AC & WH, Platinum solar, Natures Head 2024 Ford F250 Lariat 7.3L gasser / 3.75, FX4

John Dorrer Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I bought 2 ball covers, but soon found the grease would still get on them. I ruined 2 pair of shorts. My fix is a sealable sandwich bag, which can get a few uses before I replace it. I seal the bag and the grease keeps the bag from coming off will out and about. I like the CURT brand; standard 1-7/8” to 2” or 2-5/16” diameter ball sizes. I’m also a fan of the Mission Automotive dielectric grease, which I need more of when back in stock.
