Moderators topgun2 Posted August 20, 2019 Moderators Posted August 20, 2019 Nice camper AND nice tow vehicle. You were a bit smarter in taking 8 days for that trip compared to my taking 3 days to get from West Yellowstone back to the Mothership in Hohenwald. Enjoy the heck out of that nice Ollie and please keep us informed on how its going. theOrca Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Hi: I'm in Oak Harbor. Our plan is to order a 2020 model for pick-up next March. Just out of curiosity, how many days did you plan for, or actually take, to drive back? I'm going to be solo for the trip east and west (my other half sez "that does not sound like a vacation trip!") Moderators SeaDawg Posted August 20, 2019 Moderators Posted August 20, 2019 Sounds like a great vacation trip, if you plan to take the time. March is often really pretty in middle tennesse. It's west that's an issue. If you're retired, amble south for awhile. Warm temps, no snow. Moderator+ ScubaRx Posted August 20, 2019 Moderator+ Posted August 20, 2019 ...I’m going to be solo for the trip east and west (my other half sez “that does not sound like a vacation trip!”) Bill Oh my goodness, half the fun is the drive. She's gonna be missing out! We just spent 90 days on the road covering almost 14,000 miles. We drove through Oak Harbor on our way down to Coupeville to visit Ebey's Landing National Historic Reserve. We ate at the Coupeville Wharf and bought some books at a sale the Library was having. We never have an itinerary and never make reservations. I think it took us another 3 weeks to get home from there. Take your time, enjoy the ride, it won't last forever. 3 Steve, Tali and our dog Rocky plus our beloved dogs Storm, Lucy, Maggie and Reacher (all waiting at the Rainbow Bridge) 2008 Legacy Elite I - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #026 | 2014 Legacy Elite II - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #050 | 2022 Silverado High Country 3500HD SRW Diesel 4x4

Naegele Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 We are taking the factory tour next Friday! We have a seven month old F-150 with the Echoboost, 10 speed and 3.55 axle. What has been your impression of your truck pulling the Ollie?
MandD Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Our eco boost pulls the Elite II up and down any mountain pass we have tried in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Idaho, etc. without problems. However, you might be surprised about the very reduced gas mileage when towing. There are times we are deep into single digits. The 36 gallon tank is a must when traveling in the more remote parts of the Rockies.
Naegele Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Not too surprised and thanks for responding. I heard it said the engine is all economy or it’s all boost, depending on driving conditions. I have ban keeping my trucks 7-8 years and 150k miles but think I’m going the run 3-4 years and trade it model for a change. I spent a lot on tires, brakes, etc. on high mile trucks in the past.
Moderators topgun2 Posted August 24, 2019 Moderators Posted August 24, 2019 The Ecoboost engine is really surprising but it really does seem to perform as you say - either economy or "boost". Of course when that boost is on and you are not towing you better hang onto that seat. I just returned from two months fishing in Montana (from Western North Carolina). According to my truck's computer I got right at 13 miles to the gallon for the whole trip. Certainly I wish that number was higher but there was never even a question about towing even when all the tanks were full - the truck handles hills with no problem at all. And during most of the rest of the year when I'm not towing (and not punching that gas pedal) the gas mileage in the low 20's is very nice. Naegele Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 No doubt it’s fun to drive. My 2010 F-150 literally weighed about 900 lbs more so if you hammer the new truck it is a blast! But I did not think I was buying a 6000 lb trailer (loaded) when I bought it. I’ll probably run it about 45-50k miles and get a GMC Duramax or a Ford diesel. My issue is my garage is only 20 ft deep so a short bed something is a must.
Galway Girl Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 Updated our trailer with her Name: Galway Girl Used the same 3M Vinyl that the factory used. Galway Girl Posted August 27, 2019 Author Posted August 27, 2019 Here's the link to amazon for the Oracal I used. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071W2CVJB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Amazon sells it in sheets or rolls. I chose sheets as it fits exactly in our Cricut machine. I've learned to only use fonts that are a bit wider and be careful to use a new blade and set pressure to 5-6 (high). Then to remove the letters in one sheet, it's easier to push them through the cuts, leaving them on the cutting mat (removing the bulk of the material). After that it's easy to use remover sheets on the top of the cutouts. I've also added this using the Middle Grey color on the back tire cover for our future travel v/blog page. 1 2019 Elite II (Hull 505 - Galway Girl - August 7, 2019 Delivery) Tow Vehicle: 2021 F350 King Ranch, FX4, MaxTow Package, 10 Speed, 3.55 Rear Axle Batteries Upgrade: Dual 315GTX Lithionics Lithiums - 630AH Total Inverter/Charger: Xantrex 2000Pro Travel BLOG: https://4-ever-hitched.com
