Just an FYI for those with older Ollie's like mine. Check to see if your door frame has the hinges built into it. If so, these won't work..  Maybe not a Lippert door, or maybe just a different model?

Buy Amazon used when you can! The "Like New" ones are now under $15! I bought this used set, and the parts had not been touched. The tape on the box was cut to open, re-taped, but nothing else. I have saved well over $1000 on 30+ Amazon used items in the last few years! If too used, just return it. This has only happened to me twice in 30+ items.

Yours is an older hull, and our hull 113 is 6 years newer. Maybe you have a different make door. I have heard the older Olivers were built one-off.

Just to be sure, have the friction hinge spread to the 90 degree position and hold the door frame all the way open. This way mine snapped into place. I can show you a picture of mine tomorrow, if you like, and post a picture of your door hinges for comparison so we can see if the brand/model is truly different.

This kit definitely won't work on our door. As you can see in the pic the hinge is made as part of the door frame which makes it impossible to add additional hinges. Well, maybe I could cut sections out of the frame to make it fit but I'm not going down that road..

"One-off".. We haven't named her yet, but maybe this fits as ours is certainly a one-off.. The first LEII sold, the last Ollie sold before the shutdown, and the only one titled as a 2010. Many differences from the LEII's sold after production resumed too.

We're not naming ours, so the name is yours if you want it! Yes, you certainly have a very special "One-Off" Oliver and the door on hull 113 six years later is quite different, I guess a Lippert door. The hinge top of pic is the friction hinge. The riveted one below it the original door hinge. Three original, 2 friction and the whole length is now hinged for a very strong installation.

I just ordered a set of these a couple days ago for Ollie-Haus. Our hinges are the new style of course so install should be quick and painless. We've experienced the wind catching the door and quickly realized we needed the extra level of "assist" for protecting the door assembly.

Not sure that the added hinges caused our door frame to break, but after a few months this happened.

Maybe you installed the wrong kit for your door or installed it in the wrong orientation. The one extra-large hinge bracket with the two screws sticking more than a 1/4" into the door jamb area is likely the cause of your door failure.

Note the Lippert Friction Hinge installed in our Oliver entrance door. The rivets show the original hinges, and the screws are on the friction hinges. Nothing in the door jamb like yours right at the point of door failure.

BTW, love our friction hinges. Travel to Texas and back heavy winds at many locations and the door did not bang once, usually would not move an inch!

Those hinges can only be installed one way , so installation was correct.  What you may see is the screen door hinge in my photo.

Until I do the door repair I’ll wait to report back a cause.  My guess I’d a broken outer frame .

I look forward to your report. My hopes are the friction hinge is not the cause.

I have had this mod on the back burner for awhile.

I need to get a first hand up close look to see how these work. Am I correct they control the movement of the door, so the door doesn't fly open when you open the door in the wind🙃

Yeah, I see now that your picture is with the door open screen closed and mine with the screen open with the door.

We have the hairline cracks like many, and were present before the friction hinges were added and have not changed. The door on ours is 9 years old now. You can see the cracks behind the screen in my photo.

If anything, friction hinges should help the door since it does not fly open and bang the hull in the wind like it used to. I installed ours in February, the day they arrived, a 15-minute install. The pair of friction hinges fill the gaps between the original hinges so that there is a hinge mount every 3-4" down the entire door frame. It adds reinforcement. Best $15 spent on our Oliver!

We traveled 7 weeks since then and all the work I did this summer I opened the door and closed the door so many times since. The friction hinges cannot be the issue. The damage on Craig's door shows the laminate pulling out of the frame for likely some other reason.

After a little bit more online research it appears that Lippert lack of quality strikes yet again. There are quite a few SOB RV’s that have had the same issue with the Lippert interior door laminate cracking. Planned obsolescence? 🤔😒
