I saw this on the Oliver FB page. It’s a nice looking storage box and appears well made. Pricey.

Pricey? -- NO, just totally ridiculous, unless you're "made of money!" It's like I'm going to spend $1250 to protect my $400 generator. Just mount it to the basket.

I love my open carrier that OTT mounted, throw my tools in there and other stuff when parking. When traveling, our fire ring sits there. Not wanting one myself, but I'd certainly save the $1000 for other upgrades and buy the simple and viable product @Mike and Carol suggested.

I am very happy with my current cargo box and puck lock security basket for my 3200i. It’s all we need. 😉 Roll with what works best for your budget.

Beautiful pics @Patriot! and just the original basket works for you! Our old hull will likely never see a garage or a cover anytime soon. Ours came with a nice cover, but I've been too busy working on it to cover it.

Being a welder with the skills and the equipment, I can't justify $1250 for a box.  I may wind up building one when I am bored.

After some thought of how little we used our 3200i generator in the cargo tray on our last 42 day trip out west, we decided to move forward with a custom all aluminum cargo/storage box from Sea Biscuit metal fabrication shop.

My wife and I took a 3 hr drive up to Johnson City, Tenn and visited the Sea Biscuit metal fabrication shop. We met David and Kristine Hess the owners. Some of the nicest folks you will ever meet, and they are campers as well.
After seeing the high quality of the Oliver storage boxes that David and his team craft we decided to purchase one. The fit and finish is excellent. We like supporting small companies and their products made right here in the USA 🇺🇸
We know we will get a lot more use from our cargo box each time we set up camp. It has lots of room for all things for initial set up. Our gen will be secured in the truck bed.

I custom ordered and installed the XPLOR metallic silver graphics from  https://lettering.com/ another excellent customer service experience.  Had a buddy of mine install XPEL PPF on the front and sides of the box as it sits in the road rash blast zone. For questions on custom boxes and pricing reach out to -https://seabiscuitmetaldesigns.com/product/oliver-box/

Chris Neuhaus, Stephen Cobb, and Marla King all have lockable boxes on the rear. Still need to remain under 150lbs.

JD, we do, too.  It’s made by Highway Products in White City, OR.  We try to keep the weight at 100 pounds or under.  Because of the width, there is a set of brake/turn signals on top.  The bars also accept Yakima round bar fittings.

Nice. With our 8' bed I rarely need extra space. The only time I get cramped for space is when we camp somewhere longer than 5-6 days and don't want to hook up and go to the dump. We load the turd wagon in the bed for the trip. Our turd wagon takes up more space than I like.

I am so happy we have a composting toilet.  A garbage bag and a dumpster is all it takes, but I prefer to wait until I am home to deposit under my lone apple tree.

A lesson learned.  As much as I like the storage box on our Ollie, it will never go back on the trailer.  We are planning on venturing into some rougher country later this year, so I thought I’d check the spare.  Long story, short… it took over two hours to get the box disconnected.   I had to remove the box from the aluminum frame, then take many many strokes with a dead blow hammer to get the frame out.  I can’t imagine doing that on the road.

The good news is the tire still had over 60 PSI.  The bad news is my back is sore.

Sorry to hear this and more so because I really like the design of your rear toolbox! I like how it has cabinet doors, opening to the rear, allowing the surface to be a tie-down area or spare work table. The boxes with hinged tops do not allow for such.

I think about this every time I read a related post. I don't need one with an 8 ft open truck bed, but if I did...

I would first remove the fiberglass cover and spare tire. Then mount the spare in the back left corner of the TV bed using a simple spare tire mount available on eTrailer and elsewhere. The cover would become a new garage ornament, a conversation piece! 🤣 This would delete a lot of rear weight which is the most important issue with adding weight to the rear. Ever LB in back lightens the trailer tongue weight and the Oliver with 8-9% tongue weight is already a towing safety issue. Very few Oliver owners seem to be concerned re this matter.

With the spare gone, a custom cargo box could be +/- 10" close to the hull. This also helps the weight issue (shorter lever arm). Maybe you can move the spare and still use your awesome toolbox. Later mount the box pulled up closer to center. If there's no room in the truck bed, the spare tire could be frame-mounted on the streetside of the doghouse using the same standard bracket. 😎

Good idea, if I ever need the extra storage, I may do exactly that!  Thanks for the suggestion?
