  1. Past hour
  2. Back when I used the Andersen WTH, I placed my cables below the whale tail. That was where Oliver put them when they setup my truck on pickup and it seemed the natural place to put them there.

  4. Mossemi: Thanks for the "heads up." Here is my quandry: The Oliver bumper hitch has a 1.25" receiver, but the only 1UP bike racks rated for RV/travel trailer use (like the SD (Super Duty) require a 2" receiver. Yet, I note threads indicating that some Oliver Elite II owners use 1UP racks with the Oliver bumper hitch. Can anyone on this forum provide a solution?
  5. When we took delivery of our #1403 Elite in mid June of 2023 there was another Elite inside the gates that had been rolled and it was like looking at an absolute disaster. It did not disintegrate as a stick built would have but it was bad. The entire trailer was wrapped up up in plastic. We were told that the guy had dropped his cell phone and was reaching to retrieve it.
  6. When I did my factory tour before buying my Oliver, they had an Elite II that had flipped and was being repaired. They told me the owners had towed it to Oliver for the repairs.
  7. Check out the hitch. Either the stock hitch broke during the accident or it was changed prior. Where is this located?
  8. Saw this 2025 E2 in a salvage yard. Hoping everyone is ok. Hard to imagine a SOB trailer surviving a roll-over as well is this Oliver did. The Solo Stove in the tongue basket did not fare so well.
  9. @Rivernerd FYI: I do not have any experience with the 1up QuikRack so I can’t comment on it’s usage, but the attached chart indicates that the QuikRack is not approved for use with an RV or Travel Trailer. Mossey
  10. Agreed, it seems to fit this way.
  11. Until now I have never heard of nor seen curly cable safety chains. Had to look it up to see WTH this was about. Our Ollie #70 came with traditional linked chains but after implementing the Andersen hitch they were too short. Went to the local farm and ranch supply store to purchase a longer set which ended up being considerably heavier duty and also heavier to boot. A mixed blessing I guess. Really appreciate @topgun2 explanation on why one should cross their cables which makes total sense, but never bothered to investigate the reason.
  12. XPLOR in The Great North Woods. Nothing like New England in the fall of the year. Landed several nights at Pemaquid Point Campground in New Harbor, Me. https://www.pemaquidpointcampground.com/ Large sites and most if not all are W/E only. The fall foliage is slowly beginning to turn and the night temps are perfect sleeping weather. We would highly recommend this family owned CG. We always try and enjoy a nice campfire every evening. Tomorrow its will be time to sample some of the local fresh seafood. 😋 Lobsta!! 🦞🦞 rolls! Happy Travels! Large sites! Perfect northern exposure for our SL mini deployed on the table.
  13. I've always placed my cables/chains below the whale tail. My reasoning is that since the cables/chains are there as a safety measure in the event that the trailer (in some manner) comes unattached from the tow vehicle, the cables/chains will be the "last resort" of attachment to that tow vehicle. Then, assuming that you have crossed the cables/chains the tongue should rest on those cables/chains as the trailer slows - this is particularly so assuming that the emergency brakes are applied on the trailer due to that ty switch becoming activated. Meanwhile, the whale tail would serve as a wide surface area that those cables/chains could "catch". Obviously, this crossing of the safety cables/chains has the effect of holding the hitch of the trailer off the ground so that the trailer hitch does not "dig" into the road thus possibly "flipping" the trailer. 15. Reviving a moderately old thread. Our 2017 Ollie also has the curly safety cables and I agree with @jd1923 in that, changing to chains is not liability I want to take on. A bonus with the cables is I am able to secure the cables inside my Paclock coupler lock. Chains wouldn't fit. I tow with the Andersen WDH. My question is should the cables be above or below the whale tail? I haven't found any info on this in the owner paperwork. Both kind of make sense to me. How do owners with WDH's and cables route the cables? Thanks, Tony
  16. I get that. On the other hand, I had to replace the lock anyway, so keeping in mind resale, I decided to upgrade to the keyless entry lock which many people like. When I sold my previous camper, the buyer told me that all the accessories that I had added was a key factor in their purchase. Plus the lighted keypad looks really cool! 😂
  17. John, I am interested but wont be able to pick up until this Winter when I am back in AZ. Please PM me the details along with measurements between the legs going back into the bumper brackets and the square tube o.d. I doubt they changed over the years but best to be safe).
  18. @Colin are the shirts cotton or a blend?
  19. If anybody would like to buy an OEM 2” receiver, at a reasonable cost, I have one removed from ours. Shipping would not be reasonable, so keep it in mind for anybody visiting AZ, going to Quartzsite this winter, etc.
  20. We wanted to make you aware of what appears to be a conflict regarding reservations for site 61. We made our reservation for the rally this morning (18 September) and were assigned to site #61. However, the Rally spreadsheet from 3 September shows a different Oliver in that site already. We called the park directly and they confirmed that the reservation for site 61 for 20-22 Oct is in our name. Not sure how you want to proceed?
  21. I have reviewed various forum posts addressing use of a 1UP bike rack with an Oliver Elite II rear hitch receiver. The threads I found discuss modifying the Oliver standard 1.25" receiver to accept a 1UP bike rack with a 2" shank, but I could find no threads addressing use of a 1UP Quik Rack (which comes compatible with a 1.25" receiver) in a standard Oliver 1.25" rear hitch receiver. Does anyone use a 1UP Quik Rack (which works for me because I only need to carry one bike) with the standard Oliver 1.25" rear hitch receiver? If so, what is your experience?
  22. Terry and Steve Pate would like to add ourselves to the event. Please add us to the spreadsheet. Data entry: hull 1431, (no name), site#61, P8SOliver2, El Paso, TX BBQ-yes, Potluck Maybe. Arriving on the 20th, not sure of the time. We called park reservations on 18 Sep, and we told there were still 1 site (#72) plus an ADA site Looking forward to meeting everyone
  23. Thanks! Boise is the closest metro area to our rural home in central Idaho, so we are among the beneficiaries of your thoughtful post. Great to know!
  24. @Dennis and Melissa Your 3rd picture looks like you are very close to the Prince of Wales hotel! Are you staying at the Waterton Townsite campground? Mossey
  25. @ScubaRx forgot to mention his trick about leaving a piece of string trimmer line in the rear port side corner for future wire pulls! Mossey
