Pulled our Oliver into the driveway yesterday, since we're leaving for SW Colorado tomorrow. Like Dewdev, I started our Dometic 3-way fridge on DC. It did not seem to work. On the Epoch and Victron apps you could see it was only pulling -4A total and our system pulls -2.5A with almost nothing ON! I think I had the Maxxfan on too, so the fridge switched on DC was not actually pulling any DC power from the batteries! Switched it to AC and the readings changed to -16A which is a good number showing the fridge is drawing amperage so should be running. Two hours later the freezer had cooled down to 26F, the fridge at 62F, ambient cabin temp was 79F. This was going nowhere fast! Later last night, I switched the cooling to LP and started the Beech Lane fan at 50%. I sat at the dinette for 5 minutes to hear the LP ignite. It took two tries because on the first try I had forgotten to first light a cooktop burner to bleed the LP lines. After the bleed, I could hear it go through the click pattern twice to ignite and then I could hear it burning, a soft smooth sound. This should be working now. Got up this morning to read the freezer at 8F and the fridge at 36F (Ruuvi sensors and app). We always keep the fridge cooling setting at #4 out of 5. So our fridge is hardly a 3-way anymore! I will try running on A/C (Victron inverter always ON) while we are towing. Maybe now that it's cool ii can sustain running on electric. Last trip we were at 7600 ft elevation north of Flagstaff and the fridge had issues staying lit overnight at altitude. This trip we will always be above 7K+ ft. After all I've done to our Oliver, I'd hate to think fridge upgrade now, but it looks like it's coming soon. At least we have the 45L CFX5 fridge in the truck if all else fails. We're packing light on food with good local markets on the route!

Hi all, First off, thanks to all of the Oliver forum members who post comments and Q&As. The info we’ve gained from periodically checking the forum activity was incredibly helpful in our decision to buy an Oliver, and in figuring out which model and options would work best for us. Although it took more than a year of research, we finally made the leap this past June! We will be picking up our 2027 Oliver Legacy Elite II (Twin Bed floorplan) on September 8th — Hull #1735. We were tent campers for about 40 years and spent the last 8 years camping throughout the Carolinas and Virginia in a 15-foot Taxa Cricket. We are really looking forward to the next chapter of traveling and exploring the country in our Ollie. If anyone is around Hohenwald during our pickup week, say hello! Chuck and Beth Lexington, NC

I hear ya, but unfortunately I’m corrupted by spending the last 32 years continually discussing what ‘good design’ is 😅 There’s many different types, ‘design for test, design for mfg, design for repair, design for usability … ‘ What you really mean is it has poor accessibility design. Agreed, or at least it’s not optimal. However it has excellent manufacturing, repair, and simplicity design. Also my post above points out it has excellent usability - once you get in the cabinets its easy to use, don’t need the documentation (diagram) most of the time. And it has the best aesthetic design. The layout is beautiful, and it doesn’t intrude into the cabin with ugly gubbins. So just back of the envelope, it wins in five categories and loses in one (accessibility). Hey, if you can get that kind of hit rate than yes it’s a good design! Design for repair, and design for repair documentation. You’re complaining about the latter. Basically nobody worries about that, it’s what repair manuals (or support lines) are for. I mean seriously, those fuses aren’t hard to find, I did it in my first trip when the composting fan went out. That fuse is in the same spot, I was glad it was so accessible. Turned out it just needed reseating. Anyhow I’ll stick up for Oliver here. One of the things I appreciate about this trailer is how well designed it is. Because they’re not changing the basic design every year! They have one body and frame - that’s been perfected within the form factor, and they just keep refining the interior components and layout. It’s always massive compromise and I love working on this thing, they’ve balanced it all so well after all these years. I absolutely love how neat and tidy it is, with automotive channel wrap on all the wires. Work of art … Ah sorry, been too long at the farm 😅

Ollie spotted traveling north on California 101 / Arcata, Ca 12 noon Sept 1st. Black graphics. Not many Ollies' located on the west coast but three known Ollie's are located Arcata/Eureka area.

We get 100s of hummingbirds in Prescott, with the peak season during August. It just cooled off and the hot summer temps are gone 'til next season, thank goodness. They all know Chris as the bird lady. She puts out seed, water in the bird bath and gallons of sugar water in 4 feeders. She even had a couple hummers drink from a hand feeder! The hummers will start to migrate south in the next few days/weeks. We do have some winter hummers, but only a few. We spend an hour or so on the deck each evening. Soon we'll be wearing winter clothes and have the fire ring going! 😆 Hummers in Prescott v2.MOV

"Well thought out?" Any need to move beds and bedding is not a good design. @ScubaRx was first to install motorized ball valves! I believe Steve has his switches outside somewhere. I installed them right under the bed, so Chris throws the switches after I run the hose (the third switch/valve is used to drain the fresh tank). Our 12" mattresses are quite heavy and Chris is particular about the sheets/bedding. I don't touch the beds when made, only when home for mods when the sheets are in the laundry! Notice the underbed duct delete too and the addition of a return duct air filter! 😎 @Dennis and Melissa recently blew the fuse for their front jack. Seeing the (extra) fuse at the front jack, he didn't think about three fuses under the streetside bed. Who would? Honestly, only some book-smart engineer in China, that never in his life traveled in an RV, could find a more illogical place for these fuses! We have yet to have to move our beds while camping. See my mod post below. It's worth the work, at least it has been for us! 😎 Some hand carry water jugs. But we always have an extra 35 gallons in the truck bed and we fill via the "boondocking" valve configuration about every other week when camping. I thought I was the only one who added this extra FWT, but recently @FloraFauna wrote, "wish I had opted for 40 or 45 gallons." I bring 25' and 10' hoses and together 35 ft will get from the truck bed to the Oliver rear while hitched. I could not see hand-carrying water (or moving the bed), for something we use so often when boondocking. As soon as one of us hears the water pump gurgle, start to take air, we'll pump in about 20 gallons, saving the remainder for a couple days later. Double your fresh water supply, will allow you to double your stay! 😍

Hi DanielBoondock, Blake works by himself and is the owner of Triple B Detailing. He works one project at a time so he’s 100% committed to the task at hand. I dealt with only him, start to finish and he was wonderful! We dropped our Ollie off on a Monday and picked it up on Wednesday. The wash, prep, and application was a full 10 hour day. We had everything except the awning coated, including the solar panels. He used Stark yacht products. It’s not really a double coat but is a double step process of base coat/prep, then topcoat. I highly recommend him! If you want more in depth information or have any other questions, reach out to Blake! He is passionate about his craft and I found him more than willing to help us by text/phone/email.

I was corrected by my wife... the order of bedding components, starting from the "bottom", is as follows: (1) 1" pink foam insulation board, (2) Hypervent layer, (3) OEM Cushions, (4) 2" memory foam, (5) Wool topper, (6) Super Cool Comfort Mattress Pad, (7) Full-size fitted bottom sheet. The 2" memory foam was a hand-me-down from another family member. It is just a piece of uncovered, unlabeled, unbranded memory foam. We had to cut the two rear corners with a large pair of shears to match the curve at the back end of the Elite. We did not modify the sheepswool pad or the mattress pad; they just fit a bit sloppy on the slightly-less-than-full-sized "RV Full" bed. Clearly what is "comfortable" varies from person to person. This has been working for us; hope you can arrive at a bedding configuration that works for you.

Take a look at Veritas Vans Starlink mounts, I have the magnetic mount version with bolt-on handle for the Mini and very pleased.

Yeah pain to get to the valves for sure. In the ‘26 layout its well thought out at least. I think they designed it to easily switch between regular use (either city or pump) and boondocking mode (pull water from jugs into the tank). The two modes are reversals of the other, just switch all the valves to the other setting, don’t need the graphic. Winterizing/sanitizing are the oddballs but that doesn’t happen a lot They could do a Nautilus panel but it would involve a lot of extra plumbing which is more places for problems. I think it’s a fine solution, the bed is light.

I’ve got dual awnings and am happy with the built in gutter system. This 8.5’ ladder is small and easy to work with, and is the perfect height for the Oliver. No problem to keep the gutters relatively clean, only bother is getting a pressure washer up there occasionally for the dirt. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJF4PXM2 But the gutters do mean I get brown trails at the four edges. It took a bit of work to buff those out before clear coating, and I hope the oxide will make it a non issue now. Regardless I’ve been thinking if there was a way to have a kind of downspout on the edges. Maybe there’s a 3D part that could be put there while it’s stored. Probably over thinking it

I'm also considering placing the Starlink mini on the cap of the truck, that way it's always available for the truck or camper use. But put it on a removable mount to find clear sky if under light tree-cover.
