  2. And here I always thought that the purpose of the accmulator was to even out the pressure in the water line. and had little to do with the amount of water stored in that little tank. If what I thought is true then that helps explain why you didn't see any marked improvement when you added the second tank. Bill
  3. Well stated, John. I've been wondering two things. Would we have bought our Oliver under these circumstances? The next time someone approaches us to ask about the Oliver can we, in good faith, recommend the purchase of one with the new service/sales arrangement and at today's prices?
  4. The name of the anti-rattle device is: Hitch-Vice The name of the company that makes it is: Hitchrider.com After a couple of years of use, the bolts showed that they were bending. So, I replaced them with grade 8 bolts and also added a couple of nyloc nuts to help keep things tight. Bill

  6. Art, I do the same… but they always loosen.
  7. Most receivers I’ve seen are mounted on top, seems the bottom-mount (shown in the first pic) would impede opening of the rear compartment. The hitch and backing plate look very solid; the chain holes may prove useful, but a locking hitch pin will serve the same purpose. Nice mod!
  8. I scanned this post, but didn’t see a stated axle size for your LEll; D35s or D52s?

  10. Our Oliver came with the Shurflo 24 Oz accumulator that provides a reserve of water so that the pump won’t cycle on when only a small amount of water is needed. But it never seemed to be quite enough water and the pump would cycle anyway. It stands to reason that adding a 2nd accumulator would provide twice as much water (48 Oz) before the pump cycled on. . . right? Being a sucker for projects, I added a 2nd accumulator and there didn’t seem to be any improvement. In fact, I was surprised to find that there was only 12 Oz of water in reserve between pump cycles. That was strange, so I removed the second accumulator and tested the original accumulator by itself. It was only getting 8 Oz of water between pump cycles. What the heck? Shouldn’t it be closer to 24 Oz as the accumulators rating implies? I verified both accumulators had a 30 PSI pre-charge as recommended, and my system seems to have good pressure. I’ve ordered a water pressure gauge, but I’ve no clue what the accumulator PSI should be in relationship to water pressure. I’m hoping that the greater wisdom of this forum can provide some insight on this. Cheers, Geoff
  11. Ditto on my life. Last year we lost a paraglider pilot out in the desert. He did not have a Satellite Tracker. He died out there, over 100 miles off of the expected route. There were way over 200 S&R folks involved. That said, we do not need to be very far from people to not be easily found. In his case, his injuries were severe, but had we known where to look he certainly would have survived. Expensive? Not in the least. So especially if you are a pilot, travel alone, hike in mountains, or mountain bike (Just to name a few ways) remember you can cover some ground. If you get hurt the S&R folks will not have a good chance of finding you in time. GJ
  12. Ralph, I'm beginning to wish we had followed suit with the lithiums :) At least our A/C is now tolerable via Truma! Oliver did a good job with that. John
  13. I'll start off with... Oliver sold us a trailer that we couldn't be more proud of owning. It's been a little embarrassing for us to reveal to others what we paid back in 2022 (not even fully decked out... just couldn't pull the trigger on the lithium prices). We would most likely not be in an Oliver at todays prices. It's unfortunate the individual dealers didn't offer up a service rep to go train at Oliver instead of breaking up the Oliver team to go train them. IMO, at the price of an Oliver, a tarnished service experience at one of the new dealers, that Oliver has no way of controlling, is going to have an extremely negative impact on any future buyers. In my case, the service team at Oliver was the deciding factor that pushed us over the finish line with our purchase. No possible way for us to go forward if not for that. I'm hoping for the best but I was really counting on Oliver for service the next several years...I don't care how far away they are. Their service is unparalleled as far as I'm concerned and I'm almost certain that another company with other interests will not measure up. It's a reassurance that Jason can still answer questions and help over the phone but I'm going to have to rely on a business that didn't sell us our trailer, to do the work I can't do. It was indeed a big surprise, for me, to learn of the recent news that Oliver was going to be available at several dealers across the country. I initially took a somewhat negative view but moderated after thinking it might help the sales that Oliver was seeking and you don't have to travel thousands of miles as a perspective buyer. But to hear of the end of Oliver's service team is a tough pill, so to speak. My position is from an annual maintenance perspective with the option of other work, ie Truma A/C swap out (which was done), possible axle change in the future, install additional awning, etc. I'm not worried...just disappointed. Here ends my rant. John
  14. We've been using a loctite marine product, with good results, for a number of years.
  15. I want to remove ALL the old messy silicone caulk OTT had applied at the factory and prior owners adding to it. I just spent 15 minutes searching for their 0240 product. I found a company to buy a case. Anybody know where to buy 1-2 cans?
  16. With all new changes, and methods, there is definitely a risk. My experience with the Oliver family is that those risks are weighed carefully, and thoroughly. I was not excited, initially, about the new dealer plan, but I see it as a way forward for growth, and extended service, throughout the US, for them, and all of us.
  17. Sounds great, but we realized that we could run out of time. Started south to Orange Beach, then a night in Crosby Texas, tonight and tomorrow night we are in South Llano River State park. Need to be in Ft Collin’s CO on the 4th. I backed into the site in good fashion for the first time!
  18. Just part of the "pre-departure" checklist - we always tighten the Rock Tamer bolts before departing the area... Just say'n
  19. @MAX Burner you're the man Art! I want a new set of springs now! 😂
  20. Oliver cental is going to be open for pickup, from my understanding. I worked in a dealership network, in a different industry. To gain extended support (service in wide flung locations), some things must change. Heart doesn't. As #12, our factory pickup was actually within the factory. We had no factory service department til years later. But, we always had support. I'm counting on that.
  21. I hope this statement holds true going forward. The Oliver family would be wise to hold on to Jason with both hands to keep him at headquarters doing what he does best. Turning trailer problems into great outcomes with a professional smile/demeanor. So I have to ask… are future buyers going to lose the amazing benefit of having a factory pickup where all the bugs can be fixed by the service department before the trailer leaves the property?
  22. The Cavender family owns a number of dealerships in the area. I take my Audi to a Cavender Audi dealership and have had excellent service since we started with them in the late 1990’s. Mike
  23. That remains to be seen. My faith is shaken but I'm hoping they can still be better then the others. They need to be.
