We had a great time these past few days at the rally. Big thanks to Coy for all his planning and hard work to make this a well executed event. Also thanks to Foy and Matt for their work. These rallys wouldn’t be the same without the support of the company, so thanks to Scott Oliver for providing company resources and for being an active attendee. Carol and I thought the location and facilities were outstanding. It was great seeing old friends and meeting a bunch of new friends. We’re looking forward to next year already. Mike3 points

Thanks to Coy and Foy and Matt and Scott for making this a very successful event! It was amazing to see experienced owners sharing their considerable expertise, and especially seeing the new owners excitedly taking it all in. I enjoyed talking will all of the Oliver staff, and it was clear that they were listening to our comments, complaints, and suggestions. These are smart business people, and I expect they will listen to our ideas. The sessions they had were great, but I am posting here to give a suggestion for topics at future rallies. The April Oliver Newsletter had a great article by Jason Essary on Oliver Maintenance. It appeared to me that most of the rally attendees are new owners, and they, like me, may lack the technical expertise needed for all of these maintenance issues. I suggest a how-to session from the Oliver Service staff on some of these maintenance questions.3 points

Well, the ice is finally out on Moosehead Lake here in Maine. That must mean that it is time to wake the Oliver from her winter nap. The first order of business will be to sanitize the water system. We will get unscented Clorox 5 or 6% sodium hypocloride. We will make sure we get it from a busy yet smaller grocery outlet. Some of that which we have gotten from a big blue outlet in the past had spent too much time in a distribution warehouse; and had seemed to have lost some scent and maybe potency. We use a ratio of 1/4 cup to 15 gallons of water. Seeing the Oliver has 30 usable gallons we will use 1/2 cup of Clorox. The first step is to check that we had closed the valve that drains the fresh tank. Also we make sure the waterheater is still in bypass mode. We then add the bleach to a gallon container. Lower the short outside hose (the same one we use to pump in the antifreeze) into the container and pump it into the tank. Just to be sure we fill the container again to sort of rinse it out and get all the bleach. We then fill the tank. Next we go to the kitchen sink and run the cold water, until we smell the clorine and shut it off. This should also flush any remaining antifreeze. Next to the bath faucet, toilet, and outside faucet. This we leave in the lines 3 to 4 hours minimum and up to 24 hours. Drain the tank. Refill it with fresh clean water. Run the faucets again in the sequence until you can no longer smell the clorine. That should take care of the system for 6 months or more, unless you fill the tank from a slow moving city stream.2 points

Ursula and I can hardly add to the great compliments and comments above. Our first Oliver Owners Rally was everything we expected and more. Coy, you are the bomb! Your support team (all mentioned above) was phenomenal as well. Our thanks and gratitude to you and all the great people we met who made our memories so good! Cheers to Rally 2019!2 points

I did it just like that for years until a fellow traveller told me of a simpler method. Now, I simply pour the clorox directly into the water hose prior to hooking it up to the water bib at home. I find this to be easier and it cleans some bugs out of the water hose at the same time.2 points

For those that have never ziplined - here are a couple of pictures that perhaps more realistically show what is happening! Seriously - this was a great group (even when wet to the bone). Thanks for making it soooo much fun. For those that participated - PM me your email address if you would like to receive more photos. thanks! Bill2 points

I'd also like to add to the list of THANKS! Thanks should be also extended to all that attended - certainly this includes the vendors but most of all it includes the owners and other participants who willingly shared knowledge with anyone who asked. What an absolute delight to spend several days with others that are so willing to share and be genuinely concerned with virtually any and all camping issues someone else was having. Looking forward to next year! Bill2 points

I very much agree with Mike and Carol, it was a grand rally in a great location. Thank you to Oliver TT, Scott, Coy, Matt and Foy for all the work and efforts to put it together. Gerri and I can't wait until the rally next year.2 points

Chris & Duke - Put the Tolley's on with a small (artist's) brush. This will cure virtually the streaking problem. Take your time applying it, but, the entire job should only take about 15 minutes. I agree that this should not happen and I've noticed that similar gaskets on my car and motorcycle don't do this, but this is an easy fix. Bill1 point

Like MikeandGerri I too ordered the cushions from Oliver - but only for the street side. These cushions plus a couple of throw pillows (mainly for the small of the back) can handle virtually any sitting position. A few years ago a former Oliver owner bought one of those "TV watching" type pillows from Amazon and thought that it was great, but, I've never tried one. Whenever the street side is used as a bed we simply do as you suggest and place the back cushions in the dinette area. As with most foam cushions/mattresses they can be a bit on the warm side when used for sleeping. Normally when we use the street side for sleeping we will place a fitted sheet over the cushion and then we simply use a sleeping bag on top of that. Since either my wife or fishing buddy sleep on that side, I have little direct experience except to say that neither has complained. Yes, the Oliver back cushions extend around the side and back of the Oliver and end right up against the nightstand. Finally, I would wait on purchasing the ottoman/footrest. If you have the back cushions, your legs (unless you a very short) can rest comfortably on the other side. Congrates on the purchase! With the addition of the a/c and the solar you will have one wonderful camper. Bill1 point

We left the rally this morning and had a short drive east into South Carolina. We’re at Twin Lakes COE near Pendleton, SC. Our site is on the lake and we can’t see any other campers near us, just a few across the lake. Water and Electric for $12 a day. The only sound is water against the shore and some birds.1 point
