My next truck will probably be a Ram 2500 with Ram Boxes. I will wait until the split tailgate is available, probably the 2020 model. That should make it easier to reach into the bed without stretching over the tailgate. Mike

As to slides, I'm not a fan. Especially bedroom slides. Drafts, dust, and then when the weather warms up in the Alaska prolonged summer nights... mosquitos follow your breath in, and can make the nights miserable.. Sherry

Newshoes, you're (I think,) in the eastern US, where grey water discharge to the forest or anywhere but a dump station is typically discouraged, or prohibited, and/ or subject to big fines. Out in the arid part of the west, rules are sometimes different. Sherry

Thanks for all the information. As it turned out, I hadn't given the thermostat box itself enough time to cool down. I set the thermostat to 90 (heat) and the ambient temp of the trailer was 82 but when I shot the temp of the thermostat control itself it was over 90, it is not blown on directly by AC. Probably warm air inside the pantry too didn't help.

We looked at the Lance too. We were very interested and they were in the running, but we saw the Oliver the very next month and once we saw the factory tour and joined the forum, we were sold. We put our order in before we left TN. We attended the rally in Alabama this year even though we had just put our first deposit down and we are even more convinced after visiting with folks and hearing their experiences, good and bad, and realizing the strength of the Oliver Family. We can't wait to pick up our unit in September.

Notice the load capacity. With a full fresh 39 gallon tank (324 lbs) and no options, you have just 679 pounds left for optional equipment and your personal stuff. Do they think people are stupid enough to buy these? I guess so, and the trailers will all be well over gross weight. I’ve recently posted about my vehicle with the Decked system. I am very happy with it. A lot of storage, plenty of deck room. It isn’t dust free. Nor is the inside of your cab, or the inside of your home. A little maintenance is all it takes. It’s all personal preference. What ever works best for you.

I suggest we stop the combative posts right here. This isn’t that sort of forum. To answer your first question, I doubt there are enough Olivers on the road or for long enough for insurance companies to have evaluated their relative risk and be able to offer discounts. And I doubt that the market is valuable or competitive enough for them to do so anyway. Frankly, I wouldn’t look at insurance rates to tell you how roadworthy one trailer is relative to another. Likewise, you will have to accept logic and anecdotal evidence for the stability and strength of Olivers. If you need statistics to make your decision, then you’re going to be out of luck since none exist. As posted earlier, we do have evidence of one Oliver that slid into a bridge railing in the snow, which did flip and I understand was able to be repaired. We also have stories of a bear unsuccessfully trying to get in an Ollie, though I have to question how motivated of a bear it was, lol. Plus I think it was trying the wrong door if I remember the story. As for stability, all I know is that I’ve had zero issues and have heard nothing but the same from other owners. I’ve never read nor heard of anyone encountering sway with an Oliver, regardless of what tow vehicle they use. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but it’s good enough evidence of their stability for me.
