  1. Not much going on at the rally today so I thought I’d unplug the trailer and do a little experiment running the AC just to see how long the batteries would last. We don’t travel much in AC weather so this is really the first time I’ve had a good chance to test the limits of our system. I started at 10am with 100% charge. AC set at 72 and we’re in full sun with no clouds. 640 watts of solar and 400 amp hours of battery storage. I’ll plug back in when the batteries hit 20%. Any guesses as to when that will be?

  2. I prefer chains because they are much more easily adjusted for length, and a bunch of other reasons as well. Safety chain length is a very important part of the system and is often overlooked. The chains, or cables, need to be as short as possible without binding up in a jackknife position. I'm in the process of doing this to my Ollie as I think the supplied chains are too long. Back up your trailer in a tight turn as close as you can without TV/trailer contact. Stop there and measure the distance between the two mounting points, chains crossed. I will do this with the actual chain and connecting hardware I'm using. Leave just a little slack, maybe one link. I'm hoping that when I drop (lower gently that is) the trailer off the ball mount, the attached chains will prevent the trailer coupler, and the mounting hardware for the chains on the trailer frame, from ground contact. We'll see, there is only so much one can do if the design is off. This chain/cable length will be different for each TV/trailer setup. So supplying one length that "fits all" is not doing anyone any favors and could be hazardous in an emergency. If you have an articulating hitch, that could be very different, but I have no experience with those. Just my 2 cents. Dave

  4. Landrover, Bearing Buddies are not the same as EZ Lube. Bearing buddies add grease out near the hub cap area, in a spring loaded chamber that has a zerk on it, to raise the pressure in the hub. This is so water will not intrude during immersion with boat trailers. It is not for lubing the bearings, just to raise the hub pressure and keep water out. EZLube is a special spindle with drilled passages that adds grease between the rear bearing and the rear seal. This forces old grease out of the rear bearing and out through the outer bearing, lubing both bearings in the process. This is done with the dust cap removed. Then excess grease is wiped off and the cap replaced. It's debatable whether EZ Lube is a good idea or not.

  9. Thanks, followed your recommendation & it worked! Now that black water valve opens & closes very easily. Bought 1 can of the WD 40 silicone lube, pulled the wire out, sprayed as much as I could get in the sheath & then coated the wire as I put back in. Pulled it out again & put back in again while coating it with the silicone lube. Worked like a champ.
