  1. I watched Will’s latest video this morning. The news keeps getting more disappointing. I’m looking at replacements now, the BB’s have been fine so far but don’t want to wait for a failure before taking action.

  2. There are a good number of folks on these forums who love to share what they know, have discovered, and how they modified or fixed their rigs. This is awesome for new Oliver owners. They get to read the words and see detailed annotated pictures from the authors, dear I call them "Content Creators". As I approach retirement in December, there is at least one peace of software I now own personally that I have discovered from the work-place. I have created and edited hundreds of desktop video recordings for software demos and instructional videos in recent years. I use Camtasia from TechSmith for easy video editing, but another small piece of software they make, and is very inexpensive, is their SnagIt software. I will capture and edit pictures (and videos) from my desktop, browsers, or personal photos. This is what I use to very quickly annotate most of my uploaded pictures here in the forums. I'm hoping never touch MS Windows as long as I live, but SnagIt does work on both Windows and MacOS. I now mostly use MacOS as a "daily driver" OS, even though I'm a Linux lover at heart. Here's a screenshot of what SnagIt looks like. You can tell I've been doing all sorts of captures today, from my own future logo, to Olivers, and portfolio stuff. I thought this might be helpful to those who love to share their Oliver project pictures on their rigs. I won't link it here, just Google "SnagIt" - it's from TechSmith. I hope this helps others. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Cheers,

  3. And yet more potential bad news for BB. They better get a handle on this or they may have some rough times ahead - true or not. Will's latest YT video "Battleborn 270Ah Failure! Yikes!" has been up for 1 day and viewed more than 87,000 times. 🤦‍♂️ Looking from the outside in, it appears BB may indeed have an engineering issue on their hands. I think Will was a bit shocked at how the 270Ah was constructed. Not sure why BB chose to completely seal the batteries without screws. Maybe to save money and/or safety. Who knows. This situation, if true, is cyclical - not the first time, and not the last time, as long as we roam the Earth we'll see this stuff. Experience should have taught us that we seldom get a "good deal" for less money spent. I think that's now a law, isn't it? If so, I can't stand that law. 🤣 The best thing to take away from all this social media is, at least, awareness. As I recently discovered my girlfriends very dry lead acid battery about to explode from heat, this is a bit close to home for me. I nearly burned my hand on the battery plastic housing, it was that bad. It's always a good idea to carry a digital thermometer or even a thermal imager for your phone. I was going to be adding a thermal imager to my gear soon, even before these vids started showing up. I might drag my butt out to Texas for five weeks of RV tech training after retirement. We'll see if I have the continued inspiration.

  4. I've enjoyed working on this a bit more. Not sure how truly useful it is, but nice to have on my desktop to just pop open and search. This is what I've changed today: 1. Changed the color theme to match that of OTT. 2. Added check boxes to only search popular forums, such as "General Discussion". 3. Added a link at the bottom to always get a reminder of the forum Guidelines. 4. Page image(s) now come straight from OTT image library and cycles randomly with a page refresh. - There are only three images in the mix for now, so randomness is weak. Zip file attached containing only the single HTML file - nothing fancy. oliver-forum-search.zip

  5. Heck - I'm not as smart as Google but even I can easily answer THAT question 😇

  6. @Ollie-Haus one quick way to do this is to simply go to google and in the search field type this: Site:https://www.fordtremor.com/ "Your search term" Like this: Site:https://www.fordtremor.com/ "Why Wayfinder needs a Tremor to replace his RAM 1500."

  8. @jd1923 this is likely not the issue, but maybe indeed do a good inspection of that intake vent hole that's facing the ground. Maybe with a cell phone pic or a mirror. Maybe some packaging got stuck in there or something. I would have NEVER heard that sound with all my Tinnitus.

  9. FYI - I wrote Marshall Excelsior today to ask them whether going to the MEGR-253H (H for high output) was the right decision. I've got to say their customer service is RESPONSIVE from a webform request! I've had companies, related to Oliver, Eley Hose Reels company for example, that never answered a webform query or direct email on a 2nd try at all, no reply (and I paced 2 orders totaling $250)! Marshall Excelsior replied within the hour, forwarding my question to the Product Manager. Then an hour later he replied. My question was this: Trying to decide between your MEGR-253 and the MEGR-253H. We have a travel trailer, use a fire-ring always, dual burner Napoleon grill, and inside the furnace, HWH, and fridge. Our trailer came with the MEGR-253 which is now 10 years old. I want to renew and keep the old, still working as a back-up. The MEGR-253 has been fine. The MEGR-253H is the same cost. Is there an issue with more BTU capability? Stick with the MEGR-253 or upgrade to the MEGR-253H? Thanks, JD His reply was this: Hi JD, The MEGR-253H will work just fine. There are no issues with more BTU/H capacity. Just means you can run more appliances at the same time. Cold weather can affect capacity for generating vapor in the tank. Thank You, Wes My experience with corporate CS is that if I ask on a Friday, a Monday reply would be more-so expected. Maybe the Fairview regulator I got was a knock-off, but if not then this Fairview regulator failed in <30 days (sure looks real). I've heard others complain of regulators failing quickly. I'm not absolutely certain our Marshall Excelsior MEGR-253 was OEM installed, but it sure looks 10 years of age! Up to 10 years without failure, and the outstanding CS of Marshall Excelsior, I'm preferring this product over the equivalent Fairview model! 😎 https://www.marshallexcelsior.com/products/pressure_regulators_and_accessories/two_stage_automatic_changeover/megr_253_series.html

  10. This too shall pass Bill! Our previous snow melted quickly with no frost in the ground here. A light dusting which was actually forecast late in the day yesterday. 🥶 Those trees on the right side of the Ollie Hangar act as a sun and wind break. I planted them when there were only 2’ high. They grow fast and are disease and drought tolerant. Carolina Sapphires!

  11. Certainly I'm well aware that there are those who are experiencing much worse weather than I am. However, once again this morning an "un-forecast" thing happened - welcome to the sunny South!

  13. @Boudicca908 They ARE eating the iguanas! I knew they were an invasive species, but had no idea iguanas were a “menu item” in Florida.😲😂

  14. It can happen more often in colder weather. Try turning off gas, unscrew side you were using to release gas and reattach and turN back on. See if sound goes away. If not consider another regulator. ai answer: Common "Normal" Causes Diaphragm Vibration: The most common cause is the rubber diaphragm inside the regulator vibrating as it moves to maintain steady gas pressure. This is generally harmless if there is no gas odor. Environmental Factors: Outside temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure can cause internal components to resonate or vibrate more than usual. High Gas Flow: If you are running multiple burners or a high-output appliance, the increased volume of gas rushing through the small internal orifice can create a high-pitched noise. Low Tank Level: In some cases, a tank that is nearly empty can cause the regulator to hum as it struggles to maintain pressure. When to Take Action If You Smell Gas: A high-pitched "hissing" accompanied by a rotten egg smell indicates a gas leak. Shut off the tank valve immediately and evacuate the area. Poor Performance: If the noise is paired with weak, yellow, or flickering flames, the regulator may be failing and need replacement. Overfilled Tank: If the sound started immediately after a refill and is accompanied by a gurgling noise, the tank may be overfilled, putting excess strain on the regulator.

  15. Putting plastic between the conductors does it for me. That's not a safety feature, it's a bad design.

  16. After seeing this, me too! Why are the leads bolted together? Why were they all loose? Can’t tell unless you invalidate warranty by sawing the case open!

  17. Got an update from Jason Essary today on the installation instructions from Fairview on their automatic regulator. According to Fairview, the instruction sheet that was included in the regulator that I received was an obsolete version and that the high mounting position was no longer applicable. Fairview confirmed with photos from the Oliver factory that their method of installation was acceptable. Just wanted to pass this along so folks didn’t get unduly concerned with their regulator installation from the factory.

  18. I bet every owner has had this happen, one time, and then you learn and it probably won’t reoccur... For me it was in the middle of the night in my socks, I discovered the isolation “travel” valve was still closed when I ran water in the bath sink and it backed up out of the floor drain and soaked my feet. Many bad words!!! Get a black Sharpie and write “Push in for travel” right beside the handle. John Davies Spokane WA

  19. My new regulator makes a whistle or high-pitch tone at times. Like tonight, while we have the fire ring burning. If I close the tank it stops and when I reopen the tank the sound changes or it may go away for a while which just happened. I do not remember any sound coming from the older original regulator. I have very good ears and many people may not hear it. Is a high-pitch sound coming from the LP regulator normal?
