  1. For those of us "old school" folks with the FanTasic fans, including humidistat that closes the hood, here's a hint if your fan quits working, but a multi meter shows power to the switches. I checked the fuse in the overhead. It was fine. Power to all the switchrs we could see. There's an additional plunger switch above the fan, easily accessed topside, but we reached it from the inside, between the fan blades, after removing the screen and lowering the bezel. It's a safety switch to shut down the fan when the humidistat closes the lid. A quick spray of wd40, and working the frozen plunger a few times, had us back in business in 5 minutes. Thought we might have to replace our 12 year old vent fan, but its working fine, now. Sherry

  2. I am attaching pictures of the final install for the portable solar panel connection. I used the Blue Solar 75/15 with the Bluetooth Dongle which I mounted on a new piece of plywood attached to an existing backer board. I added an inline switch to turn off the Solar Controller when we are not using the panel just to save battery. I used crimped connectors with heat shrink shields. I also made a custom sealed port to run the wires into the battery compartment. The port was sealed together with 5 minute epoxy The pictures make it pretty self explanatory. As I said before the only thing I would avoid in my install is where I positioned the outside Furion port. It was just really hard to get it through bolted.

  3. We also have a portable, from a prior rig, an ARB ac/dc, that we use for liquids and fruits/vegies (in the upper chamber). It does an excellent job, and is extremely efficient. This really frees up room in the Dometic fridge. Now we have used the Ollie a good deal this year, about 12 weeks worth, and I have rarely been pleased with the Dometic, mainly in hot weather. I maintain a temp sensor to monitor temps, and in 90 degree + weather it struggles if you open the door any at all. It also takes 24 36 hours to get to temp from start up - esp. if you load it with room temp stuff. The ARB is much better - the Danfoss compressors just kick butt. AND - the Dometic is sketchy on propane - it has shut itself off 5-6 times, I do a visual check every time I look at the thing, and glance at the temp monitor. Never did it while on voltage. If it ever gets regularly repetitive - I'll be copying Ken's install.

  4. As I get closer to owning an Ollie I’m envisioning how I will use the trailer. I currently own a Norcold Portable Refrigerator having a DanFoss Compressor 12V or 110V adapter. DanFoss compressors are superb in their performance and low power consumption (aH). Having multiple fuel options LP, 12V, and 110V covers all bases when boon-docking especially in high altitude areas and in colder seasonal temps.

  5. I just bought and partially installed the WeBoost Drive XRV. I installed the booster in the attic and used the cigarette lighter port for DC power (that plug was an extra item not included. I ran the wire for the internal antenna through the back of the cabinets on the kitchen side and actually placed the antennae inside the area where the switches are located. I have not gotten the courage up to drill the hole in the top and mount the antennae. For now we will use a 1/4 inch pvc pipe as an antenae pole and run the wire out a window. I will upload a picture of the antennae install after I get up the nerve to cut the hole. Lol. BTW: The signal does not seem to be interrupted at all by having the inside antennae in that port area and the signal is definitely better when this thing is running. We will be NH this weekend where I know the cell service is spotty. I will report back in how it works there.

  6. Wow! That’s a little unsettling, that means the sail switch that detects air flow/fan turning is maybe stuck in the “made” or air is flowing position. That one little switch is supposed to prevent the burner from igniting if there is no fan to cool the fire box or to provide combustion air flow. (two different fans/one motor on the Suburban furnace) The burner will ignite if there is no combustion air flow but will not ignite if there is no air circulation flow to cool the fire box as the switch only detects the latter. I wouldn’t use the furnace until you can figure it all out. No air flow is a dangerous situation.

  7. We did the same thing in late August. We looked at the 23ft Globe Trotter and international Serrenity. Originally we were going to buy an Airstream. That was the plan, either 23 or 25ft model. We then saw an Ollie. We were concerned about the quality of the Airstream. We viewed new units at a dealer. There were broken cabinets and tables and poor fit and finish. We thought about it as we liked the addtional interior volume and floor plans of the Airstream. The recent blogs on quality issus were also key factors in our decision. The Oliver quality won us over. We ordered one of the last inventory 2019 twins. We pick up our new Ollie, hull 537 "Beacon" on October 22. We have a lot to learn but are very excited. We will bring Beacon back to our home in Coastal Maine. We may do one short local camping trip then winterize Beacon and place her in our Barn for the first part of the winter. We plan to outfit Beacon and then leave Maine for southern climates sometime in Feburary. I am a Maine native and still enjoy "some" winter. We plan on ending our southern travels at the rally in May. We like being in Maine in the summer as we are close to an ocean beach with a view. We also enjoy ocean boating. We will be usung our Ollie primarilly for fall and winter escapes south and west. See you all out there.

  8. An incremental update. I finished the upper and lower grills so I’d call the installation complete. The fridge has been running continuously on either DC or AC since I received it coming up on a month now. We have been on a long weekend camping/test trip and we’re pleased with it’s performance. It maintains upper teens to low 20’s in the freezer and low to mid 30’s in the fridge regardless of the outside temperature. The compressor seems to run for about 5 minutes and then is off for about 5 minutes if it’s hot (95 or so) outside and is off a bit longer if it’s cool (mid to upper 60’s) outside. So far the 320 watts solar and four T105 batteries have been able to keep up. Testing will continue on upcoming trips.

  9. Finally finished the build of the home base "Oliver Elite II" docking station. As a one person construction crew, it took me a-while, I started back in August, with just a simple 12 x 25 cover, and decided midstream - to add the enclosed portions, with a full bathroom, and a utility room for honey and produce processing, and whatever else needs doing. There are also two locations, fore and aft, for dumping the waste water. I'll run power and water to the structure later - once the temps return to a comfortable level, Jeesh 97 degrees in October - what?? Here are a few pcs,

  10. Bill, it wasn’t the fan running or trying to run. It wasn’t a hum either, more like contacts chattering. I will try to post a video. I can’t post a video. It is too long and I don’t know how to edit it. If someone wants to hear the sound let me know and I will email it to you.
