  1. Ok, how do you know what axle you have?
  2. Activity wall seems to go to the first page, but no further..
  3. We learn something new every day. Usually can't find the story a second time. Have to take notes...
  4. Great trip report. We may have to follow your footsteps next time that way. Sorry about the anatomy pun. We have 'strolled' the Tavern on a couple of occasions, and think that might be the only place where we had heard about any 'self-inflicted'. Happy Trails to you- was that Roy Rogers or Gene Autry??
  5. With a deposit, I believe, they (Oliver) create a work order. On that work order is a scheduled start date. A few days before that comes the second check. Then you can count down the approximate 12 weeks to pick up. The motorcycle going in the back of the TV (tow vehicle)?
  6. I am thinking more of a quick release or debris cage. like is used to keep debris out of scuppers or other drains. I am thinking a pair of 6X6 blocks 11" long bouncing around would damage a plug/socket protected only by a releasable zip tie. Will have to wait and see all we have to work with.
  7. Thought only one hatch on the starboard (left) side would be all I needed. However in looking at pictures again I didn't realize there was a 7 pin connector in there on the port (right) side. Seeing, my experience, they could get knocked loose by objects in there bouncing around and also with open mesh floor it is subject to moisture and corrosion. Will have to look at possibly looking at a way to build a guard or hasp to hold it on. A hatch on the other side makes a whole lot of sense to assess the plug... What is the inside opening of the hatch
  8. Love this whole concept. Such a great use of space. Think we will drill our chocks and blocks, and thread in a piece of knoted line (rope). This way we will be able to reach in and get the piece we need. Don't think we will drill or screw into the aluminum frame except to maybe replace an existing one. But a solid ubolt should give plenty of strength, maybe more, by spreading the bearing surface. Saw the pictures of hatch installation you showed in the other post, but close ups and measurement would be a great help. Thinking a propane quick connect, a shut off, on a hose that would come out of that hatch would save a lot of bending and be convenient and quick. A nice installation and clear pictures of what was done. Thank You...
  9. Wecome, when is your start date? Ours is schedule to start tomorrow, but that is a holiday(?). But I think they had "snowdays" built in, or at least we hope. We have booked and paid for a Oliver Rally first weekend of May...
  10. They say Meriweather Lewis was shot in the Tavern. I checked my anatomy book and couldn't find the tavern ANY where.
  11. Thanks, we have looked for the pictures, but get sidetracked. We are going to wait until we have a few miles on her, and knowwhat size blocks we use and what side I approach from. That said I think it is a super idea. Lots of marine hatches available, especially here along the coast. With a longer hose on the quick connect, with a shut off, I would only need one rectangular hatch. Question I think has been answered.

  13. Great idea about the propane quick connect at the tank. Where did you get the fittings? We thought we would pop the cover, disconnect the tank and screw on a hose to the stove. Your idea so much simpler and quicker. We are thinking about moving the tanks as far forward as possible and putting a rectangular hatch in on the side. Would be a great place to store chocks and blocking. We saw that idea in this forum, but can't find who or where again. We will have to wait until we get our unit home to see what exactly is involved.
  14. Mike.. designer said clean well with indentured alcohol. Then position graphic. Put a piece of masking tape a cross the top to act like a hinge. Lift it all the way up and slowly remove the backing as it is squeezed down and to the sides. Supposedly this new vinyl has micro channels to allow the air to go escape. Then the top covering is removed and wipe again. We thnk it has come out very well, and can't wait to see it on. Thanks for liking...
  15. Trying to upload a graphic photo..
  16. Between the salt water environment and changing seasons with the boats, the tractors and equipment at the farm and campground we have found to use the right grease for the right job. Most grease guns we have seen ( or those we have) will take either a tube or bulk. We have found the tubes to be more convenient and clean for us. It is your equipment, use what you are comfortable with. We have also read back through the forum, and have adjusted our needs and wants to those the others have found to work for them. When 50 to 60 miles in the woods we just know we would hate to walk to town for parts, when hopefully a proper ounce of prevention would have prevented it...
  17. I must be missing something in the whole discussion. For greasing zerk fittings on the Dexter EZ Flex a grease gun is necessary. To fill a grease gun you unscrew the cap, open a tube of the proper grease, insert, put cap back on and do the greasing. Now you can open and hand pack the grease gun, but why would you? It is a messy job. It is hard to store. I prefer a clean gun and hands if I am crawling under a unit searching for 16 zerks to fill. Now for wheel bearing we do prefer small tubs of wheel bearing grease, as we hand pack our bearings. We usually rub our hands with a little Dawn dish washing detergent first and then let it dry. When done packing, hands come really clean when washed. We do use a grease gun to top off and pressurize Buddy Bearings, but do not rely on that alone for grease. One gun. Pop out the other cartridge, pop in the proper one, pump out to clear the tube (it will change color) and done. Back to the fire...
  18. We picked some real nice suction hooks from Amazon. If we don't like where they are, we can move them. (courtesy of Try2relax). We are going to put in our own hatch in the 30lb. propane compartment. We just want to be sure exactly where we want them.
  19. Actually it was the compass rose with the Lone Star of Texas that inspired my decision to go with a custom graphic. We think it is very colorful and special, and sets your unit apart. We just picked it up today. It is the outline of the State with the State Seal in the middle. She also included a small one for the back. She doe fire trucks too and you know how fussy those guys are. I'll have to figure out again how to post pictures...
  20. We still will and will recommend to all "The Buzzy Chronicles". A great place to start for anyone considering an Oliver or any o the "egg" type trailer...
  21. I agree, I joined the FB site, but am going to cancel. I see photos taken from the forum and reposted, with different names and credits, on to the FB site. If plagiarism is this rampant in the supposed name of speed and is a closed site, how secure is it really? Especially as they want all your information. No thanks...
  22. Thanks. We got most of the bells, and a few of the whistles. We got the standard layout as room for a grandchild or two would be available. We have designed and will install our own graphic on the front and back. No extra hatches or propane outlets as we plan to install our own. As we listen to the wise counsel of informed owners we have ordered the upgraded suspension and 30lb propane tanks. Just now we wait, and see where we want to go.
  23. Thank you Randy. It was your involvement and excitement, through showing your unit, that turned the tide for us. We then booked the tour, and the rest is history...
  24. Purchasing and Production have been notified. Hull #TBD has been conceived and scheduled for a Jan. 16 start date... Let the wait begin...
