Thanks. I do remember seeing the 90 lbs. torque now, was searching for tire pressure. It just refers to the placard on the front of the unit. Must be that is set as the weight of the trailer is finished? I will write on the manual recommended pressure(s), as the labels seem to fade with the passage of time, same as me not remembering torque? Buzzy..studying herd management at UNH? Cuts into camping time doesn't it? Have to go home every night to milk?

I can see using one of these. Wonder why they might be banned in some places, for what ever reasons? Maybe they are worried about cross contamination? Guess we will get one. We will decontaminate same as we do with our fresh water hose a couple of times a year. (5% Clorox to some water and wipe down and fill for at least five minutes. And then flush with fresh water for 5 minutes). We will store the unit in a sandwich bag. We always screw the ends of the hose together so that creatures large and small don't crawl in when stored...

The manual is pretty generic, as it says check tire pressure and torque wheel lugs. However it doesn't give the specs. On the 'pre-flight checklist, it does say hook up to the tow vehicle (TV), and check to see that the fridge is on D.C.. Answers my question I guess, that the fridge is 3 way.... Thanks Buzzy for the manual download... We can make adjustments for model upgrades...

Thank you. Insightful information, for both 'newbies' and experienced owner both. The question came up as someone was discussing fridge on propane. We have always had our fridge on D.C. when hooked up and traveling. We have found that DC would not cool the fridge, but would keep it cold. So we cooled it by running AC or gas before starting, and switched as needed. We would then disconnect the tow vehicle when stopped. Not sure that would be necessary with solar...

Thank you. Another question; is the std. fridge 3 way?

Thank you. And a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, and Happy New Years to you and all you meet...

Cold weather camping and traveling...
Mainiac replied to Mike and Carol's topic in General Discussion
As we understand the headed hose piece on the Oliver: the area between a heated hose and the fill inside may not be protected from freezing. Evidently when the heated hose is disconnected, it allows the unprotected part to drain...hence no problem. Must be a check or flow valve inside the hull. Would make sense, unless I missed something. -

The fridge; is it two way or three way? If three way just wondering why you might run it on propane while running down the road? The tow vehicle (TV) would keep everything cold, you just have to remember to switch over during stops to keep from discharging the TV. When we replaced an ice box with a fridge in an older Scamp, we paid the extra for a 3way. We were always glad we did, even if this small unit required manually switching. I would think a top of the line like Oliver would be three way to give it the broadest range... -
Tank and Plumbing locations are where?
Mainiac replied to KarenLukens's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I have ALWAYS blown out lines, and then added RV antifreeze. I just make sure we have the waterheater on bypass and we will make sure the Oliver freshwater tank has a bypass too. By running antifreeze from one point it saves condensation, in the lines from the compressor, and as the faucets run red we let them for a few to put antifreeze into the plumbing traps. When the pressure has gone from the lines, we open all by pass lines, and its ready for spring. In the spring we open all faucets till the red is gone, fill the water heater and we are ready to go... -
Wonder if having the owners manual, sent to the new owners, a few months ahead of pick up might be useful. It might let the new owner to be more familiar with the pending product. Let them generate intelligent questions and just maybe eliminate some. It wouldn't need component manuals, maybe something like a quick start guide. Also a list of what will be provided and what the new owner will need to operate and hook up for the first time..

The spotlight I saw had a heavy aluminum triangle shaped plate with near the base. Could not figure out how that was used or needed. Like the search light aspect though. We have installed and used on boats over the years, and they have proven invaluable. With the new LED ones they must be special. Now maybe we have to look for motion/heat activated lights for the sides...

ScubaRX ..did I see this unit parked at the "mothership" a few weeks back? Reason I ask, I saw one there with a marine search light mounted on the back. Seems like with a remote control you could light up 270 degrees (unless it was higher than the AC). Nice idea in a remote or (spooky) place. Also like the name on the back on another unit - "Past Tents"...

Was that Schoodic Woods in Acadia? Will have to look at our unit when it comes to placing the skirt. Maybe some way on this unit to hang from inside. That way we could take advantage of the lightning. How long do you stay at a place before you consider putting the room on? Or does it depend on location? Thanks...

I asked the same question today of Anita. Not sure we got a viable answer. She said the person who assigns numbers waits for some reason until it becomes a full unit. I would think a vin number would be assigned when the chassis/frame was complete. After all once it becomes a rolling chassis it is a licensable vehicle. The number would be on all paper work and the last three numbers are the hull number. We wanted the vin to register and title, as when we pick it up we may not return home before temp. plates expire. I see no reason to delay.. call and ask, I think you have a very valid reason for a prompt number, and it would be in their best interest to provide one...

ScubaRx... two questions... Does that screen room have a panel that snaps to the camper? Most of them do. Most of the mosquitoes in Maine (and elsewhere) sneak into screen room from under the camper and then bite you in the ankles. If there is a way in they will find it. By the looks of the gravel pad and the thinning Spruce you must have been in northern Maine. Maybe the Allagash or Arcadia? By

ANNOUNCEMENT- OLIVER TRAVEL TRAILER RALLY 2017
Mainiac replied to hardrock's topic in Events & Rallies
Hi, We have booked in a day early at the CG. By then we should have had an Oliver for at least a week, and completed the break-in at Fall Hollow. We have had other RVs for a few decades so anticipate free time without problems. If you need volunteers to help newbies hook up, park, where sites were and so forth we would be glad to help. We called today and booked. Rates seemed more than fair. A side note. They are no longer a KOA (I didn't like the bright yellow anyway). So be sure to book through the CG number which is 1-931-796-3211, rather than a KOA web site. They use the Thousand Trails reservation system... -

How can you request folks have a hull #, and you don't have one yourself? Who, I don't recall any, have requested a Facebook page to fill a need? -
Thanks for the info, will get some 'red' grease on board. As a matter of fact maybe I ought to start a tool box with dedicated tools and sockets that fit the nuts, bolts, wheels, and screws of the Oliver. Question: what about the end of the spring away from the Dexter? Surely that end gets the same type of wear and stress?

Thanks. Think we will pack a grease gun just to be sure...

Received an email from Anita at Oliver today, and I was informed that they would install a fold up TV. There would be no additional labor cost. They would credit me for the normal TV and then charge me for the one they use. I have inquired what that all means, but have not yet received a reply...

Was just informed by Anita that they CAN put in the fold up TV at no additional labor cost. They will credit for the standard TV, and charge for the one they use. What that means I have inquired, but have not got an answer yet. That sounds like it has been approved and should be of interest to a lot of forum members...

Reason we asked is while at the factory we had watched a frame unit that had evidently just come off the jig. It had the Dexter unit on it. There was no evidence of greese on any of the fittings. Either they had been wiped clean or greece had not been applied yet. I watched for, but never saw a grease gun at any of the stations.
