  1. We get our Ollie, our first camper, in January or February so Santa is delivering an entire "sleigh" (collapsible wagon) filled with newbie goodies. So far Santa is bringing: Disposable Gloves, X-Chocks, Airtight Pet Food Container, Kaito Emergency Radio, Collapsible Silicone Kettle, Telescopic Garden Rake, Adjustable Broom and Dustpan, & 5 Gallon Collapsible Water Carrier. "Toy" suggestions greatly appreciated. I'm sure there is room for more.
  2. How do you like these? Compared to the wedge ones? Get both?
  3. SMH! My husband uses a CPAP & this dilemma never occurred to us when we ordered our Ollie last month. It's great to read that there are various solutions!
  4. My brother uses one of these in *his RV & says it heats better than the propane one. (*He does not have an Oliver.) We use one in our bedroom so we don't have to heat the entire house. The Delonghi website has a nice way to determine what you may need. http://www.delonghi.com/en-us/products/comfort/find-your-ideal-heating-system
  5. On our way home to Florida after our Ollie factory tour, Duke & I stopped by the Lake Guntersville State Park. All I can say is that this is the nicest State Park I have ever visited! We hope to attend the May Rally & meet everyone!
  6. Thank you Don for the positive post! It adds to the anticipation of our factory tour this Wednesday.
  7. We'll be there October 24 & 25. We've had wonderful experiences with VRBO.com & hope to have the same luck with AirBnB.
  8. Our lives are somewhat parallel. We live in Lakeland & will not be allowed to store our Ollie at home when we get it, which is also February or March of 2018. We've gone back & forth on selling our home & moving north, closer to family & four seasons - and to not have to spend two days of any trip out of the state leaving & coming home - but we both have such deep roots here ... I hope you continue to share how your adventure goes! Chris
  9. Thank you for sharing Sandy's story. You bared a part of your soul to complete strangers & gave us a riveting glimpse into a world very few of us would ever experience. I have so many thoughts and questions that I don't know where to begin; however, for now, in honor of Sandy & in reference to this thread: http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/a-group-of-olivers/ I want to change my vote to a "Band" of Olivers. Chris
  10. Raspy, I'm to page 13 & only stopped to switch to my laptop. Your story about Sandy is wonderfully written, captivating, refreshing, heart-warming & I'm going to cry, aren't I?
  11. I would love to read Sandy's story.
  12. We're staying here when we go up at the end of the month for our factory tour so I can't say how nice it is or isn't. They allow pets for an extra fee. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/11511258?location=Hohenwald%2C%20TN%2C%20United%20States&s=nSQY_YKJ
  13. What a wonderful story of making the best of a bad situation & counting your blessings! As Irma's eye plowed over Lakeland & our 1920s bungalow rattled for four long candlelit hours, I was wishing we had our Oliver to escape with. The next hurricane season we will!
  14. Excellent list! Thank you!
  15. Lots of great suggestions! Oasis gets my vote. I like the nautical ones too or an Array of Ollies, Folly of Ollies, Fleet of Elites, ...
  16. If there is any of that, I'll be hurling into the barf bag. Thank you for the G-force education & I do wish you would film it!
  17. Absolutely! Or a Doodle. Or two.
  18. I have no idea what that means but this one gets an A+!
  19. Mr. MacGyver, this one cracked me up. I appreciate your ingenuity. To my level-headed-farm-boy husband's dismay, I'm a bit of a nerd myself & was wondering ... [Keep in mind I've only been inside an Ollie II once & that was a couple months ago.] Could you slice one side of a swim noodle & cut it to fit the width of the door jam, then shove the noodle over the edge of the jam to keep the door open?
  20. This, alone, seals it! Sideways it will be! Billy Donovan or their team colors? ;) Thank you both for contributing to a fantastic product! Chris
  21. Good point about the cover flipping to the right. On the Oliver Facebook page someone posted a photo of an Ikea-like shelving system that they mounted on the wall behind the sink & stove that the cover might interfere with if it weren't sideways. We did. We hope since our Ollie build won't begin until November, that when we go up in October if we don't like our choices we can change them. It's unsettling to select something sight unseen that is rather pricey. Floor - Seagrass; Fabric - Tuxedo Grey; Blue & Orange stripes - Go Gators!
  22. I apologize if there is a thread about this out there somewhere in Forumland, but I can't seem to find diddly using the search feature. Looking over the measurement index, it shows measurements between the sink and stove based on the standard set up or if the stove is turned sideways. (6 & 5/8" or 11") Did anyone specifically choose one or the other & if so, why, pros, cons? Oliver has our deposit (Yay!) & our site visit is at the end of October (Awesome!); I want to have as many questions answered before we get there. Thank you all! Chris
  23. Found this info about traveling to Alaska: http://www.doityourselfrv.com/the-milepost-alaska/
  24. Because, on another thread, GaryJona said: "The first place my wife and I went to in our first Trailer was straight to the Alcan Highway to Alaska, a great trip and be sure to be there mid July on as the Salmon start coming in, it ands to the bear watching. PS when you go if possible go up through Glacier into Canada crossing right there and do the Waterton National Park to Banff into Jasper and the Canadian Ice Fields a for sure do not miss this part. You can go straight up to the Alcan starting point just out of the west end of Jasper. Enjoy Thanks Gary" And then SeaDog said: "I think we need to start an Alaska thread. We found so many amazing, mostly empty campgrounds on our trips I’m infatuated with the Yukon. So few people, so much wildlife, and wonderful rustic campsites. I think Yukon territory sites were $10 cad last year , roughly $7.60 us. Free firewood. We were often the only ones, or just a few others, in the campgrounds." And I agreed. And since taking our Ollies to ALASKA is on several folk's bucket lists, I asked "We" to start this thread.
  25. Agree! Our first big trip in our Ollie will be to Alaska to visit our son. Would love to hear about everyone else's adventures.
