  1. Has anyone found a grate/grille that fits the screen door? Or made one yourself? I bought one that "adjusts to fit virtually all RV screen doors," except ours. (I thought I'd seen one on here, but could not find it with the search feature.)
  2. Last month, when we were getting our Ollie training we were told that the tow vehicle only maintains the batteries, it doesn't charge them. Remembering your mod, I confirmed what he said. Is "maintaining" what you mean or is your tow actually charging your batteries? Thank you again Raspy for all these great suggestions!
  3. Ahh, boats ... that red one is nice. November 4, on the way to launch in Tampa Bay, our dear ShallowGal was rear ended & deemed totaled. Insurance didn't cover replacing her & we'd just made our Ollie deposit so we decided it's time to close that 25-year chapter and focus on the next one, which we know will be great! Chris
  4. Hello Mike & Krunch! Congratulations on your serendipitous good fortune & luck. Your Lakeland neighbors look forward to meeting you at the Rally. Chris
  5. Take a picture of the list with your phone!
  6. I'm not sure what photo y'all are looking at that shows our trailer connected to our truck. In the snow photo it's not connected. We did cross the safety chains (had boats for decades) and the Ollie "chains" are PIA wound tight cables that I hope will relax with time, and heat. :) Only photo I could find of tongue setup, although not connected to truck. But, seriously, I do appreciate that you took the time to check. Chris
  7. Several blogs for newbies suggest having a dry erase board in your RV to note important information you might forget, especially in an emergency situation (like where you are.) This seemed like great advice, having been a 9-1-1 operator who has been on the other end of panicked "I-don't-know-where-I-am" phone calls, so I mounted a board with Velcro on the back of the closet door. As I eyeballed it for level, I realized - heck, I'll be living inside one gigantic white board & wondered (too afraid to try it myself) if anyone has written with a Dry Erase Marker on their walls & if so, did it erase?
  8. “bring your own breakfast item to share” This is our first time attending the Rally & I'd love to have an idea of what breakfast items have been brought in the past. Or what wasn't that would've been nice to have. Thanks! Chris
  9. I believe that trailer belongs to ScubaRx. I thought that was quite clever! And I like the idea of a yearbook. It needs to have everyone's pets' names too. Beluga is owned by two gorgeous Golden Retrievers. Thank you for the tip about Oleano State Park. I'd not heard of it; my husband knew of it through FFA. He said they used to have Forestry camp there. Us central Florida folk just don't get to experience those arctic temps too often. It's humbling realizing how much of a wimp I truly am.
  10. Brilliant! Love this & removing the bar. Looks like this is the Partie Ollie!
  11. Trish, I would love to hear/see how you organized your Ollie. Today is our first day in ours (& first time campers) & I am overwhelmed. (Thankfully we took this maiden voyage without our dogs.) Neither my husband nor I are very organized & I must tackle this before it gets out of hand.
  12. We took delivery of our trailer yesterday. Because of the unusual weather, a large portion of the Natchez Trace road was closed & locals highly discouraged driving on the part still open. We stayed at the Fall Hollow B&B, which was fine, nothing fancy, but it's clean & the breakfasts are delicious! They're only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday for dinner so we didn't get to experience that. Noel, the new owner, (2 years?) is a gracious host. I'll confess, I wimped out & we didn't stay in our trailer the first night. It was FOUR degrees. What can I say, I've lived in FLA my whole life & have never experienced temps that cold. We're in it now at Wind Creek State Park in Alabama, it's 22 degrees & I'm as comfy as can be.
  13. Wind Creek State Park in Alexander City, AL. It's 24 degrees & we are toasty warm while peering out the window at billions of stars.
  14. Wednesday the 17th is our Ollie's day of birth and this Florida girl, who is trailer & winter camping for her first time, is comforted by this thread - considering the forecast.
  15. There are many variables, but, our tour was scheduled for 10a & lasted about two hours. It was lunch time when it was over, so we went into town for lunch & then went back to the office to meet with Heather & finalize our paperwork. Maybe four hours total?
  16. Here are a few photos from our wonderful tour with Scott. If he pointed at & explained something in detail, I snapped a picture. Embarrassingly, most of these I cannot explain but I thought they might be beneficial for prospective buyers. We pick up Hull # 292 (Shallow Gal 3) January 17th!
  17. Living in Florida all my life, most of this is foreign to me, but I get it. What I have never heard before are concerns about problems with too much humidity in winter. What do I need to look out for? Thank you all! Chris
  18. Duke & Chris Chadwell are in E-29! (The beasts too.) I am definitely up for zip lining - never done it, always wanted too!
  19. The military water containers definitely win when it comes to looks! The wheeled Hydroller is a good idea. The thought of schlepping 40+ pounds of water was not well thought out on my part.
  20. We get our Ollie, our first camper, in January or February so Santa is delivering an entire "sleigh" (collapsible wagon) filled with newbie goodies. So far Santa is bringing: Disposable Gloves, X-Chocks, Airtight Pet Food Container, Kaito Emergency Radio, Collapsible Silicone Kettle, Telescopic Garden Rake, Adjustable Broom and Dustpan, & 5 Gallon Collapsible Water Carrier. "Toy" suggestions greatly appreciated. I'm sure there is room for more.
  21. How do you like these? Compared to the wedge ones? Get both?
  22. SMH! My husband uses a CPAP & this dilemma never occurred to us when we ordered our Ollie last month. It's great to read that there are various solutions!
