  1. To watch TV when your on the _ _ _. trainman
  2. Well those pics told me one thing, I'm not going Boondock'en. trainman
  3. I don't think anything is loose, but until the cover comes off the A/C unit and I inspect it, who knows. The outside temp was around 95 degrees, but even night time with lower temps did not make a difference on the popping sounds, or if the A/C was on, or off. Now these sounds are random, so there is no set pattern when the will happen. Movement in the trailer is not a factor either, as this happen when we are in bed and not moving around in the trailer. I still think it was that the rear jacks were not under enough pressure and their adjustment may have been more on one side vs. the other. If it wasn't so hot outside I would go out an take a nap in the trailer as see if it will happen, yes I do have power to the trailer at home, but just haven't wanted to fool with it at this time, I have to work on my garden railroad as it is more fun then messing with the trailer. I still think it is stress related in the fiberglass, after owing several Corvettes and being with Chevrolet for 35 plus years, I have had owner of Vettes say they get a popping sound from time to time. Plus I have owned many boats of all types of fiberglass and they may have popped to, but just couldn't hear them when under power on the water. I will let you know if something comes up, but I don't expect to be doing too much camping during this Texas heat and everything else that is going on. Maybe we can set around at the Oliver Rally (if it happens) and have a beer and wine "popping party". trainman
  4. I always carry the trailer keys, electric door lock, or not. trainman
  5. After not having one on our other trailers and them having one on the Oliver, I'd go for it. trainman
  6. Well not that this doesn't happen,, probably normal, let's face it, it's fiberglass and glued together. We were camping last weekend and for some reason the trailer up by the A/C area in the roof popped all night long. Just a sharp pop, crackle, whatever, this has happened before and I just figured settling of the fiberglass construction, but there was more popping then usual. I thought that maybe I didn't put enough tension on the rear jacks as I did notice that the trailer was not as stable as other times, but too laze to go out and give the jacks a little bump down. Just wondered if you have ever experienced this before, I don't see where you could do much about it, but adjusting the stress on the trailer with the jacks is probably the only thing you could do. trainman
  7. Well to date my biggest dislike is where the fresh water tank drain valve is located. It's just in a very not convenient place to get to, I have to raise the mattress, take off the door, and reach down on my hands and knees to open it, close the same procedure. If that round excess door they put there was for that use, then you would have to bend your arm backwards to use it. I guess I could install a small excess door like the one in the bathroom located about the valve. My other trailer had this valve located outside, but being an all weather trailer this wouldn't work out too well for the Oliver. Anyone came up with other ideas that work better for them. trainman
  8. Many of us campers have many ideas on what we want our trailer to be, be it doing modification to suit our needs, or just modification to have something to do because that's what we do. I have found over the years that I like modifications that make life easier and more convenient use of what I have. If I have to move something every time I want to use it, it's more of a hassle then a convince. I have found the Oliver by design is pretty complete and a well thought out trailer, but there are those little things that make it even better, or easy of use as I call it. trainman
  9. We purchased our 2019 Elite II with four options, convection microwave, extra LP outlets, powered door lock, and a bike rack which we don't use. All being said, our trailer is just perfect for us and all those extra features are just not needed. I will say we don't Boondock so for those of you that do some additional options may be needed. Our 2019 Elite II was less then $55000 dollars, not that we were going for price, but we were going for what we needed for fun camping for us. I will say that when we talk with other Oliver owners, most don't use those extra options, but felt they needed to purchase them just because it was an Oliver and didn't wanted to be left out because it was a Oliver. Folks let me tell you, we are still the hit of the camping ground when we pull in and no one has ever said, you got the cheap model. In fact most that look at our trailer are totally surprised at all the features and niceness of the trailer. I look at a $68000 Oliver as $13000 more then I paid and would never get the value out of the trailer for our camping style. trainman
  10. I didn't know that, when we ordered our trailer they told me the that the graphics where made for them by a graphics shop, I didn't realize they meant their shop. Just assuming that the cost of material, graphic cutters, etc. would be less expensive for them to have it made offsite. trainman
  11. Oliver's decals are made by a sign company, so I would think that any color materials that are available to that sign company you could get. I do know that metallic colors are an extra charge. I guess someone said that the graphics style has changed for Oliver, I have not seen a pic of that as of yet. Oliver would probably let you talk to there sign company for colors that they don't offer and remember your colors may not be the colors you want. I know how I am on stripes and graphics, so I want mine to have that special look that I like, get your special look you want. trainman
  12. I have found the cushions to not be very comfortable which ever way I place them, If you can't get a rocker recliner in the trailer then I see little hope of ever being comfortable. We have a added 4" memory foam mattress and I usually just lay down, my favorite position in life. Many have upgraded their cushions and like it, my personal feeling on this is it would still be uncomfortable for me, but work for others. trainman
  13. Our choice was easy, it's all white, black, and gray colors and it turned out better then we thought it would. Yes, we have the standard all white fiberglass counter tops and other matching items that it comes with. As I was told at delivery, Mr. Oliver said, "it looks to good not to charge for it". trainman
  14. I opted for this style, PVC that comes apart and probably less expensive which we know it's not the price as much as getting what we want. I made two from 1" schedule 40 PVC, stainless hardware, and at a cost of around $30.00 for two, this does not include the price of the flags. I did purchase a flag light from Home Depot that mounts on the PVC flag pole, it it solar powers to recharge the battery, and goes on and off with the daylight, $22.00. This poles is mounted in the ground by a 3' x 1/2" rebar and it swivels in the wind to keep the flag from twisting up on the pole. One 10' PVC makes one pole, plus the other items needed. This pic was taken at home just after I finished the flag pole setup. trainman
  15. I have found no shortage of 120v outlets on our 2019 Elite II, but we carry an extra 25ft. ext. cord just in case it's needed. Yes, the wife has found a use for it a couple of times, mostly for outside use. Remember your outside power post will in most cases have a 120v receptacle on it you can also use. The campground does not charge for a double hookup, haha. trainman
  16. I would probably not change out the PVC for plywood, there are too many options for attaching screws when the holes are stripped out in the PVC. I can only think of 4-5 at this time, but changing out to plywood with give some something to do, I personally don't think it's the better choice. trainman
  17. I personally have never weighted a trailer, I have always used commonsense when towing. Leveling, weight balance, towing angle, and the proper tow vehicle. I guess you feel the need to spend money on these gadgets to make you feel better about what you are doing, then I say, go for it. I can tell you that there are a lot of people who tow that don't have a lot of commonsense, just look at there rigs when towing and I wonder how they got from point A to B in one piece. trainman
  18. I use my jacks for light stabilization of the trailer, I see no need to stabilize beyond that. I assume that some need their trailers stabilized like there foundation on their home for whatever reason, I guess it's just there comfort level they need to achieve. I do not put them down when stored, just see no need for it. trainman
  19. I guess you have to do what works for you, we have 3" memory foam mattress that we purchased from Walmart ($130.00). I got the queen size and it just had to be cut into and shortened about 5", we put in on top of the factory bed cushions. trainman
  20. Davy Crockett State Park is around 45 miles from Holenwald, Oliver said if I had a problem wile there and if it couldn't be handled on the phone they would drive there and bring a tech to check it out. trainman
  21. We came from Texas which was only about 700 miles to Holenwald and were able to carry what we needed in our Crew Cab full size pickup. It as truly loaded, but only had to go to Walmart three times to pickup things that we didn't bring after picking up our trailer the first day. Probably didn't spend over $30 in all three trips. We were coming from a Casita, so we have always been able to travel somewhat light and new just about what we would need to work our way back to Texas over a six day period. I really wanted to get back home to make those improvements to the trailer that I had already collected and we waiting for me to install in my shop. You can stay a Oliver for a couple of days if you want to settle in after the long trip there, they have hookups and like you said a Walmart and Tractor Supply are close by. We did opt for the Davy Crockett State Park stay for two nights which we found very nice and the town is much larger then Holenwald and offers more dinning and shopping if needed. I think you got it figured out, so all should go well. trainman
  22. I think I'm going to look for one of those parking meter covers tonight on the Ft. Worth streets when no one is looking. Mine might say, Free Parking, or No Parking on it. trainman
  23. I come from the automobile world and custom design is one of my favorite things on vehicles, be it autos, motorcycles, boats, atv's, or campers, I like to give my vehicles that personal touch, with good taste. trainman
  24. Wow, the cost of the foam sure does seem high as you can purchase a complete memory foam mattress from Walmart for around $130 (queen size) and cut out what size you need with an electric knife. I would also recommend going to an upholstery shop, they have foam in stock in most cases and you can set on a piece an checkout the feel. I have purchased seat foam this way and the cost was around $20 each for chair bottoms and cut to fit the covers. trainman
  25. Welcome from FT. Worth, our trailer does say Lone Star Travelers, it's not a group, or club, just our own design. Hope to meet on down the road someday when the parks open up and camping is back to where it was. trainman
