  1. John the emissions on both can be a concern if your not careful. Just saying there are a lot of options out there. Technology is changing all the time.
  2. On the generator option you may want to look at the Champion duel fuel 3400 watt electric start, propane and gas. I found out how well it worked. Last Florida Hurricane 1 week with out power. The gas ran out in a two days, running 24/7 Taped into the trailers 30lb tanks it ran flawlessly for the next 4 days with running the Ac. Great unit and only weighs less than 75lbs
  3. I chose not to have the solar option. (1) cost. You can get a lot of other options and a 2000 watt generator for less. (2) Boon docking. I don’t plan on any long term off grid stays 2-3 days if any. I did opt. For the AGM deep cycle battery’s, 2000 watt inverter, Ac easy start and an extra 30 amp outlet. With all that, the small generator is plenty. Don’t forget your tow veh. I have a Chevy diesel with a 200amp alternator, which can run all day and is quieter than the generator. Battery’s will charge quickly. With all that charging capability why solar? Of coarse down the road if i feel the need for solar everything is there for the install. Or choose a portable solar panel for a battery maintainer. (3) Also didn't want the big panels on the roof the less holes the better.
  4. Has anyone heard or seen any 2019 reviews on the Oliver by the big Rv magazines? wondering if there is any new competitors out there?
  5. Nice picture. I’d keep the pleasure way. It looks like a nice match to the Ollie. Safe travels.
  6. Looks like a strike to me, there’s a lot of things on the road that could kick up more so than rocks, anything and everything. There are a lot of careless drivers out there that don’t secure items while driving down the road. I feel for you, that sucks hopefully it wont be to hard to repair, good luck
  7. You can do like I did, check off the options that you really have interest in. Then you look at each one more closely ask questions check the forums. Then narrow it down to your own personal preference. You’ll have plenty of time to make final decisions before you get a production date.
  8. I get that they are very busy. And i know its all about the money, and No, no anxiety issues. This is my opinion only. Oliver is a family owned, custom built trailer. You plan, research emails back and forth, you put your initial deposit to wait weeks before your build date. More phone calls and emails to get it right. Then your build time arrives. No more change. I get that. But then it ends, no more follow up. Will let you know when to pick up the trailer. ( maybe I’m wrong) I hate keep referring to airstream. They invite you to the plant during the build and let you photo the build as many times as you would like to return. Something simple like hiring someone not for sales, but to keep track of customer builds. I’m not saying daily up dates. Maybe, by weekly quick email and photo. It was done at the start, it would show even more passion of the build. Just a thought.
  9. Nice that will be a good size. Thank you. Unrelated question my trailer went into production today. Does Oliver give regular updates or do i need to call?
  10. Mike and Carol Do you have a full front photo of your trailer. 23.5” may be a good size. Thanks
  11. I ordered my Elite ll without the front graphic. I’m having the graphic of a compass made, which I saw on another OTT. Would anyone have the size measurements for the front graphics, so I can have the compass graphic made to similar in size. Much appreciated.
  12. I would worry more about the bike rack, must be a special bike rack to hold that kind of weight. A lot of racks in small print will say do not use this bike rack on the rear of a trailer. Double check your manual.
  13. Thanks for the pictures. Doesn’t look like a difficult change over. I have never used this type of hitch I’ll wait and put the 2in into use before I consider the change. Takeing apart the trailer and I haven’t even gotten it yet. Love it. 6/26/19 ?
  14. If any one has pictures of the upgraded 2 5/16 coupler I would appreciate it The 2” coupler isn’t a big concern although I was surprised that they use a 2” coupler. 2 5/16 is the norm for most Rv trailers. 1 7/8 are a thing of the past.
  15. I use a small compressor by Senco found at lowes. It’s small lightweight has a 1gal tank nice carry handle. I think it has 150psi max pressure don’t quote me on that. It’s used for nail guns works great for tire inflation. It will run to keep up with filling tires with low pressure but does the job. Cost around $150. There are many options out there for compressors small also look at off road portable they also have compressed air tanks that hold 3500 psi but getting them refill is a pain. Lot of options good luck. I looked it up its 125psi max and now at Home Depot for $129
  16. Airstream where to start. They made top travel trailer for 2019 I think they made the top only by tv advertising and celebrity hype. I owned a 30’ serenity I also thought they were the best quality not true. Constant rivet popping, water leaks, squeaking floor, wet floor hard to dry out due to water leak, China bomb tires two blow outs. Very low ground clearance bottomed out almost every time trying to get into fuel stations state parks with any type ruts. For get it. Did I mention 4 weeks to two months wait list for service at any dealer. Why? must be a lot of repair work. Made a costly mistake once I don’t think I’ll be making a second with the Oliver.
  17. Glad to hear this. In this day and age its hard to find quality work and a team that takes pride in their work. As a former airstream owner. One thing I did enjoy if you went to the factory for service or warranty work they had several paved sites and hookups for overnight stays. At your appointment time they would get your unit then return it when they were done. If it was getting later in the day you could stay another night. Great concept except it took three or more months to get an appointment for service or warranty work,
  18. That’s number two Hymer and Snoozy sad. Maybe Oliver can weigh in and reasure everyone that they are still on top. I’m confident they are.
  19. Before I decided to purchase a new Elite II, I was very interested in a used 2016 Elite II. What I learned was interesting, I hadn’t heard of this. There is no value pricing for used Ott. Nada Rv only shows base price for new and no value for used or priceing for options. I learned that the only way to buy a used Ott would be a cash deal. I checked with several banks, and credit unions. No one would finance a used Ott. I also posed as a buyer at a Rv dealer, and said I had a used Ott Elite II for trade. After the salesman scratched his head and went to the manager they came back and said they can’t take it on trade. They couldn’t get financing for new buyer and there is no present value for used. At this point used Ott are selling like hot cakes and you can get close to original asking price. Which is great. The above hasn’t swayed my decision to buy New. Ott is the best I’ve ever seen. And it will out last me. Just thought the values were interesting. Something I’ve never seen before.
  20. I had asked this question at my factory tour. What is the future of the company? I was told that the Oliver family is very committed to the company and has no plans to change that. That was great to hear. In my opinion, most of the down fall to a lot of these large company’s is corporate greed. Of course if a Billon dollar check was put in front of you, it would be a serious consideration.
  21. Welcome The dreaded wait, me too. But the people on this forum make it worth the wait. After my June delivery date also heading to NH. Tamworth, NH to visit my mother, sound like a few members heading to NH ( rally?) good luck safe travels.
  22. One more thing forgot to mention. Rubbing alcohol is a good prep for vehicles it does remove wax to make a clean surface of added decals graphics etc. After removing the sap it would be a good idea to re wax those areas.
  23. Even less work than the above. Rubbing alcohol it desloves the sap and wipes off. I stayed at a state park in SC. Full of pine trees in the spring. Large drops of sap everywhere, on a black truck, not happy. The park Ranger suggested the rubbing alcohol. It worked great even with some dried on sap it took a little longer. Use small spray bottle, spray area and wipe microfiber cloth works great. Did not hurt the paint Now this was for pine sap. I don't know about other types of sap. Good luck I hate tree sap.
  24. I'm curious? Although I can't be much help I haven't gotten my unit yet I was told, and at the factory tour that most all the components can be accessed from any where in the trailer. If you have that much water leaking out the weep holes on city water, you should be able to see the leak from somewhere. I will be very interested in the outcome. It will be on my list of things to check at delivery. Thanks
  25. I agree with all the posts and thanks. I tend to go overboard on these and other items, always checking tire pressure and balance anything to make live on the road easier. Another key point on my purchase of the Ott was the wheel tire combo. You don't find this set up on travel trailers, most are all fitted with the China bombs. A/S. Yes a tire monitor system is on the buy list.
