The recent BBB aka “big beautiful bill” recently passed by Congress will remove tax credit incentives for EV purchases as well as home EV charger installations. This will certainly have a negative impact on future EV sales along with fossil fuels now returning to an affordable price. Open source -The $7,500 federal tax credit for new electric vehicle (EV) purchases, along with the $4,000 tax credit for used EVs, is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2025, according to recent legislative changes. Additionally, the tax credit for installing a home EV charger will end on June 30, 2026.

Great times and memories during the late 80’s and early 90’s at Greene Hall in New Braunsfels “boot scootin” a the hall. Tony, As a part of regular maintenance if it were me I would remove and clean and buy a quality can of black semi gloss rattle can paint up those jack “feet”. Just me. Mine are still in good shape and have not rusted. I do not winter camp so that is likely why. Not sure if you live in a Northern State, but sodium chloride is brutal on all things metal. While you’re under there clean off the old caulk and reapply a fresh bead. Good on you for inspecting these areas! 👍🏻 There is always something to do regarding ongoing maintenance, but once you knock it, out at least for me it’s a great feeling. Thanks for posting! I suppose if we needed to we could move into our Oliver where it’s parked here at home. Our steel “Ollie Hangar” was put to the ultimate test while we were camped in Yellowstone and it survived the brutal rain and hurricane force winds of Helene… a blessing for sure. As for back up power we installed a 24KW LNG whole house generator and never looked back. There is no better feeling than when the power goes out within 8-10 seconds our full home power is restored. Our generator ran for three days while our county and large parts of Western NC was under a complete outage. Neighbors thought I was over the top having a generator installed. After Helene hit and they lost all their frozen food, frigs and freezers, well they thought it was a genius move. 🤔 Several neighbors now have whole house gens🤷‍♂️. Keeping up our preventive service of HVAC and our generator is a high priority for us. But yes, things can and do happen. As for bugging out in the Oliver, we live pretty rural and in a small lake community. Leaving our home is more than likely not going to happen. Where we live we are 911, I will leave it at that. 😉😎 With 2.5 years in, I highly recommend if you can swing it in your budget consider a whole house generator, preferably one that runs on LNG. This gen set immediately notifies us anywhere in the US via Mobile link with a txt and email when every it exercises or runs due to a power outage or if it needs maintenance. This EU3200i gen lives in the bed of our TV. It starts on the second pull every time. I have always been a fan of Honda products for their whisper quiet running, reliability, and longevity. We rarely use our 3200, but we would rather have it and not needed than need it and not have it. Our 3200 will run our 13.5 Truma Aventa just fine. There are lots of lower cost or cheaper decent quality generators options out there. Many use the Harbor Freight and big box store gens. It really depends on your budget and how often you plan to run a gen. There is a company in Mass that does LP conversions on the Honda 3200 if you choose to go the LP route. You will experience a little power loss using LP as explained in this link. The upside is you never have to carry gasoline. Looks like you're all set, and 👍🏻 you’re keeping your gear clean, high and dry is wise. Setting up and breaking camp for us has never been an issue, fortunately no bumps or lumps or bruises. Unlike many folks, we travel fairly light, ready to camp, and all of our immediate go to set up gear is stored in our Sea Biscuit front storage basket the rest under our ARE Z topper. There are trade offs for sure. I always say, ya gotta roll with what works best for you and puts a smile on your face! 🇺🇸😄

I am in the completely opposite camp. For us not having a topper is like equivalent to leaving our trunk up on our car especially during a thunderstorm storm while underway down highway. 😂 Our topper provides a reasonable level of security vs open air, and has served us well keeping our gear clean, high and dry. This really comes into play when we set up basecamp, and leave our Oliver to go and XPLOR a NP or maybe enjoy a nice dinner out somewhere. I guess I am over the top with the security of our expensive gear. Our ARE topper at least gives us a little peace of mind and we have not had any issues yet. I guess there are easier pickens out there. I am sure you will come up with a good way to keep your gear clean, high and dry most of all secure! Mod On! 🤠

The only caution flag I would have with your cooler install is wet weather/ hard rain. I know that the Truma coolers cannot be exposed to rain, likely Dometic has to be the same. Have you thought of a way to protect it from a down pour. You may want to consider the manufacturers insulated cover to help with direct sun also. I know our Truma 36C runs less under our ARE topper in higher temps with the insulated cover installed. I also give the cooling vents on our Truma plenty of space to breath…and cool the unit.
