Fed Up With the RV Standard. Oliver Looks Like the Answer
johnwen replied to Kampfirekid's topic in Introduce Yourself
We met an Oliver family a couple days ago in South Dakota who picked up their Oliver over a year ago and relayed they had no problems since. That is encouraging! Yes, we plan to thoroughly exercise every system/switch/button we can in short order 🙂 and we have no doubt Jason and his team will take care of us! -
Fed Up With the RV Standard. Oliver Looks Like the Answer

John, FWIW I agree and will rely on the forum for help to get the most out of our camping experiences. There are quite a few knowledgeable and qualified people, IMO, that give detailed information out to help others. I certainly wish I had options for decor colors other than what's offered, a/c brands that offer quiet operation with a heat strip, electrical system options, and the list goes on. Forum reports on quality control are disconcerting in some instances. We visited production 3 years ago and witnessed much more attention to detail than we did 1 month ago and we realize many businesses are struggling with their workforce stability. But we are hoping to get that top notch hull and frame before that falls by the wayside. I want to add that Jason and his service department are a driving force in our decision to put our 1/2 payment down tomorrow. We love our Casita and will hold onto it for some time in case things don't work out favorably with the Oliver. But if we can tailor the Oliver to what we want, and I most certainly believe we can, our mid-January delivery of "Bessie" will be a wonderful day 🙂 -
Thanks for the update, Ray and Susan. We elected to go with AGMs and the 2k inverter. OTT had one trailer setup in their showroom as well as one with the big lithiums and the 3k inverter. Every time I visited the showroom, 4 times now, I couldn't get comfortable with the fan noise coming from the 3k. The AGM setup with the 2k inverter was quiet so we elected to go with AGM. To be fair the lithiums were in bulk mode and the 2k was in float so the 2k may very well make as much noise in bulk mode. I'm hoping for quiet as the 2k charges with less amps, 100 vs 150 I believe. We finalize the order next week and pick up in January so I'll post back with my experiences. John

Introduced to walleye last year in Wisconsin just last year, I am a BIG fan!!! 🙂

Hi Jim and Frances. The Keystone link provided me with refreshing, general troubleshooting ideas and was a synergistic post for the 1st half of reading, then devolved as most do without resolution. It helped me with my "little box" thinking. The Easy Start pdf deserves a little more of my time when I experience my problem next time. I would have never thought the Easy Start could have been a suspect as it has been working flawlessly for the past year in my Casita. My transition to the Ollie next year is much anticipated and I actually welcome "some" challenges to keep me busy 🙂, ones that can be resolved, however! Thanks, John

Bill, That is true...no stripes according to my salesman as of 2 weeks ago. John

We saw that on 16 Aug. Could be waiting for the decals as most have none. Earlier this year (April) only one was naked and all others had decals. We ordered our naked as well. And yes, I won't wait to pick up ours even though it be the middle of January 🙂

Ya'll are adventurers for sure! Thanks for sharing...absolutely the places I'd like to travel to some day when I get my next TV. Your photos are indeed inspirational 🙂

Ok, we made our decision. 440ah AGM package and a 2k watt inverter and solar on the roof. Thanks to all for your help 🙂 Pickup in Jan 2022...yeehaw.

I think that is good advice, John. It's probably a very good starting point but we all drive under different conditions and the "FEEL" you're talking about will be different for us all. Safe travels! 🙂

Thanks ScubaRx, Over 4x that of my Casita 🙂

Bhncb, Thanks so much 🙂 I looked and looked all over the site but somehow missed it!

Hello all, I can easily find AH ratings for the Li batteries...390/630. As for the 4 x 6 volt AGMs I cannot find its overall rating. 2022 Elite 2 model. Thanks for any help, John

Yay!!! Have fun 🙂 Glad no problems!

Thank you NR 🙂

Thank you CS, very good to know 🙂

Thanks, Mike 🙂

The Oliver II, and yes I considered the sizeable increase in Ah capacity. Just trying to "get it right" for us. Don't want to have to rewire if we do get the AGMs and later change to lithiums.

Thanks, Jim. Makes sense concerning the longevity of the battery endurance in terms of charging and the life of the battery. Decisions decisions! 🙂

Hi SeaDawg, I have one 100ah AGM with a portable 100w Renogy that I added last summer to our Casita. It did keep up, barely, with our day to day operations, with me chasing the sun. We used the maxair fan, 3 way fridge on propane, and the occasional water pump (by far using the most power), and led lights. If I start out with AGMs do I need to rewire for lithiums if I change over in the future? Thanks, John

Not at all, routlaw! We are full timers and don't have much of a clue how the Oliver will open boondocking opportunities. I welcome the 4 season advantages and want to maximize off grid times, if we even go that route. Thanks for your help 🙂 ........we stayed over for all of July last year at a private park in Garrison, MT and were planning to be there this July but for family health issues. 50 degree temperature swings seem to be very common for that part of the state in the summer. Thanks for the help, Dan. We'll have to commit mid-September for a mid January pickup....brrrr! Just trying to get as much info as possible. 80k+ is a big number for us so I'm trying to get it right the first time. Best of luck with your October pickup 🙂

Thanks, rideandfly. 5000 lbs...that's pretty light 🙂

Thanks,Mike! That's a big weight difference. Did you put in an inverter/converter as well? John
