It's not lower end, as no Oliver ever made is lower end. It was evidently the best decision for you, based on your camping plans. Practical. I commend you for not overspending, for something you won't use. Thanks for providing another perspective.

So many issues. I'm afraid it will get worse, before better. I'm looking at starting my Christmas shopping soon... so many backorder this year. From all my reading, and boat show demos, Nature's head is the better rv choice, though. I'd probably wait and install later, than jump to a lesser brand. (We still use a stinky slinky, no waterless toilet yet,, so temper my comments that way.)

If you choose to file for the credit, follow the guidelines, and check with your tax advisor. There are of course a number of specifics you must follow, and qualify. This is a credit (comes off the bottom line), not a deduction.

I have not, but one of my brothers has taken a canoe building class (among others) at the North House folk school in Grand Marais. He really enjoyed it. These classes, teaching traditional skills and crafts, in a small group setting, seem like an ideal camping experience. My brother and I have talked for years about taking a traditional Norwegian timber framing class. Maybe someday...

I was talking with a friend this morning who was considering installing a new panel or two, and swapping agm for lithium. The federal tax credit takes a bit of the sting out, if batteries are installed with solar. No credit for batteries only, is my understanding.

I've been checking the recpro site occasionally to see if the Houghton ac has been in stock, and lately, it's been good, both in black and white. Today, I noticed another interesting ac unit on their site. https://www.recpro.com/recpro-12v-rv-air-conditioner/ This one runs on 12v, not 110, with an average of 80 amps in their testing, so theoretically, those of you with the big lithium installs might just be able to run ac overnight, without a generator or hookups. It's way too big for my rooftop available space at 33 x 48, but very low profile. Coachmen is supposed to be using this in their new model Galleria, on a sprinter chassis, so we'll probably get some reviews from those owners soon. All I could find was one youtube, and some testing charts from Premier. It's inverter compressor technology, so no easy start necessary. But, it also comes with a $2500 price tag. And, #2 wire needs to be run. It's encouraging, however, to see some new players in rv ac.

I think a couple other members may have painted the frames, as well. Windwalker doesn't drop by much, as he sold his Oliver some time ago.

I'm adding screenshots of the product for the day the Amazon link stops working. That looks really nice. I bought some u-shaped trim at an auto supply for ours years ago.

The Milepost is a good tool, with caveats. Sometimes businesses (gas stations, especially) that were open at time if printing are no longer open. It's full of ads. Seems to me that advertisers often get special attention in verbiage, whereas many pullouts and state, local, fish and game camping sites get barely a mention, if at all. That said, we always have one with us, not necessarily a current issue.

We've looked at ours as an investment in memories and fun. We'll probably keep our 2008 til "forever." If our daughter decides she doesn't want to camp, well, one well-maintained early Ollie will appear on the market. Someday.

Hey, @Overland, where did you find that top photo? That's my 2008, #12, probably in its first month or two. And, yes, Overland's photos show exactly what I was discussing. It's just the color of the frame of the blind.Thank you for the great illustrations, Overland. The actual window frame is white metal. It doesn't yellow.

We have yellowing on the window door frame, the front jack head, and the exterior outlet cover, all non-oliver . Our unit is stored outside. I've seen others as old with no yellowing, so either they've been painted, or stored inside. I think the "frames" you're seeing on the interior windows are the blind frames, which back five or six years ago were a rather yellowish beige color. Our 2008 blinds are a light putty color. The blind frames are a lighter, whiter color in current models. Ours have not become brittle with age, but yes, they can be replaced. Hull #198 just replaced their beige shades with white.

So, I read in another thread that you're hoping to leave for Whitehorse next week. That's awesome. Whitehorse is a lovely community, and a number of nice campgrounds outside Whitehorse. There was (probably still is) a free dump station at the Petro North if 60, near the Walmart supercenter. Don't remember if it required a fill up, but we found their prices good, anyway. Speaking of the Walmart, skip it, as it's pretty small, very crowded,, and poor food selections, and go instead to the Real Canadian Superstore. It's big, clean, great selection of meats and produce, and reasonable prices, for the Yukon. It's a good stock up spot for the rest of your trip. While you're in Whitehorse, check out Alligator's gourmet grilled cheese food truck, on the wharf in downtown. It's a pretty walk along the park, too. Yukoners are big campers, so expect closeby campgrounds to be full, or nearly full, in nice weather, and especially weekends. Yukon territory campgrounds are $12 Cad, cash, with no services, spotless pit toilets, and free firewood. No reservations.

My 2008 Elite, weighed many years ago at a CAT scale has a tongue weight of 420 pounds (no basket, 2 20# tanks), and 3960 total weight, loaded for camping with partial fresh, grey, and black tanks.

Some of us mod because we want to. Others don't. That's ok, too. It's really up to you. In our 14th season, some things have (unsurprisingly) needed replacement. Others, our choice.

Thanks for the link, @bhncb. Some really interesting and solid info there. Lower power consumption, and quiet. Almost worth going to the Hershey show next month to see it. It looks really nice, too. I would love to see the interior unit available in white, but the grey would look nice in an Ollie, too.

Welcome to the forum, @jumboscott. Have you had the opportunity to do the factory tour, or see an Oliver in person? The molded furniture doesn't allow for as many variations as some others, (because they build it from osb, mdf, and wood) but it's a snap to keep clean, and sturdy as all getout. Lots of storage, as well.
