Dometic thermostat not showing Bluetooth icon
Ray Kimsey replied to StillGame's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I don't know about the 2021, but I don't believe the dometic thermostat in the 2020 is bluetooth capable since on my thermostat there is no bluetooth icon at the bottom of the thermostat. Dometic makes one that is bluetooth capable like in the manual, but it shows a bluetooth icon on the thermostat as in the drawing you reference above. The thermostat in mine has just a plain white face at the bottom of the thermostat. -
Another day another issue - LP indicator
Ray Kimsey replied to TexasGuy's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Hi Brian, I don't understand what you are asking. So my apologies if you already understand what I am telling you. Once the primary cylinder that is selected by the propane change over lever runs out the regulator shows red. You can have both tanks open and when the regulator shows red it will switch to the other tank. You will know the original tank is empty because it is red. See about 1:30 in the propane tank video here: https://olivertraveltrailers.com/travel-trailers/videos/ -
Water pump filter screen housing degradation
Ray Kimsey replied to Frank C's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
We picked ours up back on Oct 14 and used the WalMart Pink antifreeze this winter. No issues with our filter housing so far. I will definitely add it to my list of things to check on though. -
TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) anyone have one?
Ray Kimsey replied to Swamp's topic in Towing an Oliver
I have the TST system and it works great. There are several that probably work well, but it is the one I ended up with. -
Failed Andersen tension chain coupler - ideas?
Ray Kimsey replied to JRK's topic in Towing an Oliver
Andersen does not usually have a coupling link on their anti-sway and weight distribution hitches. My understanding is since the tongue bracket has to be installed much further back on the Oliver the chains have to be extended. I was able to find the following information from Andersen (https://help.andersenhitches.com/faq/what-is-the-weight-rating-tensile-strength-of-the-wd-chain) on the chain strength: 3/8" zinc-plated chain Grade 30 commercial 2650 lbs minimum working load (sometimes called tensile strength) –with 4x breaking strength Minimum tensile of 55,000 p.s.i. -
POLL: Balance your trailer tires.
Ray Kimsey replied to John E Davies's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I didn't have them check the spare. I will probably remove it and have it checked sometime soon and if it is mounted like the other 4 and is better (needing less weight), I may just replace the bad one with the spare and use the current one as the spare. Does that sound reasonable? -
POLL: Balance your trailer tires.
Ray Kimsey replied to John E Davies's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Follow-up on the results of getting my tires balanced: So I took my Ollie (#676, October 2020 with the Cooper tires) to get the tires balanced this morning. The outcome was three of the tires were pretty good and only needed about an ounce, but the street-side rear needed a whopping 5 ounces. Probably explains why I was seeing a lot of issues with screws coming loose. -
POLL: Balance your trailer tires.
Ray Kimsey replied to John E Davies's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Did you hear anything from OTT? We picked ours up October 14 (hull 676) and ours were not balanced either. Are you able to pull your trailer to a tire dealership and have them balanced, or do you need to take the tires off the trailer and carry them to the tire store? -
The standard size that they install is a 2" ball.

POLL: Balance your trailer tires.
Ray Kimsey replied to John E Davies's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
We have a 2020 LE2 picked up in mid-October. No wheel weights were added so I am guessing they are not balanced. The tires are Cooper rather than Michelin so not sure if the new tire supplier made a difference in whether your tires were balanced. -
I had an issue getting it to pull mine also when the bottle of antifreeze was sitting on the ground. I moved the bottle up on top of the bumper and it worked great.

Retracting the Visio TV
Ray Kimsey replied to Ray and Susan Huff's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Hi, We just got back from a trip to FL and I am not sure you ever got an answer. If you didn't and it is still and issue, the way you lower the TV on th3 2020 is to push up on the TV a bit, then it will lower. -

It was the HD. Here is a link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-20-Pint-Dehumidifier-ADEL20LY/310574305 The price was 159.00

All the 2020's have an outlet there. I am not sure when it was added. The GE has a bucket and also the option to add a hose to have it drain. I am emptying mine every other day or so. I may shut it off when it gets colder. It becomes less effective below 41, but then the humidity usually drops when it gets that cold here. We are expecting our first freeze here next week. I think they are show 29 on Tuesday morning.

I purchased the Pro Breeze 2200 for ours, but it would not get the humidity down below 60%. So last week I went to the local big box and picked up a 20 pint GE dehumidifier. The GE is a bit large to carry along on trips, but I am happy to report for storage it is working great. I have it set to keep humidity down to 45%. It dropped the trailer to that in less than an hour. I have had a slightly larger GE in my workshop for about 4-5 years and it has worked continuously without problem, so that is the reason I tried another GE. I don't know how Western NC compares in humidity levels with Raleigh area. Hopefully, it is not as bad, but I am guessing it is probably the same. We will use the Pro Breeze when traveling.

AC power in trailer via shore power on Xantrex only
Ray Kimsey replied to Ray Kimsey's topic in General Discussion
It is possible but I don't think so. I have an electrician that has helped me out some. I am going to consult with him on the problem. I would like to use the troublesome outlet rather than the one I am using now. The good news is still no issues with the second one. I have been gone for several days and just got back today. I still want to study up some more on the whole electrical (AC / DC Xantrex) system more now that I am back. I much prefer understanding how everything works. Thank you for your thoughts and help. -

AC power in trailer via shore power on Xantrex only
Ray Kimsey replied to Ray Kimsey's topic in General Discussion
The difference is that I used a different outlet and a 10 ga drop cord rather than a 12ga. I think there were multiple issues going on. At first the GFCI circuit I used was acting fine and tested fine. Later in the day as time went on it started tripping almost as soon as I plugged the system in. The other outlet in the house was probably not a GFCI circuit. I think the 10 ga drop cord also helped with the occasional power drop. It has run fine now for almost 20 hours with no problems. -
AC power in trailer via shore power on Xantrex only

I think you are on it or close. Fortunately, I found the situation last night before the xantrex shut off. So the batteries got down to 11.5 volts. I immediately everything down at that point. -
AC power in trailer via shore power on Xantrex only
Ray Kimsey replied to Ray Kimsey's topic in General Discussion
In my case I may have multiple issues going on. After talking with Jason I purchased a larger (10 ga) drop cord and plugged it in to the outlet. That did not seem to help. The GFIC started tripping even more. Yesterday it did not trip at all. I tried moving the new power cord to a circuit inside the house and it seems to be working great over the past hour. My guess is the GFIC is bad and I will work on replacing that next week. In the meantime I am letting it run. Even with the Xantrex powered of with the buttons, it is still running and my best guess is that it must come on when shore power is found to give power to the AC outlets in the Ollie. I hope it would power itself off in the event of a loss of power or you could end up with the problem Mike mentioned earlier. Anyway, my situation seems to be improving! I will work on getting a dedicated circuit for the Ollie in the next week.
