  1. If you use a food scale on the road, you need one of these. If you're like me and weigh your coffee beans or weigh food for dietary needs, this little scale is awesome! I just might have to get another. When I ordered mine, I had to settle for Pea Green. The white will look much better in the Oliver Galley. I can always give the green model to one of my daughters-in-law. I'm kidding 😁
  2. Can you not use the onboard pump with the winterization intake port to sanitize the fresh tank?
  3. I think John is talking about retractable awnings over some of the windows? This would be nice on the street side, where there is no awning and I'm sure some clever person could figure a way to install one. The optional street side awning would be an alternative solution, but in addition, an awning over the rear window would be nice, if you spent a lot of time in hot sunny climates. When I questioned about awning type windows vs slide windows, someone (maybe Oliver) said the problem was finding them to fit the double hull construction. We have had both types of windows. I like the clean look of the frameless awning windows, but the sliding windows are much easier to open and close. However, it is nice to be able to have a window open when it is raining, but the maxx air hooded fans will allow for air circulation in that case. I'm not sure which type gives better ventilation.
  4. Our current RV has twin beds . . . . the same length as Oliver's, but 4" narrower. I was concerned that they would be too narrow. We then had the opportunity to see a twin Oliver in person and both of us felt they will be just fine - and my husband is over 6'. The only confining feature I could see is that the nightstand along with, as you mentioned, the curved corner, it would be tight for someone who likes to sleep on his back with this elbows out, hands behind head . . . . . that would be my husband; I don't know how he can sleep like that! Anyway, the remedy to that seems to be to sleep with your head toward the front (on the galley end of the bed). Works for watching TV, too! I was going to suggest you have Oliver find you a twin bed Oliver to tour, but if you are in Canada, that might not work. Maybe make an outline of the beds on the floor and put a box in between them to simulate the nightstand. It also helped me to look at pictures online of the interior with people in them. I found this one of a person lying on the twin bed; you get a better feel for the size. What amazed me, when we saw the Oliver in person, was the amount of interior storage. The overhead cabinets are much larger (deeper) than I had envisioned.
  5. We are patiently waiting for our 2021 Elite II Twin to be built, with delivery scheduled for early February. In the meantime . . . . . we are acquiring her, one piece at a time. In July, on our way to a family camp-out/bike ride in Central Oregon, we stopped in Redmond to pick up some cushions we purchased from a kind Oliver couple who had ordered a set of back cushions for one of their twin beds and found they don't use them enough to pack them around. Perfect, as I want to be able to convert the dinette into a sofa . . . . . . and the upholstery matches what we're ordering! Today, the "Big Brown Truck" delivered two pair of bottom sheets custom sized to fit the Oliver twin mattresses . . . . . . one more item to check off the list. I'm anxious to see what next month brings 📅
  6. We visited many of these places in May, 2019. Beautiful part of the country. I especially liked Valley of Fire, and the North Rim GC was spectacular (maybe not now since the fire). We did not get to spend much time in Utah, so plan to go back that way. Had hoped it to be this Spring (2020), but we all know how that turned out. The area around Sedona, Cottonwood, and Jerome were amazing as was Payson, AZ, and the Mongollon Rim. One of the highlights of the trip was camping two nights at Lee's Ferry right on the Colorado River. I had just finished reading the book, The Emerald Mile. An Interesting, true story, of the man who broke the Colorado River Run time (in a wooden Dory). Great read! https://grandcanyon.com/news/the-emerald-mile-fastest-through-grand-canyon/ I heard that that boat, named the Emerald Mile, is still hanging in a workshop somewhere, I think around Flagstaff.
  7. You get 35 mpg with a pickup? My BMW X5d can manage that (if I don't drive fast!) , but then it is newer so has a bunch of emissions "stuff", I'm sure. I once got 63 mpg in our F-350 diesel SD, but that was driving downhill, off Santiam Pass (Oregon). Looked good on the dash display, though :)
  8. We have a macerator on our small motorhome. It is a lot less messy than gravity dump. Did Oliver used to offer the macerator option? They don't now. Or did you add it DIY? I know this is an old post . . . . . maybe someone will comment 😇
  9. The second Oliver I've read that visited Dodge City. It's on my bucket list as my dad lived there as a young boy until dust pneumonia forced his family to move him to California. If not for the dust bowl, I wouldn't be . . . . . . . deep thought, I know. Anyway, I'm anxious to see where dad spent his boyhood, visit a museum and see what his life was like as a child.
  10. Things are much better for all when you leave out the middleman. Yes, he needs to make a living, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the manufacturer nor the buyer. Thank you, Oliver, for selling direct and having pride in your product.
  11. Welcome. We are still waiting for ours to be built. Let us know if you plan to be in Oregon so we can watch for you. We don't see many Olivers out here.
  12. Congratulations! Going from a tent to an Oliver. Great that you are beginning your RV life with such a quality trailer. We've deferred our delivery to early February. Were hesitant to drive across most of the US in the middle of Winter. February might still be dicey, but better than waiting for the Midwest tornadoes to start up. I agree, this is a great group and that says a lot for the Oliver brand!
  13. Used to be, here in the Pacific Northwest. Now, there is no "off season" . . . . . thanks to Covid 😠
  14. We have an F350 Super Duty Diesel supercab. What I really like is how quiet the engine is. You pull into the pump to fill up and people say, "Is that a diesel?"
  15. Thanks for sharing your New Oliver experience. I am jealous . . . . . . but our day will come . . . . . . 180 days and counting - that's less than 200 😁 I think I've asked before, so sorry if this is a repeat: What color are your graphics?
  16. Great info . . . . . appreciate your input. We already have many of the items on the Oliver Trailer Outfitters page 😖
  17. Thanks for the encouragement. Your mileage is a bit better than what we experienced towing the 5th-wheel, but then its GVW was 10,000# plus
  18. Good advice . . . . . fuel economy is big so best to stay with the tried and true, for now. Yes, I'm sure a 3/4 ton would be more comfortable on long trips. Another consideration: our pickup is already broken in - ie: scratches, etc. It would be hard to take a new, shiny pickup some of the places we like to explore 😀
  19. A cursory search found no posts related to towing with a long bed crew cab, so here's my question: We currently own a 2013 F-350 Super Duty (diesel) 4wd long bed crew cab that we purchased as a work truck for our ranch and to tow a 30' 5th-wheel. Since then we traded the trailer for a B+ class motorhome, but kept the F-350 as we needed it for hauling hay, equipment and towing a large utility trailer. It has been a great pickup; no mechanical issues whatsoever and gets great MPG - 15-20 mpg highway and 12 mpg towing the 5th-wheel. The pickup has relatively low miles at 50,000 and is fully depreciated as a farm expense. We hate to trade a perfectly good pickup for a new, smaller one, mainly because we know ours works and it has fewer electronic/computer controlled components, (although what can a person do on today's engines, aside from changing the oil and adding fluids?), than a newer model. That being said, a 1-ton Super Duty is a definitely a bit of overkill for towing a 7,000# trailer. We might still have an occasional need to tow a substantial load with our utility trailer, but two of our sons have pickups that we can use (payback for the times they have borrowed ours). My thought is that a smaller tow vehicle might be in our future for towing the Elite II we have ordered, but we don't want an additional vehicle to maintain and insure (one of the reasons we are getting rid of the MH). We do still want the crew cab for the extra passenger capacity and inside storage, and 4wd is essential. The engine type/size is negotiable. I welcome comments from anyone who has towed an Elite II with something this size. Do you find the length prohibitive? (My husband is a retired milk truck driver, so towing and maneuvering any length is a piece of cake). To those who have towed with smaller pickups, would we gain much in fuel economy by trading down to say a 3/4-ton?
  20. Thanks for the info Did you purchase the 10' cord from Oliver or elsewhere? Cost?
  21. I envy you your 3 hr. drive to Hohenwald. We will be traveling from the Pacific Northwest the first part of February to pick up our LEII. 2,500+ miles - 40 hrs on the road, barring bad weather. An adventure we are looking forward to 👀
  22. I would be concerned about headroom while lounging on the twin bed in a sitting position. Is there enough clearance to not bump your head on the overhead compartments?
  23. Welcome! . . . . . . May delivery makes our February delivery seem just around the corner!
  24. I think this is part of the cause of being "really busy". More people are purchasing RVs for travel, in lieu of cruises, flying, etc. because of the pandemic uncertainties. With more mass produced RVs being sold, more people will realize the quality of such units and will be looking for something better. I only hope Oliver does not allow increased production to undermine their reason for building Oliver trailers - quality and service.
