Another Andersen WDH idea
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to Nick and Linda Stratigakis's topic in Ollie Modifications
I changed tow vehicles in March and had Anderson installed at factory during annual maintenance. We are on the tail end of 7000 plus miles. After installation my thread count was the same on both sides. I noticed recently one chain had some sag to it. I looked at frame mounts and measured from rear cross joins and the brackets differ by about an inch. Maybe shifted during towing? I will adjust. What torque should the bracket bolts be? In the meantime, as long as tension in both chains is similar and taut, hitch will still perform desired function? -
Truma Water Heater Recall
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to aaronorange's topic in General Discussion
They replaced my burner during annual maintenance visit in early March. I had scheduled this service in early February, and they set aside a burner for me. Hoping things are ok in Hohenwald. -
We are currently camping at Mt Madonna County Park near Santa Cruz. Our plans to visit Yosemite were derailed by snow at elevation. We visited Santa Cruz today and will go to Monterey on this stop. Some lovely hikes in park too. From here we will venture to Marin County north of San Francisco for a couple of days to visit my brother-in-law who is a golf course architect and has a job there. Thinking of taking the 101 north from there to Redwoods and into Oregon. Any thoughts on pulling Ollie up that route? Redwoods camping is booked so we would welcome any other ideas.

To Central Texas from Central Arizona the Slow Way
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to jd1923's topic in Campgrounds & Parks
@jd1923 We are in Alamogordo and planning to head to Cottonwood via 260. I plan to call Ranger Station but was curious if you think this camping will be accessible? -
Catalina is a beautiful park for sure. Those Oro Valley sunsets from the park are amazing. We stayed there in March 2023 and 2024. In 2023, we arrived just after the entry road reopened from a flooding event. In 2024, we were in the park and had park host informed us the road had flooded and we had to stay another two night or two. Darn 🤞

Can confirm. Spoke with Jason today regarding service on March 11-12. He has a burner set aside for me. -
Oregon and Washington

Steens Moutain sounds amazing. I am guessing inaccessible in mid-April when we plan to visit? What other must-sees will be unavailable at that time? -
Wondering if any other owners are considering the new Dodge Ramcharger option for towing their Olivers? On paper sounds pretty good with towing capacity up to 14,000 pounds and 2600 lb cargo capacity. Range is over 100 miles on electric only almost 700 miles using gas, although surely less for both towing. 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Hybrid: What We Know So Far

Truma has QC issues….
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to Galileo's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I scheduled my annual maintenance with Oliver factory in early March. My Truma serial number falls within recall range so I mentioned this to Jason when scheduling. He said Oliver will replace my Truma burner unit during maintenance visit. He did say they currently do not have any Truma burner assemblies in stock and don't expect any until early March. -
I find if I twist mine it makes it more taut and doesn't hang so low. Same for chains. I've always worried low hanging chains and brake cable could create a spark and possibly fire in dry conditions.

Model Year Changes - 2020 to 2023/2024
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to Ralph Mawyer's topic in Ollie Modifications
@HDRider FWIW there are 16 zerks on my 2022 #1047. There are two on each side where suspension attaches to frame that are easy to miss. -
I just had my freshwater tank intake plumbing out while trying to identify a pressure loss issue. On my 2022, this is 1/2" PVC that bends inside the tank at is cut at a 45 degree angle and as @MAX Burner stated enters the tank though a threaded fitting. I did not see a screen on the end when I had it out. Maybe mine has fallen off?

Thanks for all the input. I did try the opening and closing valves one at a time to bleed air. Also tried city water hook up. I tried pulling water in from boondocking port. No draw from that connection either (with valves in boondocking configuration). Put in a ticket with Oliver and sent video. Mike responded promptly and said likely pump and or accumulator. I replaced both. Still no draw from fresh tank but it did pull water from boondocking port. Progress! I checked all connections between fresh tank and pump. I had an air leak at connection where water line comes out of fresh tank. Pump failure was from us leaving pump on overnight while parked on a slight decline with very little water in fresh tank. We stayed in their house so did not notice until morning. We have named this O-squared E. Oliver-Operator-Error.😁

Looking good. I totally agree with @MAX Burner Starlink is a game-changer. Based on second picture, your tow vehicle might need some attention before heading out! 🤪 -
Electrical Awning reinforcement
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to rich.dev's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I recall a previous post that some folks use cargo straps and tent stakes for securing the awning. We were in Chaco Canyon recently enjoying the awning shade when the wind suddenly picked up dramatically. The Girard auto-retract did work but I popped up and grabbed the awning to stabilize it. Had we not been sitting under it, it may have done some damage. -
Thank for the input. @dewdev was correct, pump replacement did not fix issue. I put in a ticket with Oliver and sent Mike video of flow. He said I will need to go to a service center for further troubleshooting. I am currently on the road so trying to figure out on my own. I did some additional testing and can't get water from the freshwater tank or from boondocking port (with valves configured for boondocking). I have removed and cleaned all fittings from water tank to pump. No leaks found. I isolated and drained Truma Aquago. Looking at manual @topgun2 recommended, I confirmed valve configuration. I see check valves at freshwater tank fill and city water inlets. Could a failure of one of these cause air leak and pressure failure? How do I access these to check or bypass?

Our DC water pump failed while on the road. It turns on but loses pressure pretty quickly. After spigot is turned off, the pump continues to run for about a minute. I cleaned the screen before the pump and same behavior. I have received a replacement pump. Questions: Is there a valve configuration to run city water with pump disconnected? Can the accumulator fail too (I only ordered the pump? Oliver pump says max 10 volts but has a 15 volt fuse? Thanks for any guidance.

You need a neutral ground plug like this one https://www.amazon.com/Southwire-Company-LLC-44400-Generator/dp/B07F4R7BDL/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1U28YA880VP37&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.I-pLsdfsMyYCXEnn08O01KLUWNGgc26-op4qZF23eekGNYeLblqAXvM7jvBKtuyHFrxtHpXL5f6cL8FSi43Z7i0-Ghxnmndu2ScDGmdjoijtou40TOc4LQdmFPl_YTpxWreQi_NPNlG_7bxGLMmP5WcTg-GKlhR9MhCt0RYGTgW1t8Eh9g5AVLeSX4ubHy4QUgnhQ6LxszOW4yIDEK1R4Cc6DfCqmaDugvAB7mSsIRc.dTWhDb8tlbu6JiBaZ1olHYxHljGMDsnniRy5XQOetGk&dib_tag=se&keywords=generator+neutral+ground+bonding+plug&qid=1712764295&sprefix=generator+neutr%2Caps%2C317&sr=8-4

File this under the "you never know category." We are currently in Catalina State Park in Arizona. Park host came by today to inform us that the wash was running and the road out and in from the park is closed until further notice. Some folks went for it and left. We took it as a sign and are waiting it out , comfy and cozy with plenty of food and water.🤓

Made in USA leaf springs
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to Mountainman198's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Well Oliver gang, as usual, this forum has provided not only a fundamental understanding of the spring issue but options for mitigation and replacement. Hull #1047 will be sauntering soon with anticipated travel of 5000 miles including the daunting road to Chaco Canyon. Planning and executing @Geronimo John -
Yet another option for your Starlink Cable
DaveAndBecky_NorthernMI replied to AlbertNTerri's topic in Ollie Modifications
Nice setup. I like how you can stow away enough cable for both the roof top mount and the flag pole option. I am thinking of a similar setup for my Starlink and also mounting cellular antenna.
