    Same here.  So far, during this year's outings we've never had to fire up the EU2000 because the 200w suitcase (and 340w rooftop array) gets the BBs well into the 90% SOC by keeping the suitcase aimed slightly ahead of the sun.

    We're planning a late DEC trip to Dallas in a week or so, with low sun angles and possible cloudy WX - the EU2000 may "see the light of day" finally...  We'll keep y'all posted.

    OBTW:  We spent a week in P-cola in SEP, we'll always love that place!  We've got many friends that went to NG (Bethpage, NY facility) BITD, FYI.

    Been through Patrick many times back in the day when it was an AFB!  Passed through there during a spring break once - that's a very interesting downwind leg over the beach with all the coeds, if you catch my drift.   Lucky draw on your seaside site at the "space port"...

  5. OFFICIAL SPECIAL HOLIDAY NOTICE:  

    D and I are happy to inform the Oliver Family that we'll be receiving an extra special Christmas Cheer this year.   Our eldest daughter, Meghan and our son-in-law, Clayton are expecting their first (and our first grandchild) on 25DEC!  We'll be leaving a week prior with Casa Blanca to the Dallas area and await the arrival...  Very exciting holiday this year for us!  We hope ya'll's will be exciting as well!

  6. FYI:  IMO, the Anderson connectors are superior to SAE types.  They "clean" themselves with each connect/disconnect action - better connectivity.

    Victron and Renogy components are our "go-to" off-grid power manufacturers, so far, they play well together....

    Zamp is a known quantity - but we've not had 100% confidence in their products from our experience.  Take that for what its worth, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with either Victron or Renogy gear.

    True statement, @Ollie-Haus: However, the only slight exception would be those that run a Victron Smart Shunt 712, in those cases, the negative lead from the aux solar connection goes to the SS (then to the battery bank) so the shunt can keep track of the current generated by the suitcase solar modules.

  8. D and I've been talking about this move for some time now.  OTT, as a business, does well in their strategic planning, IMO.  The move to incorporate selected dealerships appears to be a timely move, considering the current market.  

    Although it was very cool to explain to our SOB RV friends that one needs to buy an Oliver direct from the factory because of the dearth of dealerships, this will now change.  No biggie.  The Airstream dealership model is similar in our experience.  For example, our friends recently had undergone extensive hail damage to their new rig - the local dealer had to refer them back to the Airstream factory because several adjacent panels needed R&R; a job local dealers aren't equipped for.

    I suspect the OTT dealership model would be similar and the choice to head back to TN for such repairs will always be the owner's.

    FWIW: we look forward to a full-service dealership (OTT-trained and qualified techs) that's a much shorter run than the 1,200-mile trek from our home to Hohenwald.

  9. FYI:  After reading @Patriot's post here:

    Atwood CO detector  alarmed 

    ...David's description of the alarm failure during their "Great SW USA Trip" got our attention.  Our sensor has alarmed several times during this past season (usually around Zero-dark- thirty) so we checked the vintage of our 2017 Hull #226's alarm manufacture date.  It  was a 2016 unit (7+ years in service)...  

    So, just to play it safe, a few taps on the laptop and Amazon shoots us a new "RV Safe CO/LPG" sensor in a couple days - just like @topgun2 described in one of his posts.  The new unit came with a mfg date of MAY23 - so, entered accordingly into the Casa Blanca logbook!  OBTW: the new sensor is a relatively "cheap date".  

    Since we don't winterize - there's no anti-freeze fumes to deal with - but, there have not been any false alarms to report since we installed the new unit in October.  Could there be a chemical reaction happening between fiberglass off-casing, LPG fumes, and/or residual CO from galley usage?  That question's WAY above my pay grade...

    However, peace of mind... established, again - for awhile. 🤪

    Our understanding of the SmartShunt's contribution to the overall charging/discharging system is to measure and report via the Victron Connect App or the Victron GSX what EMF (maybe not the correct technical term) or power is either being consumed or charged into the BBs.  Don't think the SS regulates various incoming amperages...  

    Pls correct if wrong.  Just a dump fighter pilot as described above by @Geronimo John

    With full understanding of what "highjacking a post" means, and risking getting hammered for this post - but @Ronbrink reminded me of my old handmade meerschaum pirate pipe I acquired in Istanbul decades ago...  Now I need some good tobacco to go with the Oliver!

    We don't use the City Water port.  

    That said, we typically use the adjacent Fresh Water port to fill the 32-gallon fresh water tank.  Using an inline filter and flow meter (indicates how much water we've been using*), we'll fill the fresh tank until we notice water draining from the street side over-flow outlet.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe this causes any dangerous over-pressure in the system.

    *Flow Meter:  when the SeeLevel gauge shows single digit levels of water (5% is the lowest we've seen with zero water available in tank) the max onboarding water volume indicated on the meter is about 27 gallons.  This verifies that the OTT 32-gallon tank provides only 27 gallons usable without the fresh water tank modification described in other posts.
