  1. [postquote quote=179016][/postquote] Agree with Bill, I don’t think any cutting is necessary. Mine certainly wasn’t. You just need to get underneath to attach the brackets. Mike
  2. [postquote quote=178944][/postquote] We had a local graphic artist do the design. We told her what we were thinking and she did a few designs. We refined one of them to what we have now. She provided a digital file and a local print shop printed the big graphic for the front and some smaller ones for whatever. Mike
  3. When we’re with FHU we let the gray tank fill before draining. It’s usually also when we dump the black. The gray provides a rinse. I wouldn’t want the gray to be continuously open because I don’t want my basement open all the time. We have dumped the gray independent of the black if we’re showering a lot. I usually raise the front of the trailer a bit when draining the tanks, especially when we’re leaving the campground. Mike
  4. We had a problem with water flow to the toilet. We happened to be on our way to Tennessee for some upgrades when it happened. The service guys found hard water deposits where the hose connects to the toilet preventing flow. We have been using a water softener since. We’ve been to some remote campgrounds that I’m sure had some pretty hard water. Mike
  5. Congratulations and welcome to the family. We’re just down the road a bit from you. We go through Marble Falls whenever we head north, it’s a beautiful area. Mike
  6. I have not, but am considering the upgrade. Bill J. (topgun2) has upgraded. I’m sure he’ll weigh in. Mike
  7. Congratulations! Another Oliver on the road - enjoy! Mike
  8. John, thanks. As we discussed, it was an inexpensive mod that works well for what I needed it to do. Having all the chocks, blocks, etc right there makes set up much easier. Mike
  9. I also had a site at Davis Mountain State Park that was bad. I ended up parking a bit sideways to make it work. One thing to add to your chocks and blocks is an x-chock that fits between the wheels when up on legos or wood. Mike
  10. Congratulations! Have you tried adjusting the level to see if the bubble comes back? The screws around it are to adjust the level, I have to readjust ours every so often. Level the trailer with another level and then adjust to put the bubble in the middle. I use a small level under the seam between the top and bottom hulls around the outside. Good luck! Mike
  11. Thanks for posting this, good info for those of us with Blue Sky solar. Mike
  12. Ed and Nancy, welcome! We were like you, new to the RV world. That was four years ago and we’ve come a long way - and you will too. Ask any questions as you get settled in and enjoy your new Oliver! Mike
  13. [postquote quote=176982][/postquote] Ken, we love it when you guys come to Texas - the temperature always drops 30 degrees no matter what time of year! Mike
  14. [postquote quote=176946][/postquote] This is what we use. They also have screens for the furnace. Mike
  15. It’s good to see resolution to this issue. I’m sure there are others, like me, who have been following and learning. Issues like this result in better knowledge and greater confidence. It also helps to have so many smart folks willing to jump in and help. Mike
  16. [postquote quote=176829][/postquote] This what I did. I got mine off Amazon for a little over $100. I carry chocks, blocks, gloves, flashlight and an old towel in it.
  17. Welcome! Check the classifieds, Raspy has your trailer.
  18. I’ve seen a couple of variations on this idea, these look like they would do a good job. The interesting question as John alluded to is how did you hang them? Hooks over the door or hooks stuck to the inside of the door? Thanks for sharing - folks are always looking to increase their storage! Mike
  19. Buddha and Buffy, welcome! Like Pete and Bosker we’re just down the road in Fair Oaks Ranch, too. We were in Fredericksburg last week picking up wine from Becker Vineyards. If you have questions we’d be happy to help. Mike
  20. [postquote quote=176265][/postquote] That’s a great question, I should have explained why my tires aren’t chocked - at this site we were just overnighting and I did not have to unhitch from the truck. You can see in the picture my Andersen chains are still tight. Before I unhitch at a site we always chock the tires. Both sides. Also, if I have to drive up on legos, the standard wedge type chocks aren’t as effective so I have one of those “between the tires” or x-chock devices. Some are quite expensive. I got the inexpensive Camco plastic one that works fine. Another Walmart item. You can see them in this photo:
  21. We’ve tried several methods. We started using scrap 2X6 pieces for leveling and under the jacks. Here’s what we’ve settled on: We use the front jack to level front to back. The back jacks are for fine tuning left and right. We bought two sets of the yellow lego’s (12” square) at Walmart. There are 10 in each set. I also made some blocks out of 2X6 lumber, much like Bill pictured above. If we aren’t level left to right we use the legos under the tires to get near level. Then we stack legos under the back jacks so that the wood blocks are just an inch or so below the jack, same for the front jack. We usually don’t have to have more than a few inches of jack travel. It’s quick and easy. The plastic isn’t affected by water and keeps the wood up off the ground.
  22. We stayed at Red Rock Canyon State Park last year. It’s conveniently located just south of I-40 at Hinton, OK. Unless they’ve really hiked prices it would still be a nice place to stay. The Ultimate Public Campground app still has it as a state park. I’ll shoot them an email to update their database. We occasionally stay at KOA for convenience or if we need FHU, not really our style but nice to have when needed!
  23. I can’t turn mine by hand. I’ve never had an issue hooking back up (40K+ miles). As stated before, you need to try to back to the hitch at the same angle you were when you unhitched. Connect the bulldog to the ball, then raise everything up until the truck raises a bit. Hook up the triangle plate, lower and go. All you need is that small amount of slack to get the plate aligned, even if you’re slightly off on your angle.
  24. I’ve got the same truck, same specs and use the Andersen. No issues. Mike
