Other uses for Black Tank with composting toilet
Overland replied to NCeagle's topic in General Discussion
I'd think a better option for pee would be to just buy an extra bottle. But we've never found disposal to be difficult. With the kitchen water, aren't you just trading one yucky tank for another? Or realistically, adding a second one? Personally, I think the fewer things to keep clean the better. I still think the best use of the black tank is to cut it out for storage space. No regrets here. -
Just getting everything in your head so you're not drowning in a sea of wiring connections. Q: Are you buying the batteries directly from Lithionics or through Oliver? I didn't think that Lithionics would sell to the public. May I ask how much?

May I recommend the Victron MultiPlus over the Xantrex? It's less than $300 more and will give you a true hybrid inverter/charger, 3000 watts, and would cover the biggest expense in creating a full Victron network, with all the bells and whistles that entails.

An induction cooktop was in fact a brief option at one time though I donāt know if anyone ever ordered it. This was before lithium batteries and of course the larger inverter. We considered it but ultimately decided that the combination of a gas cooktop plus a portable induction burner was the better option. However at the time, we were turned off by the quality of the more affordable portable units and opted to wait for the price of the better ones to come down. Still waiting. But while we were waiting we realized that with the larger propane tanks, we can go for weeks even in mid winter running the furnace. We also learned just how much of a battery suck our toaster oven is, and I assume an induction burner would be the same. So induction isnāt really something on our list anymore, except that theyāre just cool and Iād like to have one for the house at some point, just to have. Heres a thread from way back then discussing the benefits of induction -

Those boards are glued to the hull with a very strong epoxy that should take a team of elephants to pull loose. Impossible within the confines of the trailer. Iād say that itās definitely an installation error and frankly I think itās one that Oliver should see gets fixed at no cost to you. Iād call them and see if they can give you the specs on the adhesive and also a recommendation on where to have the repair made. Having said that, Iāve had good luck securing things to the hull using 3M marine adhesive, probably the 5200 for something like this. I donāt quite follow about the shelf under the bed, but Iām curious. What exactly are you thinking about doing?

How to add forums signature maps.
Overland replied to JWalmsley's topic in How to Join and Use Oliver Travel Trailer Forums
As a reminder, please be considerate and do not choose a map size larger than medium. Actually, because so many people view the site from their phone, the smallest size is preferable, and is perfectly viewable. Some of the maps I'm seeing lately are literally the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper on my monitor. We all like seeing where you've been, but no one is *that* interested. The pull down menu to choose your map size is located right above the button to create your map. -
Excellent - thanks!

I doubt if any of the front marker lights would be connected to the attic bus bar in the back. I think JRK is referring specifically to the big āOliverā light on the back of the trailer. More likely the light that youāre having trouble with is hooked to the main bus under the pantry/dinette. Thatās a ~6ā long aluminum bus bar on the very bottom under the dinette seat with a ton of yellow wires attached: Iād check those connections but also there should be a round access hatch in the closet to access that light, so check the connection there too. Should be noted that you can overtighten the screws on those bus bars, cutting the wires; so donāt go crazy tightening all the screws. Just snug enough that the wire doesnāt pull out.

@Landrover Iām pretty sure that this is going to be a problem with the Member+ group, but weāll see once Jason checks it. I think when he created that group, all of the settings didnāt get duplicated - there were earlier, more obvious issues when he first set it up, but this one is more subtle. Thanks for bringing it up and hopefully Jason can get it corrected shortly.

Given the choice, Iād want lever nuts everywhere on my trailer. The ease with which you can diagnose a bad connection and then fix it is a real benefit. And Iāve never heard of any reliability issues, so really the only drawback is that the installer may not know how or take the time to insert the wires properly, which of course can be a problem. For example, the two outside wires in the photo above are clearly not inserted properly. Itās an easy fix - just lift the lever and fully push the wire in, but itās troubling that whomever made that connection either didnāt take the half second to check it or was too lazy or rushed to fix it. But I wouldnāt blame the connector for that. The same person could just as easily have botched a crimped connection, which you would then probably only be able to diagnose with a multimeter.

HOW TO: Build or shorten a battery cable
Overland replied to John E Davies's topic in Ollie Modifications
Good video - the hex crimpers are definitely worth it, even for a small project. I also tried to take a lug off and you're correct, the only way it's coming off is to cut it. If done correctly, everything will be fused together - like putting pennies on a train track.
