David, Thanks, We only use de-humidfiers when we're camping and don't have power in the hangar to run them while Ollie is stored. Can't give you a good reading on how long it takes to fill the tanks while camping because I always dump them when they are less than full. The 5 day number sounds right! Bill

We store Ollie in an airplane hangar with one side open in the hangar (no power in the hangar) leaving the bath and Maxxair vents open (not running), unless wet weather is moving in and then close the vents temporarily until the weather has passed. We also keep the refrigerator and bathroom doors open with open boxes of baking soda in the refrigerator and camper. We like the Pro Breeze de-humidifier, too. While camping sometimes condensation can be found between the hulls on the inside of the outer hull around the rear and Oliver sign area. Decided to use two Pro-Breeze de-humidifiers while camping placing one in the overhead compartment next to the Oliver sign and one on the kitchen counter. Just made this modification last week, decided to install two vents on the bulkheads next to the rear Oliver sign to allow a little more air flow between the hulls attempting to reduce condensation. Will see how it works.

Fine article. Coincidentally thinking about why Ollie is so pleasant to camp in this morning while getting ready to tow Ollie. The Oliver brothers had a great vision on what a camper should be!

3Way Refrigerator Fan - Advice/Photos Please
rideandfly replied to Wandering Sagebrush's topic in General Discussion
Replaced the aluminum tape on our Ollie's three/way fridge a few years ago using the existing curved aluminum plate as seen in Topgun's photo. -
Talked to the race car shop this morning and he can weld Ollie's frame later this week or next week. He wanted to know what kind of aluminum Ollie's frame was made out of, so I contacted Oliver service department this morning and Mike replied quickly this morning letting me know it's made out of 6061 aluminum. The race car shop was very happy to hear Ollie's frame is made out of a very good quality of aluminum. 🙂

I'm going to drop by the race car shop this week. Plan to have it welded. As mentioned previously, everyone Ollie owner should inspect their frames. Mine should not be a difficult repair, just need to find a good aluminum welder. If you are close to TN, Oliver is still doing fiberglass and aluminum repairs. 🙂

Found a cracked weld under the water heater yesterday, believe it's same area as Routlaw's weld break. There's a local race car shop that's done work for me in the past that has a very talented welder. Will give them a call. Our Ollie is 2015 #75 LE2. Running 45PSI in the tires, dropping tires to 40psi this year, and always travel with empty fresh, black and grey water tanks. 99% of travel is on pavement. First owner never ran more than 50psi in the tires and we are second owners.

Is this the Loctite product you're using? https://www.loctiteproducts.com/en/products/build/sealants/loctite_pl_marinefastcureadhesivesealant.html Yes, it is. Thanks! -

Is this the Loctite product you're using? https://www.loctiteproducts.com/en/products/build/sealants/loctite_pl_marinefastcureadhesivesealant.html Going to try ASI 0240 for caulk removal, too. I'm like some others here and have much to be desired in the artistic application skills. But with Ollie, learning daily. 🙂 Like always, appreciate the knowledge folks share here. Really appreciated the information shared on fiberglass surface preparation for belly band installation, too. -
When I installed suspension wet pins and bronze bushings on another forum member's Legacy Elite a few years ago, found several welds cracked, not broken. He took his Ollie back to Oliver and they welded the cracked areas without any additional problems to my knowledge.

Thanks for the photos!

routlaw, Sent you a private message with my email address. I cannot add photos to the forum by uploading at this time. If you still can't post photos, you can email your photos to me, will post them using Smugmug. I also want to see your frame photos. Test photo with Smugmug:

When painting our 2015 LE2 7000# BD hitch, always tape over the hitch label. In addition to the towing capacity label also shows maximum hitch tongue weight.

Called Dexter with axle ID information from the following "How do I identify my axle?" link and they sent a build sheet. https://www.dexteraxle.com/Contact/FAQ/Axles Here's the axle build sheet they emailed for our 2015 LE2. -

Always liked the idea of having Legacy Elite 5200 pound capacity axles and 5 leaf spring packs on our 2015 LE2 because Oliver ran out of 3500 pound axles during manufacture installing larger Legacy Elite axles & spring packs like ScubaRX mentioned earlier. The 5200 pound axles have larger bearings and brakes, too. I'm currently running 45PSI in the 225/75R16 tires on our Ollie with the idea of smoothing out the ride with higher capacity springs, like Mountainman198 mentioned, too. Someone on this forum posted this air pressure chart in another thread. This chart is not very large, sorry about that. -

John, Our 2015 LE2 #75 has 5200 pound axles and springs. Understand at the time Oliver ran out of 3500 pound axles, so Legacy Elite axles/springs were installed on our Ollie. 99% highway use with no spring issues. Here's the springs on our Ollie: -

Faraday pouches for Tow Vehicle key fobs.
rideandfly replied to Patriot's topic in General Discussion
Conducted a test with our 2022 Tundra's FOB this morning. Our Faraday pouch has not arrived yet, probably later today. Started vehicle with FOB turned on by pressing brake and start/stop button. Turned FOB off with engine running by placing in "battery save mode" by simultaneously pressing/holding FOB lock button and pressing unlock button twice, then drove 8 miles with no issues with FOB off. Turned vehicle off by pressing/start stop button with FOB still off. Tried to restart by pressing brake and start/stop button and vehicle would not restart with FOB off. Intentionally locked FOB in vehicle using door lock button on door and doors stayed locked, vehicle did not automatically unlock doors with FOB in vehicle as long as FOB was in "battery save mode" or off. Used Debbie's FOB to unlock vehicle, then placed her FOB back in the house to finish testing. Placed my FOB in my pocket locking vehicle with lock button on door, could not unlock doors or tailgate with FOB still in "battery save mode" in my pocket. There are more test I could conduct, but no extra time today. Learned I only needed the FOB to start the vehicle. Using FOB's metal key can unlock vehicle without using FOB electronically. When FOB is in "battery save mode" it can be turned back on by pressing any FOB button. Guessing most manufacturers have a mode similar to Toyota's "battery save mode" -

The function shown in the above video in the Toyota manual is the “battery save mode” that reduces FOB battery discharge and vehicle battery discharge until any key is pressed on the FOB. Our vehicle also has this as an automatic function when the vehicle sits for more than five days and several other situations to reduce FOB battery depletion and vehicle battery depletion. The manual states “When battery-saving mode is set, battery depletion is minimized by stopping the electronic key from receiving radio waves.” It looks like as mentioned in the above video at the end using “battery save mode” function and a Faraday pouch is a good way to minimize vehicle theft. -

The same guy in the first video made a later video about securing vehicle using FOB to lock vehicle. Just tried this function by holding FOB lock button and pressing unlock button twice at same time. Cannot open the door using the door handle with the FOB in my pocket. Going to study the operators manual to learn more about this feature, will call dealership if additional information is not in my manual. Edit: Just tested our 2022 Tundra sitting in the drivers seat. Locked doors with FOB holding lock button while pressing unlock button twice. The start button will not start vehicle with brake pedal pressed until unlocking vehicle with FOB. Will learn more about this feature. Probably available on many late model vehicles. -

Sorry about Non-Faraday cage related content, but still security related. Believe it could be easy to find out where the Bluetooth signal is coming from by walking by campers and looking at bars of Bluetooth signal. In the case of Victron my shunt works with various types of batteries, so your PW is needed to identify type of battery in a camper, original default PW can be used to look at type of battery by anyone, don't know about other Bluetooth apps. Can't wait to test the Faraday Pouches tomorrow! 🙂 -

When I tested the metal box lined with aluminum foil, the lid was also lined with aluminum foil with overlap of foil from the lid and box. A few years ago my testing was with a cell phone's ability to receive calls and messages while in a unlined metal box that failed, but with aluminum foil liner the phone could not receive calls and messages. Not sure if that test is relevant with a FOB, but that was my test a few years ago. One of the things that got me thinking about this again (not Faraday cage related) while on a camping trip last January, I could pick up someone's Victron Bluetooth signal (guessing 50' away) with my Victron Shunt app. Highly recommend using a different PW other than the original multiple 0 PW with the Victron app.
