To Central Texas from Central Arizona the Slow Way
srthomsen replied to jd1923's topic in Campgrounds & Parks
Excellent! Question for you; how did you find the city parks that you did stay at? Were they 'listed' somewhere OR, did you just run an internet search for towns on your route and investigate from there? City halls ??? Chambers of Commerce ??? -
Re the 30# propane tanks vis-a-vis the Elite. The Elite will not carry the 30# tanks in the factory front mounting location. They also are not an option on the Elite

We have a 2023 Elite (the 'baby' Oliver) and we sometimes carry a generator depending on where we will be staying. We use a Firman 3242 dual fuel invertor generator that we bought at Costco about a year before we bought our Oliver. It has supplied the power necessary to run the entire trailer with no issues at all. It is a bit heavy though & runs a bit loud for my tastes but so far, we haven't had to use it too often.

Golfnut, which one did you purchase? Amazon.com : dozyant 12 ft rv propane quick connect hose

We prchased a 17" Blackstone griddle about a year ago and are / were planning to take it with us soon on a trip HOWEVER, we've discovered that the hose purchased on-line is not equipped with the proper fitting to connect at the griddle itself. The hose fitting that plugs into the Oliver port is correct. Its the fitting on the Blackstone end that is improper. This is a link to what I believe is necessary. IF SO, do you have a preferred supplier or might Amazon be as good as anyone else ? Amazon.com: Eazy2hD 7FT RV Quick Connect Propane Hose with Propane Elbow Adapter Fitting RV Quick-Connect Kit, Low Pressure Propane Extension Hose for Blackstone 17"/22" Griddle : Patio, Lawn & Garden Oh Yeah! Any tips for seasoning the griddle or should we just follow the Blackstone instructions provided with the griddle? Cheers

That reminds me! I have one of those that 'escaped' that I have to re-apply.

It does work for both. I always keep our truck keys with me when leaving the trailer but never carry the trailer key with me. Guess I need to get into the habit of doing that. Hint to self: Hit up Home Depot for some spare batteries too!

How long should it take the A/C to get cold inside in hot temps?
srthomsen replied to trekhard's topic in General Discussion
We were in Floresville, Texas last summer at a BMX event and the daytime temps (real temps. not "feels like" temps!) while there did not drop below 109 degrees during the day. We have a small 2023 Elite with the Truma Aventa A/C system and after arrival that first afternoon it cooled the trailer down in about 25 minutes to a nice comfortable 79 degrees. During the following three days the interior temp never rose to above 80 degrees. It worked flawlessly. -

An Elite 1 is what I we have also. Been liesurely tracing this problem for a while. I did find one wire very loose at the switch on the back wall & fixed that but no luck there. I've found that I have power to the fuse box but I stopped at that point not wanting to start tracing the wiring in some extremely cramped areas. My aversion to electricity ( I can't see it!) has dampened my enthusiasm. I'll have to find my get up and go and start looking again.

Were you able to or, did you take any pics of the terminal block / relay that you found to be the issue?

Definately different. Looks like a big bunch of wind resistance to haul around too.

Bulldog coupler recall for some LE2s
srthomsen replied to Steph and Dud B's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
We don't have an Elite II but I went out to check on the unit that we have on our 2023 #1403 Elite and found that our trailer is equipped with a 2" ball 7000# coupler. -
I like the idea but it seems that just looking at this picture with my tired eyes; there are as many pivot points as with the OE set-up. Maybe more.

and who sets the standards? -
If you run the palm of your hand over the tread area can you feel somewhat regularly spaced areas that seem to be lower (cupped) than areas adjacent? If so then I would suspect a worn or defective shock absorber (damper) or an extremely unbalanced tire/wheel assembly. This does not address the somewhat uniform tread wear around the outside edge of the tire. If you can, grab a level that is at least as long as the tire is tall and place it vertically against the tire aligned along an axis that travels through the centerline of the wheel hub. Does the 'level' check indicate if the top of the tire is leaning out or in? If, to achieve a level (plumb) reading, you have to bring the bottom of the level out away from the trailer then that likely signifies that the axle or spindle is bent along the vertical axis for what ever reason. This would concentrate wear around the outer edge of the tire. A worn or loose bearing assembly would typically show wear aong the inner edge of the tire. Another possibility is that the axle or spindle is bent along the horizontal axis and that could show as increased or abnormal tread wear at either the inner or outer tread area around the circumference however this type of wear will likely add another measure of wear to the tread that usually presents itself by exhibiting a feathering of the tread blocks. Now that said; as other have mentioned, check your wheel bearings and have the rig aligned by a professional. Sorry for the long read!

We were up in that area (Cayucos) in October for 7 days. So. it wasn't us! 2023 Elite # 1403

That is / was my first thought too. It will likely be what I use when I get the replacement "O" ring(s).
