Snackchaser Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Two of my least favorite things about the Oliver are the awning that can’t be used in the rain and the floppy/noisy bathroom door. I’ve long wanted to replace the door with a wooden one, but being a custom furniture maker, wifey has forbidden it because that's what I always do. No more wood! She just wants to keep with the shiny modern look for a change. So, when I told her about Oliver’s new fiberglass bathroom door, she loved the idea and surprisingly suggested that I make one just like it. Oh no! This could be problematic. I have no idea how the new door was designed, except that it appears to be made of fiberglass. Since I won’t likely see one in person anytime soon, I’d be grateful if anyone could share details or close-up pictures of the door. I’m curious about the jam, hinges, hasp, and finishes on both the inside and outside. I’m also wondering how the mirror is attached, if it has a bezel or frame, and if the door is two-layered or similar to the closet door with the gelcoat on the inside. If it seems doable without major wall or door jam modifications, I might build a reusable mold and try giving it a go. Any insights or opinions on this are welcomed. Cheers! Geoff 4
Just Joe Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Definitely keep us posted. From the photo of the door on the OTT website, it looks like it could be made of a PVC or a dense foam-core material. It appears that it may be taller too which is great as i have already taken the top metal frame off of ours since I was tired of always scraping my head. The top corners of the door opening have also been cut rounded similar to the exterior door. The rounded corners would likely help prevent cracks in the bulkhead panel that some owners have reported in the past. John Dorrer Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I believe the new door is fiberglass. For older trailers the entire bathroom wall would have to be replaced for the new door, which has rounded corners. I forget what Oliver said the price was to retrofit. It wasn't cheap. I remember the conversation with Oliver and the process was quite involved. I would contact Oliver for the latest info. 1 John & Susan Dorrer, 2013 F250, 6.2 gasser, 4x4, 2022 Legacy Elite 2, twin beds, Hull #1045, Jolli Olli -

The only thing we thought the bathroom door needed was something to hold the door in the open position. For this, we added a simple magnetic cabinet door catch. Come to think of it, I think we only wanted to keep it open was because depending upon how level the trailer is, it tends to close even if you want it to stay open. (Probably because we didn’t want a cat trapped in there.) 1 2022 Oliver Legacy Elite II Hull #1029 King Bed Floorplan electronics package Truma Aqua-Go LOUD Dometic Penguin A/C LevelMate Pro+ TV - 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, 3.0l Duramax Diesel, Crew Cab 4WD RealTruck hard tonneau cover Rove R2-4K DashCams Canada: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island

This is what I did (round magnet on left). I used 3M VHB to mount it. The magnet was too strong so I put some foam tape on the corner door frame to soften the pull. 1 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins!

However if your trailer is level (particularly side to side) the door will stay in any position you leave it. In fact, I use the bathroom door as an indicator of how level the trailer is. Try this link: Bathroom Door Hack It’s from 2019. There are a couple of earlier posts, but they don’t seem to be active. I think I did this in 2017. The only change to what I posted is that I moved the magnet inside the dinette seat. It doesn’t show and the grip is not as strong but holds fine. You can see the magnet on the door, but only if you look. You can order these door magnets on Amazon fairly easily. Mike 1 Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L

True - but until I got out the real level and tweaked my LevelMate Pro+ it sometimes wasn’t perfect. That, and the cats require that I have a positive way to keep the door open.
