Door retainer clip

I noticed today that my door retainer clip rubber bushings are starting to disintegrate.  My trailer is only a year old, so the stock must be a bit older than that.  I would like to replace them with urethane bushings if possible.  If not, then the original rubber will do until next year.  Do any of you know who manufactures the hardware or, alternatively, where I might find upgraded urethane bushings?  See picture.

Last time I checked - I could not find anything other than the rubber jobs.

In fact, I just replaced mine in September, 2024 while at the mothership.  I can't remember what Jason charged me but I do remember that it was cheap.

Yes.  It seems strange that they would make this out of some fine stainless and then put windshield wiper rubber in the retainer holes.

If by "they" you mean Oliver - 

As far as I know these door holders didn't originally come with the rubber grommets.  But, Oliver added them when it was found that the door hook would "rattle" in the that hole that is just a little too big when the wind blew.  Assuming that this is true - I'm guessing that Oliver has not been able to locate a supply of anything other than rubber too.😢

I last ordered off Amazon back in 2021. They seem to last a year. Of course they are not in stock now, but here are the measurements from what I ordered: 

Pack of 100 Rubber Grommets: 1/4 Inside Diameter - 3/32" Groove Width - Fits 3/8" Drill Holes.

Bought a package of them at Lowes and keep in the junk drawer in the trailer. If I recall they were pretty reasonable

Be a bit careful with these in that Oliver has used several different styles of these door retainers over the years.  Before you buy - make sure that you are getting the correct grommets for your particular Ollie.

Exact match. I took the one from my door into Lowes before it rotted and fell off so I would know. Last one from Lowes lasted three years before falling off. Looks like I need to root thru the drawer for a replacement

Also - at least in my case for hull #117, the door hook holder that is on the Ollie body requires a grommet that is wider in the middle versus the door hook holder that is on the door itself.

My trailer didn’t come with any grommets.  Still doesn’t have any.  I haven’t noticed much of a rattle during windy conditions.  Mike

The rubber grommets hold the hook in a secure fashion that seems to offer some rattle resistance but I'm not sure it is really needed.  Although, it would keep it from bouncing out of the holder when traveling.

That’s never happened.  I might try to fit some grommets just to see what I might be missing!

Not surprisingly since our hull are so close - mine didn't come with grommets either.

However, a few years back Bugeyedriver put me onto a set and I've never looked back.  After all, what's good for Pete can't be all that bad!🤪

It's main purpose as far as I'm concerned.  

I took mine into a hardware store out in the middle of the mountains in Colorado last year and finally found grommets that work. They aren't exactly the same, but they work. I bought a few of them. I think I have replaced mine 2 times in 3 years. The sun is rough.

Year+ and A+. We can be be in the SW winds 30+ MPH and the door sits still! Gotta have these and I will never hook a door again, or have the door bang on my @ss, nor will I lean over and hurt myself fighting with the door and its hook! 🤣

And ordered the hinges but will keep the PITA hook (because I don't want to fill holes in the hull).

Yeah, I left our mounts in place too, for the same reason. Prior owner had broken the hook and replaced it with a wire hook that could not possibly hold the door. 🤣

I purchased ours Feb 2024, thank you again @Ty J, and I got lucky to get one Amazon used for $15 with tax, shipped. Though certainly with $40 or more, since ours has proven itself ever since!
