BoondockingAirstream Posted Friday at 09:16 PM Posted Friday at 09:16 PM (edited) After FOUR DAYS +/- in 105+ Nevada... Clear Skies, Sunshine and Lollypops... Nancy and I, armed with Wire and Connectors, rewired, secured the wires of the entire Brake System. The Brakes were so NEW we dropped the Manual Gain to a FIVE. Hooked up the F350 and instantly had BRAKES and could adjust the Gain. Probably going to be a 5 or 6. Nancy said they were doing well at... 5. The Oliver Elite II braking issue obviously was missed at the check out in 2019, when purchased by the owner who sold me the Oliver Elite II. If anyone wants to GUESS WHAT FINISHED THE BRAKING MYSTERY... toss your idea out and I will Nah or Yeah. After a few days... I will Spill the Beans... OK? Mike Neal at Neal's RV Center in Orem, Utah had an email waiting for us, after we tested the F350 and Brake System. Oliver Inc and Neal's RV Center were very helpful. Neal... tossed out the FIX that we had already finished today. Those who had contacted us about purchasing know how to contact Nancy and I. She can explain everything... inside and outside. As someone had said "Get the Brakes Working and raise the price $5,000. Hmmm. I will think about that... Once you have gone through an entire Brake Wiring Project... I know how to lay on my back and move around, using my Elbows. To celebrate. We are going to Railroad Pass Casino just outside Boulder City, Nevada where we live. Get a cold Beer for each of us and play some 5 cent Video Poker. 🙂 Edited Friday at 10:14 PM by BoondockingAirstream 1 1

I Glad you finally got your brakes working, but you can't know for sure that this was an issue from the factory. You bypassed all the original wiring without doing any actual testing/troubleshooting in a logical manner. The problem was most likely a bad connection or cut wire somewhere, which is MUCH more likely than Oliver sending your trailer out the door with inoperative brakes. 2 2010 Elite II Hull #45, the first LE2 sold. 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Off Road 4WD 5.7 with 38 gallon tank, 4.30 axle and tow package.
BoondockingAirstream Posted Saturday at 12:21 AM Author Posted Saturday at 12:21 AM (edited) CRM... The problem source was not exposed wiring, but you could test all you like. It was NOT accessible. It had to be bypassed, rewired and connected from front to back. Now it works. Explain that with your volt meter. I use old Technology. If it does not work... FIX IT. If I cannot Fix It... have Someone Else Fix It. My wife and I figured this out using Common Sense. A rare commodity with Wiring that is 20th Century. Works for Us. Who would you suspect did it? The Owner? This Oliver now has All of the Electric Brake Wiring replaced, secured, same or better wiring and WORKS. Set the Brakes at 5... and you feel them for once. "Trailer Connected"... If the Brakes worked... I would have had to do NOTHING. You have no idea what you are talking about. This issue was there, when purchased from the Original Owner. He delivered it to our home, he did not want me to tow it... for Insurance Reasons. Yeah... fell for that. I do not make Excuses for WHY this left Oliver Inc. with non functional electric brakes, or the Original Owner not having them fixed.. If OTHERS have similar issues on the Forum. The Original Owner... knew. Now... I can say the Brakes Work. Hook it up and they still Work. Now... My Olive Elite II BRAKES WORK PERFECTLY. Anyone wants to take a ride? Come see the Rewire and Secure Brake System... now. I reduced the price of the trailer as the Electric Brakes needed to be fixed. I can now raise the price now that this has been solved. A win for ME. A win for a potential BUYER. MY WIFE AND I FIXED IT BY FIGURING IT OUT AND BY ASKING HELPFUL INDIVIDUALS. Neal's RV Center, Orem, Utah has a new Oliver Elite II on their lot. Probably the ONLY ONE in the entire area. After we returned from our TEST DRIVE... which was successful... Mike Neal had sent an Email... saying... 'try this', which was exactly what we had done. Imagine that... Edited Saturday at 12:37 AM by BoondockingAirstream

I'm glad it worked for you, though replacing all the brake wiring instead of finding and repairing the fault is not "common sense". That's like a mechanic replacing an engine because it doesn't run. Was it "common sense" when you replaced the axle wiring knowing that it couldn't be your problem since your brakes worked when the disconnected switch was pulled? Glad your happy though, and more importantly, traveling with brakes now! BoondockingAirstream Posted Saturday at 02:04 AM Author Posted Saturday at 02:04 AM It is not often that someone who had not helped, now is the expert in waiting. But now that the entire Brake System is upgraded and operational. Common Sense.... If it works, you do not need to fix it. Advice... Critics do not offer advice. They make issue that someone used 'Common Sense and Logic' to source an electrical issue AFTER it was Fixed. If someone came to me and described what their problem was and how to repair it... is better than criticizing me for doing what you did not offer to help, at all. Now... I know what we did, how we did it and without anyone helping. I do not care if you are 'happy'. You had nothing to do with this. Advice 'after the fact' is a bit late. But glad you read the posts and learned something. Even a Neanderthal can fix what you believe you already knew, but did not assist as far as I recall. I would advise that you help others in need, not after the work has been done. Anyone who has had no help in solving your Brake Issue... contact us and I can explain how we learned and solved our Oliver Elite II Brake System... all of it. The experience was interesting and Common Sense is better than NO Advice, 100% of the time. Have a good day and if someone else is in need of help.... step forward and make your massive volume of Oliver knowledge put to work. Thank You

Dennis and Melissa Posted Saturday at 01:24 PM Posted Saturday at 01:24 PM The tone of these two threads is radically different than most of this board. I'm neither mechanic nor eager DIYer. Just a spectator on most of those kinds of conversations. Which I typically find interesting. Not so much this one. On some chat boards I have participated in there was a way to give plusses and minuses to threads. I don't know if we have that feature here. If we did, I would be publicly advising others to just read something else. 2 2024 OLEII - Hull MDIV, born 3/13/24 Ram 1500 5.7L 8 cyl hemi, 4wd, max tow, air shocks, 6’4” box, crew cab

Tried to help, as others had, (and definitely for longer than I should have), but outwardly blaming Oliver and the prior owner for the problem pushed me over the edge. Would be nice if the moderators could delete all associated threads as there's absolutely nothing to be gained by spending time reading them. 4 2010 Elite II Hull #45, the first LE2 sold. 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Off Road 4WD 5.7 with 38 gallon tank, 4.30 axle and tow package.
BoondockingAirstream Posted Saturday at 02:16 PM Author Posted Saturday at 02:16 PM All of you are 100% correct. I should not blame Oliver Inc.. I blame myself for not checking everything out and made a mistake trusting someone. This will be my last post on the Forum. When I smell the Tar and see Feathers... time for me to check out. 1
Moderators bugeyedriver Posted Saturday at 05:09 PM Moderators Posted Saturday at 05:09 PM OK folks, let's all relax and get back to normal 'decorum on the forum'. Steph and Dud B Posted Saturday at 05:14 PM Posted Saturday at 05:14 PM Ray, it looks like you've been a long contributor over at airforums. Can't see why that can't be the case here as well. It seems to me these brake threads just got too personal. Believe me, I know how frustrating troubleshooting can be. My wife will tell you I can be a bear to be around when some device is defying my efforts to make it perform as it should. Leave if you feel you must, but consider sticking around. Now that your brakes are working you can get out there and share your BoondockingOliver stories with us. Safe travels. 3 Stephanie and Dudley from CT. 2022 LE2, Hull #1150: Eggcelsior.
