fredmin Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Hi everyone, I decided to go the “new” route. I just finished taking to OTT and put down my deposit for an Elite II, delivery in December 2021. I have until September to decide about options and finishes.... Fred M 1 1
Moderators SeaDawg Posted February 12, 2021 Moderators Posted February 12, 2021 Congratulations! Lots of time to study posts, and the University videos. Have you owned a camper before? That really helps to choose options, as you "know" your desired camping style. If not, we can help, in answering questions. And, welcome! 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. DC compressor fridge. fredmin Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) I have been lurking in the forums since 2018. Also, I am an avid sailor and owned several sailboat over the years. I am familiar with battery banks, chargers, inverters, etc. I have camped before but never in a camper. Edited February 12, 2021 by fredmin 1
Moderators topgun2 Posted February 12, 2021 Moderators Posted February 12, 2021 Fred - In that case, you are going to love your land vessel. Welcome! But, now comes the hard part of deciding which of those options you really need and/or want. Pat Maundrell Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 This sounds like us. We are retired Sailors also and now are in the process of Ordering an OTT. I guess we will Sailing a "Land Yacht" now. I how Airstream doesn't mind the reference. Pat & Molly 1

dewdev Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Pat and Molly As I said on the phone congradulations. Since you looked at a few used Oliver's it should make your choice of options easier. Sailors definitely "get" the whole idea of many systems. Especially water 💧, and conservation. Backing a trailer into a spot is definitely easier than docking and tying up in a slip in high crosswinds . You'll be fine. Read (and watch) all the land-based stuff. Many of the other systems are already familiar. Ps, dumping is much easier than pumpout. Jim and Frances Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Congrats Fred! We are just a couple of months ahead of you - having opted for the "old" (2020) vs. "new" (2021) option. We too are shifting from spinning sea to land yarns and look forward to sharing with you in the future! (Assuming we ever thaw out LOL!)
