SYoung
We just bought a previously owned Ollie in pristine condition. For some reason, the bathroom fan keeps popping up when we travel. Is there a special way to close it? Thanks to everyone for answering all my questions.
Moderators SeaDawg Posted August 9, 2023 Moderators Share Posted August 9, 2023 Hi, and welcome! And, congrats on your Oliver. Which bath fan do you have? MaxxFan, or ventline? (The Maxx dome has a clearly visible fuseholder on the inside. The ventline doesnt.) As a temporary fix, i've seen folks use a piece of pvc or a rolled up towel through the handle to keep it from opening. Scroll down through about halfway, and you'll see some solutions. Your fan may have been installed incorrectly. 5 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. Moderators Mike and Carol Posted August 9, 2023 Moderators Share Posted August 9, 2023 We roll up a hand towel and insert it. Ours was leaking a bit on our last trip in some heavy rain, it’s not sealing right when we close it. I decided to go ahead and order a maxxfan with the LED light. I’ll install it in the next week or so before we head out to TN and KY in Sept and Oct to see some leaves turning. Has anyone had a problem with their locking tab on the new MaxAir bathroom vent? On ours (hull 1368), no matter how hard I pull down on the handle the black tab will not engage/lock. Just slight upward pressure with back of hand will open the vent whether or not the tab is pressed. Traveling at highway speeds generally results in the vent opening by itself. I could use a dowel or pool noodle to keep the vent closed while traveling, like others have done, but if there was an easy fix I’d like to do it so the vent operates as designed. 1 2014 Ford F350 Super Duty 6.7 Power Stroke with heavy duty tow package; 3.55 ratio; AirLift rear suspension 2023 Elite ll Twin Bed and Lithium Pro and Truma Package; Hull #1368; Delivery Date: April 12,2023 Homebased in Richland, WA

Moderators SeaDawg Posted August 20, 2023 Moderators Share Posted August 20, 2023 I've never had a problem with either the original ventline, nor the maxxair dome that we retrofitted, popping open underway. I'm seriously wondering if those who have issues have fans installed, 180 degrees wrong way. Maybe vent/drain holes are backwards? My maxxair dome is actually a bit difficult to open and close, requires two hands, most of the time. I realize we've had ours a number of years, and yours could be different. We followed instructions to the letter. 2008 elite I. 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. Moderator+ ScubaRx Posted August 21, 2023 Moderator+ Share Posted August 21, 2023 Our old original 10 year old ventline model never popped open during towing. I have just installed the Maxxair Dome (because it has a light, nothing was wrong with the old one) but we've not towed any since installation. I don't have any reason to believe it will open during travel. 1 Steve, Tali and our dog Rocky plus our beloved dogs Storm, Lucy, Maggie and Reacher (all waiting at the Rainbow Bridge) 2008 Legacy Elite I - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #026 | 2014 Legacy Elite II - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #050 | 2022 Silverado High Country 3500HD SRW Diesel 4x4
Jeffemac
Here’s a video I shot to send to OTT to explain the problem I was encountering. Since I don’t have anything to compare this to, does this look similar to yours? Can you tell if it was installed incorrectly? Thanks in advance for responding to my question. Steph and Dud B
It's right there in the instructions: "Orient the fan with the button toward the front of the coach." OTT installed ours backwards. Probably why it pops open. Another QC fail. 1 Stephanie and Dudley from CT. 2022 LE2, Hull #1150: Eggcelsior. Tow vehicle: 2016 GMC Sierra 6.0 gas dually 4x4. Jeffemac
On mine, the black button on the handle IS oriented towards the front of the trailer! Thanks everyone for your responses. Minnesota Oli
I had this issue with my 2019 Oliver. What I found was the two screws that attach the handle to the plastic cover over time had deformed the outer cover around the screw head. When pulling the handle down to close vent the plastic around the screw head made contact with the sealing surface and the rest had a small air gap which allowed air to get under and lift the cover up. The link shows what I did to remedy the problem and I'm happy to report that I no longer have that problem. 1
